My Two Fated Mates

Chapter 4

After I locked up Maddies Bakery, I couldn't shake the feeling of meeting my mate out of my mind. Even when I ran across the pack territory towards my dad's place, I couldn't help but think, Why didn't he acknowledge that we were mates? Why didn't I? As for me, I was shocked, nervous, and shy. He was my dream guy, literally my wet dreams. Tall, dark and handsome with those dreamy blue eyes and messy black hair that makes you want to run your fingers through them. Damn.. I only said a couple of words to the guy, and I am already a drooling mess. I think he did not acknowledge me as his mate because he also seemed to be in a rush.

Clearly, he's siblings with the bossy Rayne. I'm surprised he's actually my old friend Romana's older brother. I always knew she had an older brother, but I have never seen pictures of him, nor have I ever met him until today, that is. Romana was my friend back in elementary school, but her and her family moved away years ago, and I lost track of them, and I do remember her telling me of her older siblings. I have seen pictures of her sister Rayno, and I've heard stories of Rayne and Romana, but her brother Ryker is a mystery. I never saw him, never did I ask where he was, nor did I know anything about him.

Now that I know he's my mate, I am very curious now. Not just that, even if he wasn't my mate, I'd still be curious about him. He's a stranger to our small community. Hardly anyone who is new to the community ever stays longer than necessary. Everyone in this community knows each other. Not on personal levels, but we know each others names, faces, and most families. If I know anything, he's kind of the old new. Meaning, I know for a fact his family has lived here for a long time just like mine, that's where the old comes in... He's new because he's literally a new face around here. Gosh, I love a good mystery, and this man Ryker will he my new mystery to solve when I get back.

I sat in my dad's vehicle and waited for them to come out of the house. I had about 20 mins left to read one of my romance mystery books on k****e.

After reading a couple of chapters, I put my book away as I sense them walking out. My dad was first and gave me a smirk. He knew I'd win. Cruiz, however, had a slightly annoyed look and stomped to the backseat while I quietly snickered. My dad got in and said, "This meeting is in the nearby city, about an hour away, it's an Alpha meeting and since the council have to remain here to look after the pack they're sending me, as always. Like as if I'm standing in for an Alpha, remember we aren't run by a council, but when we are there, we are the Beta family. We can't let the other Alpha's know that we don't have an Alpha. You know the consequences if they find out. Also, our Alpha is dealing with a lead on his father's killer, if anyone asks. Also, remember to cover your vampire scent Cruiz. I know your sister doesn't have to. She already smells like a wolf. You are both there to learn and observe, nothing more. Speak only when spoken to, and do not leave each other's side. Even if you need the bathroom, you will escort each other everywhere. Got it, kids?"

Our dad was a quiet and reserved, strategic, intelligent, wise man, and when he does speak, it's with great authority. We both nod and say, "Yes, Beta." Our dad then nods in approval of our reply and starts up the vehicle. By this time, we both know not to say anything during the trip, so our dad can remain focused before the meeting. We can't bicker or chat. Our dad loves the quiet. Quite frankly, so do I. So, we drive off in silence, and I continue my book while sitting comfortably in the front seat.

When we arrived, we parked in the parking lot in front of a huge dark brown brick building, with dark tinted windows all around it. It was a 4-story building. There were already a lot of vehicles parked and some pulling in. I got out and stood beside my brother Cruiz, who is 6 feet tall. I glanced around and saw other Alpha's and Betas with their sons or some with their daughters. Every Alpha and Beta were required to bring their 2 eldest high ranked children with them and their Lunas if the Lunas wanted. However, most Lunas stay and look after the packs.

"Let's go." My dad mutters as he strides pass us with brief case in hand.

We fall into step side by side behind our father as we head towards the building. We head into the front glass, double doors and enter a tiny lobby, and walk into an elevator right across the entrance doors. We go straight up to the 4th floor. We walk out of the elevator into a short hallway, and we turn left down another hallway with brown doors on each side with white walls. We walk straight to the end of the hall, where there are two big dark brown double doors. As we approached the doors, the guards that were standing on each side held the doors open for us as we passed.

Inside this room were high ceilings with white walls all around and 4 huge windows at the opposite wall of the doors from where we entered. There were rectangle tables made into a huge rectangle with chairs all around the outside of the tables. In the center of the rectangle was a table of the model of the city. At the left side of the room were pastries, dainty trays, fruit and vegetable trays, with cheeses meats, crackers, pickles, small cold cut sandwiches of different varieties Besides that food table, there was a drink table with coffee and tea set up with take out cups, with necessities, and beside that, a mini fridge filled with water, juice, and energy drinks. I glance at Cruiz, and he's already licking his lips.

"Please, help yourself to some light snacks while we wait for the others to come in." Someone spoke up from their seat.

We didn't care who spoke, Cruiz and I both walked up to the food section of the room and grabbed and filled our plates in a hurry. I'm rushing to see who sits down first. We both bumped into each other before we took our seats. Our dad clears his throat, and we look up at him, and he sends us both a glare before he sits there with his arms crossed over his chest. Cruiz glances at me and mindlinks, "Cool it."

I frowned at him and rolled my eyes as I took a bite off my ham and cheese sandwiche. "Lena, get me a coffee." dad says.

I nod and get up to grab dad a coffee, I quickly mindlink my brother, "Do anything to my food when I am gone, I will spill dad's coffee on you by accident." I smiled in satisfaction when I saw my brother gulp. I quickly grab a to go cup and poor my dad a coffee, black coffee, and walk over to my dad and give him before asking, "You want anything to eat?" Even though I know he doesn't eat at meetings.

He shook his head and gestured for me to sit back down beside him. Cruiz was on my right side. I quickly checked the time and it was 8:50 am. It's almost time for the meeting to start. They usually start at 9 am on the dot. These meetings are intended to renew pack alliances or to break alliances or to talk about troubles in their own packs, and they seek other leaders' advice. we brainstorm and problem solve. Also, there are sometimes business proposals, where we can ask Alpha's permission to place a*****e in their lands, etc. These meetings usually take up half the day or the full day, it depends if there are big problems or not. One time, we had to sit through a whole day for two Alpha who were at war with each other over land claims. They kept trying to fight and shift during that time. Hopefully, this meeting will go by fast and peacefully.

I just had to think that, didn't I and go a jinx myself. Right at 8:58 am. The double doors came open, and 2 handsome men came walking in with Alpha Auras. The biggest of the two men came in first and stopped to look our way as he sniffed the air, with him, came a strong sandlewood scent that hit my nostrils at the same time that his golden colored eyes widened and locked with mine at the same time, I instantly knew by his scent that he was my fated mate. He and I gasped at the same time and whispered, "Mate." Everyone's eyes turned towards us, and people started whispering to each other while my heart pounded hard in my chest, making it difficult to swallow my food that I was still eating. I'm going to choke, I just know it.
