7. IT'S JUST A JOG The two left the office to an eatery where they demanded for their dishes. Melita said nothing to Ferd, and he didn't bother bringing up a discussion between them, since they were eating. When they were done, she reminded him of taking him home before going back to his office. "What if I tell you that I don't want to go back home?" He responded to her. She stretched her lips. "And what's the meaning of that? Get into the car so I can take you home, I'll only let you leave when I wish." She replied curtly. Ferd made a long face. "Let's go then, I'm already feeling sleepy." She moved to the car and he followed her instantly, they both stepped in and shut the door. "Don't you ever question my order. Let this be a mistake." She warned him. He took a deep breath. "Just take me as you wish, I don't wanna argue with you." He muttered slowly, but age heard him clearly. She bit her lower lips while throwing hateful looks at him. She drove off and within a few minutes, they arrived at the presence of her building. "Get down from this car, and get into that house now." She ordered her. He pulled out the seat belt and opened the door. "Till you're back, have a nice day." He referred to her and alighted from the car. She watched him until he got into the building, then she drove off to the office. Her heart was filled with anger each time she reflected on the way the female workers were all admiring Ferdinand. Dammit! She hates that. Why should they be admiring her contracted groom? "Oh s**t! I'm gonna talk sense into his head when I get home, I don't wanna see him here again." She murmured and pushed off the file in her presence. She was too sad to continue her work for the day, but she managed to put herself together. ***************** "So tell me, what was her reaction when she saw you in the company?" Christine asked Ferd who stood beside her in the kitchen. He shrugged his shoulders. "She was shocked to see me, and I believe she's gonna talk about it when she's back." He explained. Christine shook her head. "She might not, but that's by the way. Aren't you feeling bored here? Don't you have friends that you'll spend the day with?" "I have, but she ordered me not to step out only if she wishes. And besides, I don't want to stay this way… I'm thinking of talking to her for a job opportunity." He suggested. She dropped the knife she was holding. "I think that's a nice idea, instead of staying at home all day doing nothing." She took the knife again. "Talk to her when she's in a good mood." Ferd bursted into laughter. "How do I even know when she's in a good mood? Well, I'll see what I can do about it." He scratched his head. "Ummm! I want to go take a nap." He uttered and turned leaving tg kitchen. Christine glanced at him and smiled. ************************* Ferd was still asleep when Melita returned from work, she stared at the bed to see him rolling over the bed. A loud hiss escaped her throat, she moved to the bed and tapped him heavily. "Get off that bed." She scolded him. He peeped through his left eye and shut it again, she tapped him the second time. This town she was so angry. "Aren't you hearing my voice so you can stand and welcome me? You shouldn't be sleeping when I'm here." She scolded him. He overheard the statement and slowly stood from the bed. His eyes narrowed as he stared at her. "Welcome back." He greeted. She twisted her face. "Keep that greeting to yourself. It's fifteen minutes past six and you're still sleeping… who does that?" He climbed down from the bed and moved to the sofa. "I just heard you talk about greeting you, now you're responding curtly. Well, it's just a siesta, and I overslept." He narrated. She nodded. "Shame on you Ferdinand, you have no strength as a man to work, just to sleep and eat. That's all." She mocked him. He lifted his face. "Would you let me go search for a job? Or rather get me one yourself?" He asked her. She scoffed. "You're very silly for asking me that question." She dropped her handbag on the table and moved to the wardrobe. He fixed his gaze on the floor recalling what he just uttered. "What's the need of working when I don't have a family that will take the wealths after my departure?" He breathed heavily. "Anyways, if she makes it compulsory… then I'll look for a job, Christine will have to take everything for her kind heart after I depart." He concluded. Melita glanced at him and arched her brows. "Ferdinand, what are you thinking?" He turned to her. "About myself." He replied immediately. She nodded slightly. "Don't you ever step foot in that company again, talk more in my office. If I see you near that company again.. I'll jail you." She warned him. He didn't say a word to her, and she wasn't expecting any. He stood up to leave the room, but she called her back. "Get your filthy ass on that sofa, you have no right to leave my sight anyhow." She shrieked at him. He glued his butt to the sofa as she commanded. "Who then will get our meal? I'm very hungry." "You haven't taken your bath, neither have I. So you shouldn't be talking about meals now." She replied to him while covering her hair with a shower cap. "But I don't dine with you, so you shouldn't stop me from eating when I want. I'll take my bath after eating." He stated and stood up again. She twitched towards him and forced him to get seated. "You're trying to disobey my order, so for that… you're gonna eat with me." She declared. He shrugged his shoulders. "If you say so." She moved into the bathroom since she had already undressed, while Ferd waited for her. When she was done, she ordered him to freshen up as well… and he did so. Ferdinand left with her to the dining room and Christine served them, the young lady was shocked to see the both together in the dinning. Heaven knows the amount of joy she got from that. "Stop staring at us and concentrate, Christine." Melita shunned her when she noticed she was smiling taking glances at them. She left back to the kitchen when she was done serving them. The both began eating, not sparing each other a glance. ************************** Very early the next morning……… She was still on the bed asleep since it was the weekend and she wouldn't be going to work. Ferdinand got dressed in his sweatpants and canvas shoes, he stood before the mirror staring at himself. She gripped the bed cover and opened her eyes a bit to see a stoutly built man standing before the mirror beside the wardrobe. Her pupils dilated. "Isn't that Ferdinand?" She thought and slowly stood up on the bed. Huh! He looked so sweet on the cloth that she couldn't get her eyes off him. If only he hadn't studied his stature very well, she might mistake him to be someone else. While she was still crushing on the dude with mouth agape, Ferdinand turned to see her awake. "Oh! You're awake already." His deep voice brought her out of her thoughts. She swallowed and gave a nod. "Where the heck are you going this early morning?" She asked him. He rolled his eyes. "Uhmmm! Morning jog, I need to stretch my legs and body." He replied. She got down from the bed. "What if I go with you? So we can jog together." He shook his head, but deep inside of him, he wanted her to be with him. "Sorry, but I need to go alone, I don't need company." "Then I'm sorry too, you aren't leaving here against my will." She retorted. He was damn shocked. "I don't understand the sort of early morning f*****g command you're trying to give." She turned to him. "You called it a f*****g command huh?" She clapped her hands. "Two options left for you to choose. Allow me to go with you, or remain here." She moved closer to him and lifted his jaw. "It's a jog, nothing else. It will change nothing." He scratched his head gesturing. "Okay, let's go together. But you shouldn't trouble me out there… at least treat me as a husband for once." He uttered. She smiled and shook his shoulder. "That's my fake groom, you gotta respect me even out there… or you won't like the embarrassment I'll give you." He chiseled his face and released a loud hiss, Melita didn't care. She moved to the wardrobe and took her jogging pants, then her canvas shoe. "You'll put it on, I don't want to bend down." She referred to Ferd when she was through with putting on the clothes. He took steps towards her and forced her to get seated on the bed. Then he began pushing her leg into the shoe. "I'll give you a heavy knock if you don't take it easy." She warned him. He caressed his palm on her leg, and then placed a kiss on it.
