Lilith listened intently as the situation was explained to her. Why would someone want to kill her, simply because she was a witch? There hadn’t been a fight between the two in years, according to her mother it was long before she was born and it was over territories. There were still arguments over territory but there was never a blatant attack like this.
Thadius and Anna agreed to come back in the morning so Lilith could rest. It had been a long day and Lilith had a lot of information to process. She was poisoned by someone, and she was going to have a baby. The baby news alone was a lot to take in. She had already come to terms with never being a mother and yet there was a tiny life growing inside her. A perfect combination created out of the love she and Samuel shared.
Morning had arrived, today they would decide what to do. Samuel feared for his wife and unborn child, someone had already tried to kill her once and if they knew of the baby they would definitely try again. Thadius had called to let them know he and Anna were on their way. Hannah put on a pot of tea as they waited for them to arrive.
“You have to leave” Thadius hated to say it but it was the only thing he could think of. No one could know about the baby, not even Tucker. The five of them had to keep it a secret until they could figure out who tried to kill Lilith. The culprit covered there tracks well. Theo was at the top of their suspect list, he never hid his hatred for the witches but he had an alibi.
Samuel and Lilith would leave in the morning, they would stay in the witches territory until they could find a suitable place amongst the humans. That evening Johnathan was called to the Beta house. He was informed that Samuel would be stepping down and he would be the replacement. “Samuel will never have a child of his own and your wife is due to give birth to your son any day, correct?” Thadius hoped Johnathan would believe his weak story. “Samuel is leaving the pack, so I need you to step up, you’ll also need to begin training your son as soon as he’s old enough.”
Samuel and Lilith left before the sun rose, it would be the last time the friends would see each other alive. Thadius called a pack meeting, he announced the change in the packs hierarchy, and Johnathans new position. There would be questions but since Thadius was the alpha the pack wouldn’t dare accuse him of lying. “I asked Samuel to step down as my Beta, Johnathan has agreed to fill his position. Samuel has taken offense to my request and has left the pack he and Lilith disappeared in the night. Let it be known that Samuel is now a rogue.”
