A dragon weakness

“The king is not going to lose his senses!” Elder Celestial screamed and the room fell silent. Everyone's eyes focused on her. Then she cleared her throat and said, “Let's not hope for the worst and tried to wake Neron up.” “Fear is a natural, powerful, and primitive human emotion. We have to give her time to calm down, then elder Morrowind can try to stabilize her.” Elder Shane stated, staring at the other. In agreement with what he said, they all sat on the couch and waited. After twenty minutes of waiting, Bella stopped struggling, and finally, her breathing became smoother. “Morrowind, what do you think? Can you put her mind at ease?” Horde asked, scratching his beard. “Of course. I'm a Sea Dragon with healing qualities in my saliva. It sounds gross, but it works.” Morrowind mumbled, standing from the couch and walking over to the bedside. Then he rubbed his tongue against his thumb and stroked his finger on Bella's forehead. Immediately, her chest rose and fell with rapid breaths. Then she softly exhaled. “What's going on?” Neron mumbled, staring at the elders, then at Isuzu. Their faces went blank for a moment, but after a minute, they all began rejoicing. “Everyone shut the f**k up!” Neron shouted, sitting up in bed. The room grew silent as he gazed at each one of their faces, and no one dared to move or speak. “Thank you! Now what's going on, and why the hell is my house swamped with elders?” Neron said, striving to restrain his anger. “T-he girl…” Elder Shane mumbled, avoiding his icy stare. “What about her?” “Well, you were unconscious because of her, so… Umm... Isuzu called us.” Instantly, Isuzu's heart skipped a beat when Neron glared at him. Then he lowered his head and thought, ‘He’s mad, really mad.’ “Isuzu, please tell me why you welcome these dictators into my home.” Neron said, resting his feet down on the tiles. “You fainted, and she wouldn't wake up! I didn't know what to do, so I called them!” Isuzu hastily stated, keeping his head bowed. For several seconds while the elders waited for Neron to say something, he remained quiet as he stared at Bella, and the silence dragged on for a while. “Do you know what happened to the both of us?” Neron finally whispered, trying to hold her hand, but he stopped himself. “Your bond with her has grown stronger, and as a result, you will be affected by her deepest emotions. But this is not vice versa since she's a human without any mystical powers.” Indigo said, letting out a gentle breath. The tense energy flowing in the room held the elders in silence for a long moment. Then Elder Morrowind suddenly intoned with a frown, “Because she is weak and easily triggered by her emotions, she caused both of you to lose consciousness.”  “She's not weak!” Neron said, glaring at him. “But…” “If you felt what I felt from her, you would understand, but you didn't, so shut up!” “I understand, your majesty.” Suddenly, a wave of anger aroused inside Neron, causing his heart to pound violently. He gazed at them and shouted, “I'm not your king. That name comes with too much bloodshed. Haven't I spilled enough blood for you guys over the hundreds of years! What more do you all want from me by calling me by such a name?” “Your maje… I mean, Neron, you are the only dragon with the Royal blood flowing through your veins. You can't deny your heritage.” Elder Celestial said, unable to keep her silence any longer. Although he said nothing for a moment, his silence bore the same weight as his words. “Everyone out!” Neron roared, standing from the bed with glowing red eyes. “But…” Elder Indigo mumbled, staring at the other elders. But none of them had the guts to utter a word. Instead, they all kept their thoughts to themselves. “This is the twenty-first century, I don't have to be a king to no one. Now leave! I've sacrificed enough. It's time for me to live for myself!” The elders fell into silence again for several minutes. Then they stood to their feet and bowed to Neron before walking out of the room. “Follow them,” Neron said, glaring at Isuzu. “It wasn't my decision to bring them here. But you wouldn't wake up and I was worried.” Isuzu mumbled, anxiously gazing at Neron. “Thanks to you, I am vulnerable to these old fools again and Bella's life is at risk.” “I know the elders can be demanding, but they want nothing but your safety.” “My parents were betrayed by blood. Do you think trust should be easily given to those aged windbags!” For some time, Isuzu stood in silence, considering whether he should speak or not. “I have lived in solidarity for years because my bloodline has been my curse and blessing from birth. They want me dead, but I'm too powerful for them to conquer. But you just give them my only weakness.” Neron said, letting out a harsh breath. “It seems like all I've been doing lately is messing up,” Isuzu mumbled, raking his fingers through his hair. “Just leave.” “Okay. I'm glad you are okay.” As Isuzu walked away, Neron huffed and said, “Thanks for today.” Staring back at Neron. Isuzu slightly nodded before walking out of the room. After a short hesitation, Neron walked over to Bella and squatted a few distances away from her. “You are in so much danger because of your effect on me. I can't return you to Damon because you are like a weapon in the hands of my enemies. From now on, you are stuck with me for life.” He said, tucking a lock of hair behind Bella's ear.
