The Powers Within Me

~~PROLOGUE~~ Jacob's Pov "I'm back, dad." I said as I took his hand in mine. He opened his eyes slowly and he smiled. "Welcome back, son." He whispered. He closed his eyes again. I went on my knees and tears streamed down my cheeks. Dad finds it hard to talk, say anything or even move. His test results are also showing nothing sensible for the doctors to work on. I wiped my tears as I stood up, I went out of his room. The men outside the door bowed as I walked past them. I can't leave dad now. He needs me now and I'm not going back to New Jersey. My studies over there can be stopped. I went into mom's room and I sighed when I saw her standing by the window. I went over to her and I gave her a back hug. "Mom, dad would be fine." I whispered against her hair. "He looks so pathetic." She said quietly. "What if he doesn't make it out alive? What if........" "No what-ifs, mom. Dad would come out alive. I believe strongly but.........." I turned her to face me. "I'm not going back to New Jersey." "W......w.....why? What about your school?" "I can leave that behind and start afresh, besides, Jewels High is there." She smiled. "That's where you want to be right now? What about your friends?" I chuckled "They'd come for me if they are really my friends." I hugged her again and we remained like that for a while. (Monday Morning) • Mallory's Pov "Hello, everyone." Mr Henry walked into the class and all eyes were glued on him. Mr Henry, the information carrier. The class became so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. "Four students will be joining you all today........" "Yeeeeah!" Everyone cheered except me. I don't really like things like this. They should just come in and save us the saliva. "Okay, and they call themselves the JARS." The JARS? I scoffed. Now, that's funny! I looked at the door and the doorknob twisted, four flower-faced boys entered into the classroom and my jaw dropped. I looked at my classmates and they were also staring but the ladies were practically drooling "Please, introduce yourselves." "Do I really have to do that?" One of them said quietly as he walked over to an empty seat at the far corner of the classroom. Some guys can be so rude! I hate rude boys and this one had better not dare me. "I am Arthur Howard." We clapped. "Ray Cromwell." “Scott Houston." We all looked back to the last one. "Your name is necessary." He glared at mr Henry before placing his legs on the table. "I am Jacob Canavesi." He pronounced one after the other and everyone clapped again except me. Mr Henry sighed before walking out. I guess the man is pissed already. The three guys walked over to the remaining empty seats, one beside Jacob in the third row and two at the back in the middle row. I am on the first row with my best friend, Kacie. Unfortunately, she is not in school toady. Majority of the girls in class stood up and they went over to the boys. I know, guys who have pretty faces can be extremely sweet and funny, these ones are.........except Jacob. I just pray we don't ever cross each other. I can't believe I have fallen in hate with someone on his first day. Well.........who cares? If he messes with me, he would feel the powers within me........... . . . . Should I ride on?
