The wedding

News of the engagement spread like wild fire. Lilith had already made friends in the pack and she asked Anna to be by her side at the wedding.  The final draft of the treaty was being finished and soon the witches and wolves would finally be able to live in peace with each other.        The day of the wedding had arrived. It was a huge gathering, the first of its kind. Witches and wolves would come together in record numbers for this occasion. It was truly an event that would be in the history books for the two groups involved. The pack house was decorated with flowers in a multitude of colors.        Samuel stood in front of the room filled with his pack mates and Liliths family and friends. Tucker approached him with a large grin “congratulations big brother” Samuel smiled back “thanks”. The music began and Lilith came into view. She wore a lavender dress that was off the shoulders and form fitting. Her hair was simple and her crown of flowers complimented her dress perfectly, babies breath, purple statice and yellow asters.       Thadius began to speak “welcome guests to this joyous occasion, we are here to celebrate the union of Samuel and Lilith”  he continued on with the ceremony. The time came for objections, suddenly Theo stood, followed by a few other pack members.  Thadius glared at him knowing exactly what Theo would say. Without hesitation Thadius continued on skipping that part of the ceremony. Theo narrowed his eyes as he took his seat.        The reception was coming to an end and most of the guests had already left.  Samuel could see Theo making his way over.  “Lilly honey, why don’t you go change so we can head out”.  He didn’t want his bride to hear this conversation. Samuel knew how Theo felt about the witches, it was a topic they had discussed many times.  “You really married that b***h” Theo said with a huff. With that last word Samuel was in his face “don’t call her that.” Theo raised his hands “alright, I concede, I couldn’t stop the wedding but I find comfort knowing you’ll never have children.”  With those cutting words Theo walked away leaving Samuel with his head lowered in defeat.        Samuel thought back to the day he had explained to Lilith that wolves could only procreate with other wolves. The mated couples in the pack that were human could never have children, it was part of the curse. Lilith didn’t care, she loved Samuel and that was the end of the discussion. That was the day he decided he wanted to make things official with marriage.  Wolves were not like others, once they consummated with their true mate they were mated for life.  Marriage was only proposed when an outsider was brought in or a wolf was unable to find their true mate. It was more like a contract, for binding purposes.         Lilith returned with a small bag, she looked into Samuels eyes and gave a weak smile.  She could tell he was upset but she wouldn’t pry. She took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze “ready to go?” He nodded in response and returned her a smile, he loved this woman and with that they left for their honeymoon.
