"Omg" I say staring at my mom "That's what SM means, Societies Misfits" I basically gasp picking up the photo examine every detail of the tattoo. "So what exactly does that tattoo mean, I mean there has to be a meaning behind every tattoo," I tell her with a smirk on my face "Everyone and everything has a story, Bridget," She says closing the black book and she begins to speak "I've been so afraid to tell you about my past because I'm such a different person than I used to be, I mean I own an run a business which has always been my dream, and we live in this beautiful house" She says throwing her hands out to imply that she is speaking about this house "I'm a different person from all those years ago and I've changed but sadly not everyone does," She says looking at my dad in the photo "May I ask what my dad's name was," I say with pleading eyes "His real name was Richard Henderson but from the time I knew him he went by Rocky," She says with fear in her eyes. "He was Russian and had the most gorgeous smile," She says recalling the memory The thing is I didn't know any Richards in real life, but I do know that someone named Richard tried to contact my mom when I was locked in her office "Mom I have to tell you something," I say scared She looks up from the ground as if she already knows what I am trying to say "I think my dad tried to contact you," I say with teary eyes She looks at me with a blank face and with no emotions "I know," She says standing up and walking to her laptop "But how would you know?" I say confusedly remembering I blocked him "It's very complicated and I will get into it in a moment but for years your father has tried to contact me," She says typing in her password on her laptop. "Why haven't you answered him," I say confusedly She takes a deep breath. "You may want to sit down for this," She says pointing her head to the White Chair in front of the desk Feeling nervous as hell I feel the room swaying and I quickly run to the chair not want my dizzy spell to ruin this conversation She takes a deep breath in and breaths loudly "Ok so, I should start from the beginning so I can catch you all up," She says half smiling "This may take a while" "I've been waiting seventeen years, I will stay here all night if I have to," I say trying to sound like I'm joking but it comes out like I'm being rude to her which I'm not. "Let me take you back to 2000, the year I met your father." She says looking up to the sky as if she can magically take us back there "I was nineteen years old when I was introduced to your father." "My brother Rodrigo Jr..." "Jr" I stop her confused "Oh yeah my father's name was Rodrigo Lovey and my brother was named after, him," She says smiling "Anyways so my brother was involved in a lot of very shady thingy," She says getting serious "What kind of things," I say wanting her to abbreviate on it "Well... The kind of things no one should ever really get involved with" She tells me not really giving me a lot of information but I just sit and listen "Anyways so my brother was a lot older than me, by five years" I stop her again "Do you have any photos of your brother, I want to be about to imagine him in my mind?" I say smiling "Well that's what I was going to show you," She says turning the laptop around to face me The man I'm greeted to has very dark brown hair with blue eyes and a square jaw, He looks like as if feel down and smacked her chin on the end of the washer and dyed and cut all her hair unevenly. I honestly didn't expect my uncle to look like this. It's not that he looks bad or anything just very unexpected. "Wow, he's... "Weird" She interrupts and chuckles "He looks a lot like my father but nothing like my mother," She says "Rodrigo was the rebel of the family, He would smoke weed outside my bedroom window and dad would come in a smell it coming from my room and he would always blame me" "Was he emo?" I say tracing my finger over the laptop screen around his eyes which are full of black eyeliner, not to mention the black leather and skin-tight jeans he was wearing. "Haha, Yes very emo," She says turning the screen back around. "I guess I should mention the rest family first since you've never really heard much about them" I nod and get a little too excited and let out a laugh "So my mother and father had two children including me. My mother's name was Bridget" She says smiling and continues, "I named you after her since that was my last promise I ever made to her," She says getting a little emotional but brushing it off "My eldest sister Casey was 26 and married with two twin boys, Carter and Issac. And obviously, you've met Rodrigo who was 24" She says like I've actually sat down and seen him face to face apart from my quick preview of him on the computer screen. "And obviously they had me there the last child," She says turning her head and smiling sideways. "So my mom was a midwife and my father was an engineer" "Do you have pictures of you and your siblings together with your parents?" I ask "Only one but it got damaged a long time ago," She says resting her chin on her hands. "My family isn't really important in this story so I'm just going to get straight into her I met your father" "So my brother Rodrigo would hang out with a lot of shady people and one day he brought some of them over to our house." "Rodrigo didn't have a lot of friends growing up, at most maybe one but after his friend Alex left town Rodrigo got with the wrong crowds and your father was apart of that wrong crowd" "So there was about five of them including Rodrigo over at the house" "Mom obviously didn't approve