“What the hell do you mean, she left?” Jake bellowed. He couldn’t f*****g believe it. He was nursing a hangover from hell, maybe still a little drunk, and she was gone. Off to another city looking for a new husband.
“Henry and Ryan said her ex came back and she left. I’m sorry, Jake. I really thought you knew.”
Jake paced the room, seeing Alyssa in every inch of his home. She was on the couch, sleeping on his shoulder. In the kitchen, kissing him against the counter. Sitting at the island, sharing dinner. It didn’t matter what Jake did or what he wanted, Alyssa would always be there.
“How could she go back to him?” Jake asked, not really expecting Lana to answer. The guy cheated on her. Hit her. Insulted her. And yet, she went back to him.
“I’m really sorry, Jake,” Lana said softly
