Chapter 8: The Dream

1250 Words
A man with red hair tinted with a little bit of gray hair stands next to a woman with long brown curls. The both of them had creamy dark brown skin and hazel coloured eyes in an exotic shape. The woman kept holding onto a wrapped bundle and sobbed while the man hugged her and tried to pacify her. The bundle the woman was holding had a child in it. She hugs the child tightly before handing her over to a woman clad in flamboyant regalia. The child looked to be about three to four years old and she had the same curls as the woman and the facial features of the man. The girl starts wailing too while being carried away from them. With her tiny hands stretched out to them she kept on calling out " Papa! Mama!! Don't go" before she was sent through the void. She sees the woman lunging forward as if to hold unto her but it was to late and everything started to fade. I open my eyes instantly, my whole body covered in cold sweat. I sit up and when I looked around me I relaxed immediately when I realized that I was in my room. Ashley was still sleeping peacefully with her arms and legs tossed about carelessly on her bed while snoring also. " It was that same dream again" I say while rubbing my eyes. I check the clock and saw that the time was 6:30am in the morning. I stood up from the bed then headed to the bathroom. After washing my face, I stare at myself in the mirror. The face I saw looking back at me had a slight resemblance to the couple I had seen in my dreams. My curls, eyes, the shape of my eyes and nose all resemble each of them. It was like the man and the woman were combined into one person. "What kind of dream was that? Who are those people and how come I am having a dream about them. What connection do I have with them; both the couple and the girl child." These were the questions that kept circulating in my head while I was brushing my teeth. After brushing, I took my bath before going out into the room. I look at the clock which said 7:01am so I went over to where Ashley was still snoring away to wake her. " Hey sleepyhead, wake up. It's 7' o clock already and we have a bus to catch by 9:00am. At this rate we will be left behind" She wakes up groaning and yawning while stretching her upper body. " Hmmm...... Good morning Mira" she says sleepily while rubbing at her eyes. " Good morning, sleeping beauty. Did you have a good night rest?" I ask while I went over to the refrigerator in the kitchenette. I pick out a bottle of water and drank it. " You are exceptionally early today, did you have that same dream again" she says while standing up to join me at the kitchenette where she bent over on the counter top. " Yes, it's the almost the same dream but today's was a little different from the usual ones." " How so? What made this particular one different? What exactly changed?" " You know at the beginning I had dreams containing only silhouettes and barely audible voices and eventually their features became noticeable gradually. Today's was different in that I could see their faces and hear the voices very clearly. There was a man with reddish colored hair, a woman with brown curls very much like mine and a child of about three years old. Their eyes and skin colour was also very much like mine but their dressing was very strange. I had never seen anything like it before. The room they were in was designed intricately with gold and the walls was decorated with some symbols I couldn't identify. The child was calling out to the man and woman as 'papa and Mama' so I guess they must be her parents. The woman and the child were crying a lot before the child was later sent through a void then I woke up." " Hmmn....." Ashley says while deliberating " I am thinking that it could somehow be a memory from your past that you have somehow dug out from deep within your subconsciousness. Those couple may very well be your parents since the way you describe their appearance sounds very much like you describing yourself. You also said you saw a girl child who looked to be about three or four years old which was by the way the exact age you were when you were found and registered at the orphanage". " You may be right" I say while moving away to my closet to select my cloth for the day. " I have been thinking alot about that possibility of them actually being my biological parents and it makes sense because of the uncanny resemblance between us" I say while picking out a pink flayed top and pairing it with a friiled three-quarter jeans trousers. " It's really weird how you are just remembing something like that now. I mean why now? Why are you having this dreams now after all this years?" She says agitatingly " Exactly, that's what has been baffling me too lately. I never had this dreams before so why are they popping up and messing with me now. It's driving me crazy" I reply all the while dressing. " Alright.... Oh my gosh! Is that the time?" She says when she accidentally caught a glimpse of the clock at 7:30am " we will continue this conversation lately Mira, I need to get ready or we will definitely be late for our departure" she says while rushing into the bathroom. I start laughing while watching her being flustered over the time and our imminent journey. " Hey Mira, you know it's your fault I ended up dallying around instead of preparing so you can just help me to finish up packing my luggage. I forgot to put in my new Jimmy choos and my latest Fendi dress" her voice trails to me all the way from behind the closed doors of the bathroom. " How many times have I told you Ash, that the professor said that the area we would be going to is a desert and doesn't have all this modern clubs and also that the topography of the place is actually very rough too so there is no way you can pull of a beautiful clothing like that one there" I say exasperatedly " Oh okay, but can't we just take the dress alone and forget about the shoes?" She whines from inside the bathroom " no we can't" I say in reply "Killjoy" she mutters while groaning pitifully. "Don't forget to carry with you the sexy wear I bought for you. Since Ramzan is going to go on this trip with us so you have to make sure you catch ahold of his attention" Upon hearing his name, my mind became at ease and I kept on arranging our bags while humming excitedly. I couldn't wait to get on the road, for the journey to start and most importantly, I can't wait to see Ramzan. This trip will be awesome and fun. I will definitely use this chance to get closer to him Or so I thought.......