of so random people over the house, and what mother would when they all looked high off there heads. But I guess she was happy her son finally had some friends" She says and I feel bad since my house party had a lot of randoms I didn't know either and I felt kind of bad for her but I nod and she continues. "The odd thing was all of Rodrigo's friends looked all the exact same like him. From there hairstyles and clothes and even there personalities. But one of them stuck out to me" She says biting her lip "Your father was really the one who obviously stood out to me when I first met him. I remember Rodrigo and all the guys were down in the basement doing god knows what and your father Richard well he traveled alone from the pack. He didn't really rely on the other guys. I guess you could call him the alpha of the pack" "I remember when I was on the floor playing with the twins and he came upstairs into the "Kids room" my parents used to call it and he sat right next to me and we just chatted for hours upon hours. At first, I was creeped out by all his tattoos and obviously him playing with my nephews but I brushed it off because my sister was right there anyway watching the both of us so he wasn't going to do anything to them" "Bridget when I tell you he was so hypnotizing I mean it. His eyes were such a dark brown you can just fall into them and never come out of them. And he personality was like nothing I would ever expect from him. From the outside, he was very handsome but also rebellious on the inside, he had so many layers to him. One day he could be such an amazing guy and the next the worst person you could ever meet in your life" "That night we just chatted about the most plain of things, from what our favorite movies were to our favorite fruit," She says with so much glee in her eyes. It's so weird how I can just imagine my mom and dad sitting on the floor of her parent's house and just sitting for hours and chatting all night. I wish I've had a chance to do that with Jackson like my mom had a chance with my father. "How did he act, was he nice to you," I say imagining my dad to be the kindest person ever. "Well like I said at first he was the sweetest guy you could ever meet but towards the end, it just went so sour and downhill," She says and her smile suddenly disappears. "This is probably the part of the story that I am the most ashamed of and probably tried to avoid the most," She says getting all serious and I sit up very straight in on the chair as if a teacher is walking passed me looking to see if I'm doing my work. "My brother and your father were... How do I put this I guess involved in a gang" "A GANG!" I scream "What kind of gang," I say thinking about all the gangs you see in the movies. Like the drug lord gangs and the gangs that go around and vandalize things but I wasn't ever expecting what my mom was going to tell me next. "Well a bit of all and more but I need to explain this whole thing to you probably so you know how all of this gang worked" "So after that long night of chats Richard and I had, he told me to meet up with him a couple weeks later to chat. And little old naive me thought he was going to ask me on a date but I was very much clearly very wrong and I regret that I ever thought like that" I get a little bit nervous about where she could potentially be going with this but I stay as still as possible not wanting to trigger my dizziness again. "So basically I arrived at a city park where your dad had told me to met him and I went alone because it was still light out." "Why would you go alone," I say getting extremely mad at her "I was young and naive and at the time I didn't know how to drive and my parents were both working that day so I walked there not really thinking it through and I know what you're thinking but like I said I was a different person back then" "So I saw them all sitting and standing all around a park bench and your father was standing off to the side" "Omg I know where this is going," I say out loud not meaning to and she tilts her head confusedly "You do," She says confused staring into my eyes and I feel them cutting into me. "I don't want to say it because it's quite gross to think about but.." She stops me "No! It's not what your thinking" She says putting her hand up to quiet me "How would you know?" I say "Just let me finish telling you the story than you can ask questions of how I know things," She says half smiling "So most of the guys that were at the park were accompanied by either their girlfriends or how do I put it" "f**k buddy," I say wanting the story to go faster My mom goes bright red and nods "Anyway Richard was the only one who didn't have a girlfriend or whatever you just called it and he asked me out" "After one day," I say with my eyes bulging out "No... stop confusing me Bridget my mind is all over the place. It was like one month later from us meeting and chatting every night that he asked me out" "Mine too I mean I'm just waiting for you to tell me why you left my dad and how you got here," I say crossing my arms. "I need some time to regather my thoughts," She says getting up from her desk. "Met me back here tonight so we can finish this conversation I have to go to work for a bit," She says grabbing her laptop "But I thought you said you took the day off," I say shouting out to her but shes already out the door. I walk upstairs to my room and lay down on my bed still afraid to fall asleep. I exhale deeply and and dial Jackson's number "Hey Bridget" He says in the most sweetest voice And I reply with four words. "s**t just got real" .........
