Chapter 3

~Elena~ “Knock, knock” I groan when someone knocks on my door and enters my room, early in the morning. “Get up Lena, we are going to the field” I heard a voice say. Carlos. The last knight of the group. I turn around and face him, standing in the middle of my room, with his arms crossed around his chest. His short curls are pulled back in what seems to be a ponytail, his tanned skin shines with the sunlight that is entering my room, and his green eyes are looking at me intensely. “Not now, Los” I groan out and turned around once again, giving him my back. I heard steps coming my way, and he snatched my blanket in one swift movement. “Ugh! You are so irritating!” I snapped, but he only looked amused. “Anger. That’s good. Now get ready, you are going to let off some steam” “I don’t want to do exercise right now” I said, getting in a sitting position in my bed. “Then what do you want to do?” “Scream?” I shrugged, but once again he only smiled, amused. Like a true Mexican or any Latino for that matter, he pointed with his mouth to the window that is in my room. He raised his eyebrows, inviting me to open the window and scream my heart out. “Really?” I asked, getting up from the bed “Sure” he said with a shrug, and I smiled at him. I walk around my bed and to the left side of my room. I opened the window and lean on it, peeking my head out. No one was in the streets, so the coast was clear. I lean back and turn my head to look at Los. “Go on” he urged me, and I took a deep breath. I leaned out the window once again and close my eyes, breathing in the fresh air. “YOU f*****g PIECE OF s**t! SCREW YOU AND THE SO-CALLED BEST FRIEND. YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER! AND I HOPE YOU BOTH ROTE IN HELL!” I finished screaming and I felt my muscles relax. “I hope that wasn’t intended towards me” A male voice asked. I snapped my eyes open and look around to see a shirtless 6 feet tall man, with black messed up hair, deep green, and olive skin, he stood proud across the street with his arms folded around his chest, a basketball dropped by his feet and a towel draped on his left shoulder. My eyes widen when I realize who it is. “Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in” he whistles lowly, looking at me with a devilish grin on his face. “What are you doing so far from home and your lover?” “It’s none of your business, but if you must know, I’m transferring” I say, looking at him up and down, his defined v line, the six pack and the sweat droplets that cover all of his body. When I managed to lift my sight to his face, he is sporting a knowing smirk, and I had to cough a little and look away. “Damn Brownie, I didn’t know you were transferring to this university. It seems my senior year has just taken an interesting turn” he smirked and winked at me. I scoffed out in disgust and glared at him. I flipped him off, but he just laughed, a laugh that made my skin prickle in goosebumps. I closed the window and walked far away from the window. Shit. I didn’t think he lived around here. Just what I needed another reminder of Noah. “Who was that?” Los asked once I was standing in front of him. “Damion Pierce, Noah’s enemy” I said, rolling my eyes and rubbing my temples. I just really need this day to be over with, and it’s only getting started. “Okay, first no more saying his name, second stay the hell away from that Damion, you don’t need boys right now” Los said looking intensely at me and I nodded my head. - After showering, I walked downstairs and into the kitchen where I heard the boys talking. “What are you guys talking about?” I asked as I sat on the empty stool that had a plate of pancakes placed in front. As much as I love my mom’s food, Mike’s came in a close second. “We have training today” Zack said while pouring maple syrup on his stack of 6 pancakes. “But there is still a week left of summer” “Football doesn’t mess around, sis; we need to be in our top shape” Ale said walking in the kitchen and getting a plate to stack some pancakes. “Can I tag along, then?” I asked and they all turned to look at me. I never did enjoy watching the guy’s practice, but I’m bored in this house, and I want to keep my mind from wandering to a certain cheating someone. “They are normally private, but you can come. You know, knowing the team does has its perks captain does” Mike said, and I smiled. - I’m bored. After saying “hello” and receiving hugs from the team, I took a seat at the bleachers. For the first few minutes the boys stretched and ran some laps. Then they started to do some drills and tackling each other. I pull out my phone once it started to vibrate, it’s an incoming call. I look at the caller ID and a smile came across my face, just what I needed. “She is a b***h” Josh, my best friend said, and I let out a small laugh. “I swear that if I could, I would punch her in the face” “She isn’t even worth it” I said playing with the hem of my crop top. “How are you?” he asked concern in his tone. “Well, you know me, I’m okay” I said softly. I pull my legs up and rest my head on my knees, I place my phone on my left ear. “Are you really though?” “Yeah” I whispered “Okay…” he trailed off, he doesn’t believe me “Look, I have to go, but I will visit you as soon as I can” he said, and I nodded my head, even though he can’t see me. “Okay” I say and hung up the call. I let out a breath and looked around the field. It’s peaceful out here, no wonder why the guys love to pass their free time here, rather than in the house. I lift my head when I hear two voices coming my way. Two girls walking past the bleachers chatting away came into my view. They went silent once they made eye contact with me. “Hey!” The one with long blonde hair spoke up, her hazel eyes shined with happiness, and her pale skin makes me want to take her to the beach. “Girl, what are you doing sitting here all alone?” The blue-haired one asked, with a smile. Her light brown eyes scanned me with curiosity. “Just waiting for the football team to finish practice” I said, getting up and walking towards them. “I’m Bree and this is Violet” The blue-haired one said. “You got a boyfriend in the team? For you to be waiting out here in the sun, all alone?” The blonde one asked. “No, a brother” I said, putting my hands in my back pockets. “Damn, you must love him then” Bree said, “I can’t even be in the same room as my twin brother without a fight breaking loose” Bree finished with an eyeroll, and I laughed. “So, what number is your brother?” Violet asked, turning to look at the field. “Uh…number 27” I said, pointing at Ale once I spotted him. “Shut up! He is a knight! Does that mean you know the four knights?” “Yeah” “Are they as nice as they say they are?” Violet asked in a whisper, and I looked at her with a weird expression. “Vee, you are weirding her out! This is why we don’t have any other friends” Bree said, with a sigh. I laughed a little and they both looked at me. “I think we are going to be great friends” I say with a smile, and they smiled back at me. “And yes, they are as nice as they say they are”
