It was very apparent why Andrews inner dialogue felt odd. The first thing he noticed as he entered city limits were the onlookers. It appeared that they didn’t warm up to outsiders very well. Then there was the added bonus of his senses going into overdrive. He was more alert, his nostrils were filled with unfamiliar smells and his nerve endings seemed to tingle throughout his whole body. He had felt this way before but only once about two years ago.
Andrews hand felt the scar on his arm instinctively as he thought back to that night. It was unlike anything he had ever felt before and those town people were insane. He didn’t think he really had room to talk because he did have long conversations with his inner self. In all seriousness though that whole town was crazier than he could ever be. They attacked him for no reason and even called him some weird name. “What was it again?”~~~ “ROGUE” the inner voice replied without hesitation. “Oh yeah, but what did that even mean?”
Maybe some food would help, he hadn’t eaten yet and there was a little diner just up ahead. The smell coming from that place was mouthwatering. He walked thru the door and was immediately met with several pairs of eyes, all fixated on him. It was quiet inside, you could hear a pin drop. Then the whispers started again I heard that familiar word “ROGUE”.
I decided to take a seat at the counter and pick up a menu. To be honest I was a little scared I would be attacked again without provocation. All eyes were still on me, a man behind the counter approached in a cautious manner. I didn’t understand what he was so afraid of. I was the one being sized up by every set of eyes in the place.
I was about to open my mouth to speak when a movement caught my eye. Out of the corner where the bathrooms are located, a petite figure stood. Her crystal eyes locked with mine, strawberry curls hugged her face. She looked surprised by my presence. The voice in my head only said one word “mine.”
