“The vi-village is under attack, take Meredith and hide somewhere till I slow them down” Uncle Hans’ replied. I just stood at my place not believing my ears. All I could think of was Simon and Sandra. Were they safe? I stood there awestruck when mother swept me off my feet and ran following uncle Hans who led us inside a barn where there were other villagers and told us to hide till our soldiers came for us. It was a lot to take in. I heard cries of people outside, sound of clanking metals, cries of the dragons…Wait, the dragons! Why’re they crying?! Oh my god, what was happening?

The sight that the intruders left was horrifying, our heaven was no more, pool of bloods instead of the clear water…dead bodies of children, adults and the dragons scattered everywhere. With the few people that survived, we left our haven praying our misery would end, but who would’ve thought what lies ahead wasn’t any less worse.

This is not your typical fairy-tale or a love story where your fate changes as you meet your knight or your prince. This is my story where I am the knight and I am the sword.

It was a place which people of neighboring and other nation would often call “Haven of Water Dragons”. A small yet peaceful village full of different aquatic flowers with wonderful people and beautiful water dragons. Lucky me, I was born in such a place as the only daughter of the Chief of Adam’s ale, the Water Nation. Like its name, 70% of the Village was covered with water as it was the home for the dragons. We worshiped the spiritual dragon who brought us peace and prosperity and protected the village. With so little land, the people were happy and contended with what little we had. My father, the Chief was a generous man who thrived for peace and never once in his reign did he made the people and the dragons suffer from wars that happened in the neighboring nations. Because of the presence of the water dragons peace was maintained in the village among the people but little did we know that it was about to be short lived and our treasure, the dragons were to be annihilated along with the people…between the chaos, the birth of a new water dragon took place which wasn’t seen by the intruders as the mother dragon hid him under her wings, big enough to cover her baby. On the other side were me and my mother along with other villagers who were told to hide in the barn among the livestock by uncle Hans. Mother was holding me tight and so was I, her hands on my mouth so that the soldiers won’t be able to detect us. Our soldiers were killed and as a child, I had to witness our people die in front of my very own eyes. The intruders left but the sight was horrifying, our heaven was no more, pool of bloods instead of the clear water…dead bodies of children, adults and the dragons scattered everywhere and that was not all, they burned down the village. With the few people that survived, we left our haven praying our misery would end, but who would’ve thought what lies ahead wasn’t any less worse.
