“Adrianna” Everywhere was dark. She found herself in a … dark room. She wasn't sure. "Adrianna" The voice came again. She doesn't know where it's coming from or who it belongs to, so she listens even more attentively. "Adrianna, please wake up" Finally, she found the direction the voice was coming from and walked towards it. "I miss you Adrianna, and I love you so much. I am very worried about you, so can you please wake up?" She felt a bit of heartache listening to the voice tinged with a bit of helplessness and pain. She walked more briskly and found a light. Instinctively she knew she had to get to the light and she did just that. "Adrianna, I swear if you wake up, I'll give you anything you want.” "You said it yourself, so don't blame me even if I ask for your favorite hoodie.”Adrianna squeezed out. "What??! You're awake !!!" Adrian, Adrianna's twin brother shouted in excitement. "Yes I am but if you don't keep your voice down I think I'll go deaf!!!" Adrianna retorted "I'm sorry, I was just too excited. " He said in a low voice "How about I go get the doctor to come give you a full body check up?!" Adrian said and left before she could give a reply. Adrianna shook her head and smiled. She and Adrian were fraternal twins and they lived with their parents. They were not very wealthy but they lived a comfortable life. The doctor came and gave her a full body check-up and said everything was okay which was abnormal since she had been in a coma for two years. "It's a miracle " he exclaimed " The fact that she's alive after all two years and is in a perfect condition, it's a miracle " "What??!! Two years??!! What happened?!!! " Adrianna blurted out in surprise. "Uhmm, actually I'll explain to you later" Adrian tried to appease her. Adrianna looked at him and decided to wait till the doctor left. Immediately he left, she started questioning her brother."What happened to me??! What do you mean I've been in a coma for two years??" Adrian sighed and started explaining. Adrianna went to a club with her two best friends Jenny and Mia. After she dropped them off at home, her car collided with a big truck head-on. The impact made her unconscious and eventually some Good Samaritan helped call the ambulance. when they got to the hospital, she was rushed into surgery. The surgery was successful but the doctors confirmed that she had fallen into a coma and it was unknown when she would wake up. They said there was no hope for her but her family insisted that they try. Initially, her friends and her parents came to visit frequently, but as time went on they started coming less frequently and eventually stopped coming except for Mia who came around once in a while because of her job. The only person that held high hopes for her recovery was her brother, Adrian. He would come every day and tell her stories about his life and how his day went. Adrianna was silent for a long while after she heard all this. Truly it's in times of trouble we know real friends. She sighed and said to Adrian "Thank you so much for being with me. For staying even when everyone thought I would die,for holding that hope for me." Adrian smiled and said that was what he was supposed to do. Just then, his phone rang and he picked it . After he hung up he told Adrianna he was leaving briefly, the company needed him. "Go don't worry about me, I'm not that delicate after all" Adrianna tried to ease his worries After Adrian left, Adrianna fell asleep "I'm scared of what will happen when she wakes up, how will we come out to her?" A nervous and coquettish voice sounded "Since you adulterous couple have been together for two years or no, I'm mistaken, more than two years even before she entered a coma, what shame do you have left to tell her the truth ?!" Another voice filled with disgust and disdain retorted. "Mia, you do know it's not my fault Charles chosed me right??!" The former voice replied. "Yeah, yeah. It's Adrianna's fault you stole her man!!!!!" The second voice shouted laced with sarcasm. Adrianna was shocked by the information she just got. Her supposed best friend Jenny, got together with Charles, her fiancé, a man she had loved since elementary school!! She fluttered her eyes open and met with the scene of her crush Charles with his hand around Jenny who has a baby bump arguing with Mia her other best friend. Finally, Mia noticed she was awake and screamed happy "Adriana, you're finally awake" She was beaming with smiles "Yeah, I am. I heard something just now" She looked at Jenny and Charles who had already separated by now with a crestfallen look on their face. "I heard…" she paused, scared that the answer would hurt her "You guys are together now??!" "Adrianna, at the time we thought you were going to die. And I had feelings for Jenny so I had to give up on you." Charles replied. "How long have you guys been together??!" She was in pain, she didn't think anyone could understand the kind of pain she was in. The pain that came with betrayal. Mia sensed her heart breaking and held her hand, offering her silent support. She looked at Mia grateful and looked at Jenny again. She repeated in a heartbreaking tone "How long...how long have you been together??!" "We are having our fourth anniversary tomorrow." "And you have a baby together??"Adrianna managed to squeeze out despite the pain she was in. Jenny took a step back as if she was scared Adrianna would hurt her "This feud is between us, it has nothing to do with the baby!!!!" she screamed in fear. Adrianna felt her whole world come crashing down, faintly she could hear Mia shouting at them, telling them to leave. Tears streamed down her face. "Anna, he doesn't deserve you, you deserve a man way better than he will ever be." Mia soothed me. Yes. That's true. I deserve better. But it still hurts, it hurts like hell. Adrianna thought. "Mia" she could hear her voice breaking "please leave me for now. " Mia looked at her with eyes widened in shock. "No, you can't do that to yourself. I told you before he doesn't deserve you. Think about your parents, Adrian, and even me. What will we do if you die??!"Mia cried shaking her. Adrianna looked up confused "I just wanted to take a rest, what were you thinking??!" "Oooh, I'm relieved then. If you need anything please call me."Mia said then left the room "I'm quite pitiful " Adrianna lamented as she wallowed in self-pity.
