We all waved Augustus off. Well, everyone but my other mate. I haven't seen him since I left the war room and now I was wondering where he was. I took off the moment Augustus car was out of view, not wanting to cause any alarms as he drove away. I made my way towards the Kings office, trying my best to keep my emotions in check. Knowing that Augustus and I have fully mated and marked each other, we can feel the other way more and so keeping myself calm helps him continue on his way without contacting me or worse, turning around.

I didn't think I could get that from someone of his status but there I was mated to not only an Alpha but a King as well. Though I wondered if Barot's feelings held any weight to Augustus, I shouldn't compare but it is hard not to. I reached his door and heard a loud crash and some breaking of glass. I hesitated for a moment, wondering if he wanted to be bothered but I needed to talk to him and I opted in knocking on the door.

I heard him move and then he spoke "Come in" I pushed the door open and saw him standing in front of his desk. Most likely to hide the mess that he's created behind it. I just dive right in with no more hesitation.

"Hey, can we talk?" I ask

"Of course, come in" He moved towards the couch and I followed his lead.

"Augustus just left" I said, he just nodded and looked at my neck. I can tell he was trying to hold back the anger building up within him. It was still fresh looking and all I wanted was to add his to the mix but it was some things to clear up before I allowed it.

"Barot" I say his name causing his eyes to leave the mark Augustus just made last night. "Why do you keep lying to me?" His gaze goes to the floor.

"I do apologize my love but I didn't actually get the time to tell you everything" He slowly said thinking of our last conversation

"I would guess not" I touch his face, making him look me in the eyes. "Now's your chance" And he smiles

"How did I get such a caring mate?" He pulls me into him

"Because whatever you think, you deserve to be happy" I say making our foreheads touch.

"Thank you, I will tell you everything" And I smile "Well let me start from the beginning so it'll all make sense" He insisted

"Go on" By the time he was done, I wanted nothing more but to help my mate defeat this curse and live a life of true happiness. I wanted to live out my days with him and Augustus. Have children and raise them as a family, together.

"I promise I will fix everything" He declares

"Together" I grab his hand

"What do you mean?" He said, confused.

"We will fix everything, together." I say looking him in the eyes.

"Edrea, it's too dangerous. My family has gotten" He started

"No, you've done enough on your own. It's time you have someone fighting by your side. Defeating anything that dares try to ruin our love, our connection, our lives and the ones we love. We will always fight, together, like we are doing now. Do you understand?" I say not allowing him to cut me off.

He just nods his head with tears in his eyes. I hug him and he sobs in my arms. I must've hit a soft spot, something he truly longed for in this lonely life of his. I teleported us to his bed but he continued to sob as we lay back. We stayed like that for a while until he fell asleep, I soon followed after. I kissed his forehead before drifting off to sleep. He tightened his grip, mumbling something that sounded like

'I love you'

I've been thrown in a regular cell, thankful that she didn't put me in the silver cell as silver is dangerous to us wolves. I'm already fully healed and I've only been here for a little over a day.. I think. I haven't gotten any medical treatment because I didn't need it. Perks of being a Jade wolf and Kimi growls assuring my thoughts. I lean back up against the wall and close my eyes. I can hear everything going on. I focus my attention on Flora and she's talking with the council.

"He left his pack unattended just to go rescue a mutt that means nothing to him. That's why I should be appointed to the next Alpha in line" She tried convincing them but they all remained silent as if they were mind linking each other.

"Flora" A woman spoke "Your brother did not leave the pack unattended, we are looking over everything that needs to be protected at the moment while the Phoenix Wolf is returned back to us." She says and I swear I can feel the fumes coming off of Flora.

"And we don't appreciate you trying to undermine the next Alpha in line. The next time you choose to tip the scales in your favor." He growls "Yes I know of your doings scales keeper" My mouth drops and I can only imagine the look on Flora's face. "And so the next time you choose to tip them in your favor, they will be stripped of you and given to another that is more worthy of them." He spoke with a threatening tone and his authority and ranking was clear.

I can hear Flora whimper "Yes council man" She said growling

"You dare growl at me you foolish child" I can hear Flora gasping, kicking, trying to get out of someone's grip but they have her firm in their grasp and she's not getting loose unless they let her go.

"Please" She managed to get out and I couldn't help but crack a smile because karma is making its way back around. I know I shouldn't be but I'd be lying to myself if I said she didn't deserve it.The person holding her drops her to the ground and not long after I hear bones cracking, a loud crash against the wall and more bones breaking. I cringed at the sound of it.

"Be happy you are an Alpha daughter, otherwise you'll be dead right now." They all laughed but nothing came from Flora. Not A word... All I heard was a faint heart beat and a silent struggle to breathe.
