Jacob's Pov

I shoved Ray's hand away from my mouth as I glared at him.

"What? Am I not allowed to talk again?"

"No, you are not!"

Oh really?

"But, I've said it already."

They glared at me.

"What? Its not like I wanted to hide it, so?"

"If you don't know, know now......it can be used against you."

"How?"

And, just then Mallory walked in. She came over to me and I scrambled backwards. "What? What again?"

She laughed before passing my bed.

I heaved a sigh of relief.

Good gracious!

Mallory's Pov

(He would trip and hit his head his head on the floor when he steps out. Don't let that happen to him!"

I heard that voice again and I sighed.

Okay, fine, I get it!

I took a plaster and I placed it on my arm.

"What are you doing?"

I turned around suddenly to see Scott staring at me. "It looks healed, so, why are you using that? Let me see....." He came closer to me and I raised my hand to stop him.

"Don't come closer."

"Okay, ma'am"

He came closer eventually and he pecked my cheeks. I stood rooted to a spot as I gazed at him.

"Wow! Your cheeks are............." He winked at me before walking away. I placed my hand on my cheeks and I ended up smiling.

Scott's Pov

"You like her, don't you?" Jake asked suddenly as he glared at me.

I laughed.

"Come on, man, don't be silly. I'm still new in this school. Do I have the heart to like someone now? Don't be so funny, Jake."

I looked over my shoulder and I saw Mallory fanning herself.

I did that to taunt her.

It won't be bad to scatter her resolves, that's why I did what I did.

I love the look on her face right now.

"Let's just go. I'm tired of this room because of girl named Ma........."

She stood in front of him suddenly

"If you complete it, you are a dead meat."

I saw fear appear in Jacob's eyes and I held myself from laughing.

Is he really scared?

Or, he is faking it?

Ray and Arthur were also holding their laughter.

"Who do you think you are?"

"Your best enemy!" She licked her lips before walking away.

Jacob looked at me.

"Don't you think something is off about her?" He asked and Arthur snapped his fingers.

"Exactly! Mallory is weird!"

"Weird, my foot!" I muttered.

"Whatever! Enough of this, let's just get outta here." Ray answered softly.

Mallory's Pov

I frowned as I saw it.

Immediately he steps out, he would trip and hit his head badly on the floor, he would end up being in coma for months.

I have to prevent this at all cost!

I concentrated again and when Jacob stepped out, he almost fell but he regained his balance because of the arms around his waist.

I frowned again as my head began to hurt.

"How did you guys know I would fall?" He asked.

"What? We did nothing." Arthur replied.

"Who placed those strong arms around my waist, then? I know you guys did it, so, stop playing dumb."

"Whatever!" Scott, Arthur and Ray said at once as they walked away. Jacob also followed them.

I came out of my hiding place and I groaned.

I saved him again!

Its twice now!

I couldn't go back to class because of the mad and jealous girls, I went to the library instead.

"Mom, can you tell me the tale of our family? The tale of the Chalendars? I want to know, mom. I'm getting really curious." I said to mom after dinner. We were in the library sorting out some books. I saw a book which looked weird and rough with the title "Mysteries behind us."

I made sure mom was not looking, I picked the book and I placed it under the couch.

"Mom?"

"Mallory!" She called silently "you don't have to know, its not yet time and if you see this book, mysteries behind us, you must never open it, I repeat, never. Are we clear on this?"

I smiled foolishly "we are!"

She yawned. "I'm getting tired. Good night Mal."

"Good night, mom." I said as I kissed her cheeks, she walked out.

After few minutes, I picked the book and I ran to my room, getting ready to unravel those mysteries.

I closed the door and the windows and I placed the book on the table.

I want to know about the Chalendars!

I placed my hand on the book and the lights in my room went out.

The book opened by itself and a ray of light appeared within.

"By doing this, you've called the enemy to your doorstep, Mallory Waston Chalendars."

Wow!

A talking book!

"Your mom warned you not to do this."

I chuckled.

"Curiosity got the better part of me."

"Now, what do you want to know?"

"Everything about the source of my powers!"

"Your fore fathers were the keepers and protectors of a magical realm, though, there were two realms, light and darkness, your family was the one overseeing the realm of light. They were very powerful until darkness struck, the evil queen of darkness, Glewn wanted the blood of your fore fathers when she heard the prophecy "DARKNESS WOULD END BY THE BLOOD OF LIGHT."

Glewn sought out to destroy them but she failed.

During your grandmother's reign, she almost succeeded but Alei, the most powerful was never asleep.

One of Glewn's descendant had succeeded in drinking a little quantity of her sweat until Alei showed up and she was strucked down by lightening.

She was meant to rule but she died before doing that, so, all her children swore to make the last of the Chalendars pay for what Alei did, that's their quest and Mallory, the last of the Chalendars is you!

You are the only one with the power that matches Alei's!

Dear child, you are the daughter of light, so stop those naughty pranks you do in school."

I coughed as it continued.

"Glewn reincarnated but she is also the last of her bloodline. This fight should have happened between Alei and Glewn long ago but it is happening between you two.

Are you ready to send darkness out of this world for good?"

I shivered as beads of sweat started forming on my forehead.

I thought I wanted to know, but I never expected it to be like this?

I feel so numb?

Am I really ready to end it?

Can I do it?

"Are you ready, Mallory?"
