“You all right?” Amaya asked as we sat in Gabe’s home having dinner together.
I nodded, the food tasting like sawdust in my mouth. Even Amaya betrayed me. She should have told me that I was nothing to Gabe. Instead, she let me fall in love with him! How could anyone deny the words I’d heard with my own ears? And if he’d changed, he would have told me! Told me he loved me. Or expressed how much he cared about me. Aside from the s*x, there were really no professions of feelings from his end. It was understandable that he might be hesitant to have a mating ceremony.
