The encounter

Andrews point of view      I was completely captivated by this woman who stood not far away.  She was petite but her presence emitted respect and power.  It wasn’t long before I realized everyone was watching her. Almost like they were waiting for her to give an order.  She was young and dainty, how could this little thing be in charge and why?  Sure enough she raised her hand and everyone seemed to go back to what they were doing.        She took a few steps over to where I was seated and sat next to me. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. Her plump pink lips were inviting and I held my breath as I waited for her to speak.  What was wrong with me?  I never had an interest in anyone before this moment. I was content being alone, my trauma as a child saw to it.  I was orphaned at the age of five and was never adopted I spent most of my youth in foster care before I ran away at the age of sixteen. My inner dialogue broke the thoughts in my head and urged me to speak to her, but before I could she pulled out her phone and made a call.       I listened intently as she spoke, my inner dialogue prodded “don’t eavesdrop, that’s rude” I narrowed my eyes “I’m not I just want to hear her voice” I was curious would it be as attractive as she was? She opened her mouth and spoke with confidence I could now see why she was held in such high regard to the towns people. Her voice was almost a whisper as she told whoever was on the other line to meet her at the diner. I could hear the man on the other end respond “yes, Luna” and then the call ended.  Was that her name? And why was I so enraged that she was speaking to another man?  I hadn’t even spoken to her and yet I was angered at the other man.       The man behind the counter place a dish in front of her, a burger that didn’t look nearly as appealing as she did.  She looked at it for a moment and then turned to me “have you eaten yet?”  I hadn’t even looked at the menu, so many thoughts were running thru my head to even think about food.  My stomach ended up answering for me as it made a loud rumble. I was dumbstruck and didn’t have a chance to respond before she let out a giggle, she tapped the counter “Tuck get this man a burger, on me”      My plate was sat in front of me and I finally had the courage to say something “thank you”.  She looked at me with narrowed eyes, like she was trying to solve a puzzle.  “You’re welcome” she said with a smile. A few moments later a man entered the diner. I assumed it was the man from the call because she patted the seat next to hers and he sat. He glared at me and then shot her a questioning look.  Not another word was spoken as we ate our meals.  I had finished my last bite and was watching her play with a few fries on her plate. It was almost like she was waiting for me to finish.  She then stood up and said “come with me, we need to talk.”
