Change

The alarms goes off signaling that it is 4 AM. I reach out shutting off with a groan. "Ugh I just want to sleep for a bit more." closing my eyes as I start to drift off back to sleep. Suddenly I jolt up hearing loud foot steps down the hall. Jumping out of bed I change as fast as I can my long raven black hair in knots. "ROSEMARY GET UP YOU LAZY GIRL" I hear my mother scream from the other side of the door. I actually wouldn't consider her my mother since we aren't related by blood at all. According to her my real mother left me with her and never returned. As she would put it my mother was a good for nothing "b***h". sighing softly i put my hair up in a bun and opened the door only to be met with a swing of a hand making contact with my cheek as I feel. My cheek feeling hot as I looked at my so called mother. "You're as worhtless as that bitch." She grabbed me by my hair and pulled me as I screamed trying to break free. "let go of me!" I pleaded as she threw me to the floor. "How many times do I have to remind you to clean the house!?" looking up at her responding softly "I did clean up, I swear I did mom." groaning as she kicked my side. footsteps getting closer as I hear "STOP IT." my brother appearing in front of me suddenly. grabbing my side glancing up as he helped me up wincing in pain. "I don't understand why you treat her like this everyday mom, What has she done to deserve this?" as heard him ask my mother sliding her fingers in my hair once again yanking me away from him "This little b***h is just like her mother, a good for nothing whore." I struggled against her grip trying to break free. This was the routine for me. Whether it was morning or night my mother would always punish me. I don't know why she suddenly became the way she is. When I was younger she was always sweet and kind to me. But as I grew older her behavior towards me suddenly changed. At times she blamed me for her misfortunes. Or because her lovers would leave her. I feel that the only way I survived was because of my brother and her real son Blake. He was always protecting me from her and others. Blake had short black hair with hazel eyes, his skin was pale in comparison to mine, he worked out so he had abs but wasn't overly built. He was very popular at school. I would always get glares from the other girls. If it wasn't for him being my brother I would probably be head over heals for him as well. Compared to him I had raven black long hair that reached my waist, brown eyes, I was 5'1 while he was 6'6, my skin was an olive color and i was just average built nothing special about me. "Rosemary....Rosemary." glancing up I saw blake reaching down to help me up once again as he told me that we should get going. I shook my head telling him to go on ahead of me. I didn't want to embarass him with how I looked. he just chuckled and told me that he would wait so I could get ready. I hurried as to not keep him waiting. By the time I returned he saw that I had tied my hair up in a bun once again and grabbed me turning me aroound as he undid it and gently brush my hair. He was always gentle with me.
