"Let me go Akin." I warn.

"Desire I'm sorry, I can explain okay," he cries, tears roll down his face and he looks so lost.

"I don't...I don't know what came over me please I love you, you know that. You know how much I love you."

"How could you Akin? How could you do this to me and with none other than my sister? I was so happy to come home Akin." I yell out in frustration.

"I was so happy to give you the good news. Why did you have to do that? Why?" I jerk harder. God I can't stand him touching me.

The tears seem to make my head pound harder and my vision blurry.

Chapter One
DESIRE I stare out the window at the city beneath me, everything looks so small from up here but also so beautiful. "Please fasten your seatbelts we're about to touch down," comes from the overhead speakers and I start to feel squirmy.I always feel nervous every time the plane is about to land, a lot of different scenarios play through my mind all of which always end badly. What if the plane lands and we go careening into the airport. What if instead of landing we take a nosedive and crash into the tarmac and the plane blows up, oh dear. Even the excitement of the other passengers isn't enough to calm my wildly beating heart. "You okay there?" asks the guy beside me who's been pressing his phone since we took off from Heathrow airport, or should I say man since he looks to be older than me, maybe in his early thirties. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just nervous." I chuckle awkwardly. "Don't worry it's all going to be fine," he grabs my hand and squeezes slightly. Even though I don't normally like strangers touching me, I start to feel better. "It's Christmas Eve, nothing can go wrong, don't worry free your mind," he gives me a sparkly smile then turns to the front and closes his eyes. He starts humming a Christmas tune, all whilst holding my hand. Okay calm down, nothing can go wrong like he said it's Christmas Eve. Just breathe in and out. The plane touches down at Muritala Muhammed airport and as it wheels down the tarmac my heart beat slowly decreases. I sigh in relief when the plane finally stops. It's all a flurry as everyone starts getting ready to get off the plane. I finally let go of the man's hand. "You see, everything went well." He points out. "Yeah, thank you," I smile slightly as he gets up and reaches into the overhead compartment to get his bag. "You're welcome," he replies. I grab my bag and make a beeline for the baggage claim immediately I get off the plane. It's only when I make my way out of the airport that my excitement comes back. I'm finally home. I stop and take a moment to feel the breeze on my face. I feel the cold bite of harmattan in the air and grin giddy with happiness; I whip out my phone and make a call, the line picks and I hear the deep masculine voice on the end that sends an excited chill down my spine. "Hello." "Hey baby." "Baby, I've missed you .... so much," he slurs a little. "I've missed you too," I feel so happy to hear his voice that I giggle, he says something but the noise in the background is too loud for me to hear clearly. "Baby where are you, it's too loud in there I can't hear you," the line crackles a little and then. "I'm at a club," he says. "Oh .....well I just arrived and I'll be home soon." "Really?" "Yeah babe." "That's great news baby." I can practically hear the excitement in his voice. "Yeah and I've got a surprise for you." I sing song. "Really? Tell me what's the surprise." "Nuh uh uhn, now it won't be a surprise if I tell you would it." "Oh come on baby, you know how much I hate surprises," he gripes. "Oh trust me you'll love this one," I giggle. "Fine." "I'll be home soon baby." "Okay you'll meet me when you get home. I'm leaving right now." "Alright baby love you." "Love you too." The line cuts and I hail a cab. I get in and tell him my address. Only to get stuck in traffic. "Ooooh what's all these nonsense now" I complain. "Madam na Christmas Eve o, you know how e dey be for this time of year na so so hurry hurry everybody go dey do traffic go plenty," says the cab driver in pidgin. Madam it's Christmas Eve, you know how it is at this time of the year. Everyone will be in a hurry hence there'll be lots of traffic. "Lagos and it's traffic sef na wa ooh," I hiss and occupy myself with a game on my phone. I spent hours in traffic and by the time I got home it's 2am. I'm tired and I can feel the beginnings of a headache. "Merry Christmas," I mumble to myself.
