Stubborn Alex

1136 Words
Senior Bleak frowned and tapped his feet on the floor tiles, the tapping could be heard by someone in a distance. He believes that Lucy would not just drug Alex without being asked to and the officers have been doing their best to find out who had sent her but they have not been able to. The news of Lucy's death means Alex's life is still in danger because the person knew that Lucy will at least spill the truth and he had to kill her but how could the officers be too careless to the extent that the person under their custody would be killed right under their noses. That's incompetency on their own part. Senior Bleak heaved a sigh and left the room, he was descending the stairs when his phone rang again, it was the hospital calling. "Sir, I am sorry to relate to you, the lady has lost consciousness again but we are doing our best. For her to wake up before, there is every tendency she would wake up again soon. She fainted due to exhaustion but she is stable now and her breathing has normalized. I tell you she is out of danger and you should not worry because Mr. Josh is doing his best to look after her" "Alright Doctor, just do your best and make sure my daughter-in-law is okay. I trust you to do your best." Senior Bleak said and he hung the call, he doesn't need to hear the doctor's assurance because he absolutely trusts the hospital's efficiency. "Grandfather, can I go see Alex?" Luke said from behind. He had heard the conversation between his grandfather and the doctor and he was glad that Alex was not okay as he had feared. There was no need for him to fear because Alex is not back on her feet even though the priest has been rescued from Stacy's men. Senior Bleak scrutinized his grandson for some time. He would be a fool to allow him to go to the hospital with Josh present. He had noticed that since yesterday that there was a hint of bitterness around Luke and with his experience over the years, things like this have to be traded with caution. He still doesn't know if Luke still loves Alex but for the fact they both have something in the past, it will not sit well with Luke to see Alex happy with Josh. He can't jump to conclusions right now, he would have to watch Luke closely. "No Luke, Josh is in the hospital with her and I might visit later on. I am sure you have more important things to do with your time than to go sit around on the hospital premise. I don't think there is a need for that" Senior Bleak said and walked back into his room without waiting to hear if Luke agrees with him or not. He has some things to take care of since Alex is still unconscious, he better do them right now. Immediately his grandfather walked back into his room, Luke smiled, "grandfather, you seem to be overprotective of this your new daughter-in-law but will you always be there to protect her?" *********** Josh stared at the sleeping Alex and sighed again, he has been doing this since today and she has to be thanked for it. The doctor had explained to him that her losing consciousness was due to fatigue in her system and she might be waking up anytime soon, he hopes so because he was tired of staying at the hospital. There is no need to worry about her, when Alex, he knows, will not appreciate it so he is keeping his feelings neutral. "You are damned stubborn, you could at least seek for help. You are going in search of Ander when you are not fit?" He mumbled and massaged his neck. It was stiff because it had been in the same position for a long time. Sitting here and staring at her would not help him at all so he decided to run a bath for himself. He rang the bell by the wall and a nurse appeared immediately. "Please I need a change of clothes" He said and waited for the nurse to leave then he locked the door for security purposes. He might be in the bathroom and some nuisance would take advantage of it, he can't take chances. *************** Ander sat on the huge bed staring at nothing. He has been like this since he was shown the room. The room was twice their apartment and he had wondered why some people will be blessed to have abundant wealth while others will be blessed with little or nothing at all. The room was so well furnished that you would think it was a paradise on earth. The same thing applies to the side of the mansion he has seen. He loves what he sees but his joy would not be complete until he hears his sister's voice. The driver that brought him has been telling him one story or the other, which is beginning to irritate him. He sighed and pushed his backpack aside. "Sis I miss you. Where are you, why do I feel all is not well with you?" He said hoping to get answers. A knock came at the door but he ignored it. The person, having seen that the door might not be open if he continued knocking, opened the door and entered. It was the driver that brought him, he had a breakfast tray with him. He came forward and dropped it at the table at the far end. Silas saw that Ander was not looking bright and knew the young man was worried because of his sister. Who would not be? It seems they both share a good relationship. " You would need to fuel your system to give your strength to worry more. I have told you, your sis is fine and you are getting yourself worked up over nothing." Ander said nothing, only to continue looking at him, he actually has nothing to say to the man in front of him. Silas observed the young man and saw that even if he continued to talk from now to tomorrow, he was not going to say anything to him so he turned and left. Ander sighed and stared at the tray at the far end. He was hungry, so damned hungry and like the man said, he would need to eat to be able to continue worrying about his sister. He stood up and moved over to the table and sat down. He needs to eat and that's it. What a Christmas without his sister but he is not losing hope yet. The morning is not yet over.
