CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN

The day of the quiz bee came. After a few rounds, Elena and Ella was the only left for the final round.

Elena don’t know did she came that far, but she was happy that she did. Seeing the audience where she can see her Aunt Elle watching her with a happiness is glinting on her eyes was already a satisfaction for her.

The final question had given, and Elena wrote her answer quickly on the white board that was provided for them, and showed it without hesitation and satisfaction, and Ella followed after.

Their answer came different from each other for that last and final answer.

Elena stare at their score and saw that it was a tie and the last answer would defined who would be the champion for quiz bee.

Elena again turn her gaze to her Aunt Elle and saw her mouthed good job and signed a thumbs up that made her smile.

All she can think now is, she don’t need to be a winner, because seeing her Aunt Elle happy was more than enough for her than being a winner.

And as for Ella, she deserve it, if she would end up being a winner for she saw everything that Ella did, she was almost camping at the library and even inside their classroom she can still see her studying.

The result came after a second that they finished, and it declared that she won, which made her in glee, but when she turn to see Ella, her happiness disappeared specially when she saw her walking out.

Elena, didn’t think and followed Ella, leaving everyone that watching astounded, and Ms. Estrella who suddenly felt worried and stood up as well to follow Elena as well, but when she came to the backstage where she saw Elena and her classmate exited, she found none.

A thud from behind made her turn around only to see Ian, Elena’s bodyguard.

“Did you Elena?” she asked worried.

Ian shake his head, “No, she suddenly disappeared.”

“Then what are you doing?! Find her again!” she commanded out of worriedness.

Ian nod and without a word he left her to continue searching for Elena.

On the other hand, Elena continued to follow Ella and end up at the isolated part of the university.

“Ella!” she called, but Ella seemed didn’t hear her.

“Ella, wait up!” she said.

This time more louder to make sure that Ella would hear her, and Ella really did for she saw her stopped. Elena took a step closer to Ella, but she halted when Ella turned to face her.

She can see madness, tiredness, and other more that she can’t distinguish on Ella’s eyes.

“Why are you following me? You took everything from me, aren’t you still didn’t satisfied?!” Ella asked full of hatred.

“I-It’s not that E-El—” she was about to reply but she was cut by Ella.

“Then what?!” Ella spat.

Ella went closer to Elena and started to poke her on the shoulder hard that made Elena step backwards.

“Do you now feel sorry or pitying me?!” Ella asked, “then this is what I can tell you. Don’t, because I don’t need your pity. Do you understand?!”

Elena didn’t answered and just let Ella pouring her frustration and anger, for just like what she said she know better than anyone else to be feeling like that, and she is willing to help Ella from it.

Ella was a nice classmate even not for her, but she witness how Ella helped their classmates in their subject whenever they were having a hard time, and most of all, Ella is a hard worker, and she didn’t mean to be a top 1, it was all unexpected, even she herself can’t believe it.

After a while Ella was able to calm down, and was about to leave her when a familiar group girls came. Elena recognize them as the group who teared Ella’s work.

“Look what we’ve found, the two top students in our school.” The leader said playfully with a smirk plastered on her lips so as the other two girls.

Elena saw Ella stilled in place, when the girls showed up. Even she herself can feel nervousness as she stared at the group.

From what she had find out after that night that she was them at the hallway, she found out that the group was the most delinquent group in their school, but they weren’t able to be kicked out for even the teachers were afraid to these girls.

They bully students as they please and when they set their eyes on the particular student they saw, it was sure that they can make that student like miserable. She also find out that these girls had cause two student in their school committed suicide after being bullied by them.

“By the way Miss top 1, seemed your handsome body guard is not around.” The leader said again roaming her eyes in their surrounding.

“Seemed, I can finally teach you a lesson for that night.” The leader said again, coming closer to Elena and playfully slapped her face two times.

Elena felt a sudden thud of fear as she stare at the leader, not only for her but also for Ella who as still rooted beside her.

“Cat got your tongue?” the leader asked again. “you even dare to warned us b***h!”

Ella gasped when a n echoing sound of a slapped filled the isolated surroundings. Now she regret coming here, only to escape but this happened.

Elena’s cheeks heated after the slapped on her face, and stare at the leader who slapped her with shocked.

“That’s just a beginning of your lesson for meddling our business.” The leader said, then turn to other girls with her.

“Hold her!” the leader commanded to the two girls.

As fear engulfed her system, Elena took a step back but, the two girls had already hold  her. Elena turned to face Elle who was still remain standing but she saw her fist was clench really tight that made it almost turned white.

“W-What are you going to d-do!? Let me go!” Elena said while struggling.

The leader just chuckled and turn to face Ella with amusement who look like was just holding herself back.

“Are you just gonna stand there to watch? What a good friend you are.” The leader said mockingly.

“Then, I think you wouldn’t mind if I’m going to do this to your friend.” The leader provokingly said.

As Elena closed waiting the slap to land on her face but she felt none, and when opened her eyes she saw Ella, holding the leader’s arm.
