The Enemy Within

"Ma we are ready" Eliana announced as soon as she walked into Mrs Clinton's office. "Good, now we attack" Mrs Clinton replied with her back turned to Eliana enjoying the view of the city from her balcony. Today is the day she returns to the beginning, to how it all started and this time she wasn't the weak girl she used to be and it was time to show it to them. Eighteen years ago "Guess what babe?" Maya said excitedly to Ryan who was pressing his outfits for his job hunt. "what's that babe?" Ryan asked still busying himself in his clothes. "we are pregnant" Maya announced excitedly and Ryan turned to look at her not sharing her joy. "What do you mean we are pregnant Maya?" He asked with a forced smile on his face. "We are expecting a baby love" Maya replied trying to understand why he wasn't happy about the news. " We can't have a baby now, that's not what we need at the moment" Ryan protested. "it's been three years since we got married, when do you think will ever be the right time?" Maya argued back. "I still don't have a job" Ryan continued and Maya tried explaining to him how that wasn't an issue because she could still take care of the both of them with her job. Ryan got offended that Maya was rubbing it in his face that shes takes care of him even though that was never her intention but he wasn't understanding. Ryan stormed out of the house angrily and Maya had to call her best friend Georgia to tell her about her pregnancy and Ryan's behavior. Georgia insisted that she calmed down stating that Ryan would come around. Eighteen Years After. "Hi mom" CJ greeted his mom with a kiss upon entering her office. "hi son, why are you still here?" Mrs Clinton inquired of her son. "Because I'm leaving with you" CJ said to her observing her keenly. "You can't do that, I forbid you from doing that" Mrs Clinton said to him intensely. "Well, daddy instructed me to take care of you and that is exactly what I will do mother. I respect you so much mommy but I love you too much to let you go to that dark place alone. Allow me do this with you mom. Please" CJ begged his mom and she obliged calling Eliana to include him in their plans. Eighteen years ago "I'm sorry for speaking to you like that babe, I was only frustrated with the fact that I'm not able to provide for you and now we have a baby to add that" Ryan apologized to Maya holding her hands. "it's fine baby, I don't need your money to do this, all I need is your love and support" Maya replied and Ryan promised to be supportive to her through out the journey of her pregnancy. Eight months later. "he's such a beautiful boy" Georgia said excitedly holding the newborn in her hands. "what's his name?" She asked. "Nathaniel" Maya answered staring her handsome son who was a replica of her and her husband. Maya had some many difficulties shuffling between her job and family especially because she had to work extra to make more money for the baby since Ryan didn't have a job yet but she was fine with it as long as her family gets to be happy. As her baby and marriage grew older so her husband became more distant, barely having anytime for her or her son. At first , Maya thought it was the job hunts but started getting suspicious when he came home late with feminine cologne all around him and lipstick stains on his shirts sometimes. She addressed the issue but Ryan turned it to a argument accusing her of suspecting him. Maya didn't want to anger her husband more so she let it slide sharing the ordeal with her best friend who advised her to just watch him for the meantime before making any conclusions. Nathaniel grew up to be a handsome boy who was very brilliant and bright. Maya was very proud of him especially when he performed in his school or class activities and excelled at it. At age five , Maya had already gathered so many awards he had won from different school activities. Her marriage seemed to be falling apart more and more and she was confused on how to fix it. All she had was Georgia and her son and Georgia was always there for her giving her the support that she needed. Maya discovered she was pregnant again and wondered how Ryan would react to this news, he was already distant, she didn't want something that would push him further away so she decided to keep it to herself for the meantime. Ryan had been away from the house for four months not taking any of Maya's calls or responding to her texts. Maya stopped trying and continued building the battery she had been working on for years, it was a battery that could power all electrical appliances even without electricity connected to it, she was getting closer and closer to the finishing touches and this wouldn't only excel her at all levels but will also make her name known forever. She told Georgia about it because Georgia was the only person she could talk to about anything since Ryan had left and Georgia was so excited about the fact that her friend was going to be the next big thing. Ryan came back home and apologized to Maya over his recent behavior and promised to do right by her. Maya was so happy that her life was finally taking shape again, her baby girl on the way, her son doing so well in his academic activities, her career about to take the next level and her loving husband now back to his senses, she couldn't have asked for better. Maya was able to complete her battery and it was running smoothly. Georgia offered to arrange meetings with companies so Maya can pitch her work to them and they can sponsor it. "So what are you going to call it?" Georgia asked Maya when she visited her to check the battery out. "The N-Force, N for Nathaniel, I'm naming it after him" Maya announced excitedly. "I love it, my godson has a battery in his name" Georgia said hugging Maya and the two friends chatted till late hours. Maya was seven months pregnant and had taken a leave off work because she was having a stressful pregnancy. She turned on the tv that Wednesday afternoon and received the shock of her life. Her husband was on tv and he was giving an interview on her battery but this time he was calling it "The R-Force" he was talking about how he had been working on it for years and was very grateful to have completed such a masterpiece. Maya thought she was in a dream. She was definitely seeing things because what were the odds that her husband built the same battery that shes built and he wasn't even an engineer. She rushed to her work room to find her work gone, her battery, the manual and everything had disappeared. How could Ryan betray her like that?
