Going Back To Old Josh

Alex tried to lift her hand but found out that she could not because something was attached to her hands.
She felt uncomfortable and realized that she had something covering her nose thereby making her breathe with difficulty.
She tried struggling, and that's when Josh looked up and saw that she was awake. His heart leaped with joy, he could not describe how he felt at that moment. Seeing her awake alone gives him indescribable joy.
"Josh is here and I am in the hospital because that's what it looks like"
She thought wondering why or how and if could it be Josh's fault because he doesn't want her to be his wife.
He scrambled up and ran to her bedside and removed the oxygen mask. At that moment, two nurses and the doctor ran into the ward with a stethoscope hanging on the doctor's neck.
The doctor examined her and scribed something on the blue board and handed it back to the nurse whom he collected it from.
The doctor was surprised that with the amount of melatonin present in Alex's system, she was able to wake up within a few hours. A Christmas miracle indeed happened, something might have brought her back from her deep slumber.
"Excuse me both of you, I want to have a word with the patient."
The doctor said to the two nurses who bowed and left, he was done anyway and there were many people to attend to so instead of the nurses being here doing nothing, they should better get busy.
"Miss Coker, how are you feeling"
The doctor asked Alex whose stare was fixed on Josh. She was trying to understand what was really going on and she thought it was only Josh who could give her an answer because she believes he is the reason why she is in the hospital and at that moment, her hatred for him intensified.
"I am good."
She replied and tried to get up but could not, Josh made to help her but she glared at him and he stepped back looking hurt.
When he is beginning to like her and she brings up this attitude of hers.
"That's great to hear, you are indeed a survivalist. Welcome back. I will have the hospital restaurant deliver something for you to eat because you need all the strength, Mr. Bleak over to you"
The doctor said and left almost immediately.
Josh smiled up at her.
"Hey! Mrs. Bleak, how are you? You decided to wake up after. I was beginning to think you will remain there so that I can have my peace"
Josh said, sarcastically, trying to mask the hurt in his eyes, the way she shoved him really got to him and he had to blame himself for trying to care. She treating him the way she did a while ago was his reward for praying for her to wake and he thought maybe he should not be nice at all.
He wanted to give her the benefit of doubt but that attitude of hers changed his mind. Now that she is awake, he will go back to being Josh Bleak, the wedding will go on but catching feelings for Alex, he can't risk his heart for it.
He did not wait for her to reply, turned, and walked away.
Alex was speechless, she thought maybe he was being kind to her a moment ago. The look of relief she saw in his eyes when he realized that she was awake was so real but in the next minute, he had returned to the Josh she knew.
And maybe she was right about him being the cause of her in the hospital and he was just trying to be nice to elevate his guilty conscience. How quick she was to judge him?
She was relieved somehow because she was not just going to accept Josh being nice all of a sudden, it's better he is himself so that she will know how to deal with him.
She tried getting up and this time, succeeded. She removed whatever was on her hand and sighed. She felt light
headed and a severe headache kicked in.
"The i***t could not wait on me, he just left me to die on my own."
She hissed and grunted from the pain she was feeling from the right side of her stomach, her stomach rumbled and she covered it in shame. She can't tell what time is or how far the day has gone.
For crying out loud, she was supposed to be preparing for her wedding or would have been wedded by now.
Alex's heart skipped and she shivered and that's a sign she always has whenever she feels she is not doing something right.
And she remembered that she has not reached out to her brother and he might be stranded at her apartment or might even be worried about her.
She needed to do something fast, she needed to get to her brother ASAP even though she was feeling weak and hungry but she can still manage. He is the only thing that matters to her. Forgetting that if something happens to her, her brother will feel the impact of it so she needs to think about her health too but Alex is too stubborn to even listen to herself.
She managed herself out of the ward in her hospital gown. With every step she took, she got weaker. Ask Alex where she is going, she has no clue, all she knows is that she wants to find how to reach out to her brother. It's not that she knows the direction to the Bleak's mansion or that she has the brother's digits by heart. She never thought that the time would come when she would need the digit so badly.
No how she was going to get to the bleak Mansion, she doesn't know the place but she could ask around.
She continued to stagger her way out of the hospital, she was praying in her heart to meet no nurse on her way so that she would not be questioned about where she is going.
She almost made it out of the hospital and was getting ready to be thankful if she makes it out of the hospital without being noticed, she can't afford to miss this opportunity.
Josh, who was at the hospital entrance trying to clear his head, saw an approaching figure, by the way the person walks, he can tell that he or she was finding it difficult to walk.
He got angry and questioned the authenticity of the hospital, and why they would allow their patient to take care of themselves on their own.
He vowed he was taking Alex out of there as soon as possible.
He made to turn away but catch the glimpse of the person's face and found out that it was Alex and she wasn't walking anymore, the next thing he saw, she was slowly reaching the floor and with everything strength, Josh has got, he picked a race and thankfully, he got to her before she could hit the floor.
"Ander"
She said and blacked out in his arms.
