CHAPTER FORTY FOUR

Elena went to the door where she saw her grandpa and Ian went in a while ago. She knock three times but she got no response from the people inside. Slowly she opened the door and peek and saw the two men seems in a serious conversation that they didn’t notice her knocking and even opening the door.

Thinking that she might disturb their conversation. She decided to just wait for them to finished, but as she was about to close the door, she suddenly halt as she heard her grandpa mentioned Dana’s name.

“About that lad, named Dana, have you got anything from her before she died?” Mr. Vaughn asked to Ian.

“Not really sir, but she had told me to keep Elena safe from her father, for she her is scheming something towards Elena.” Ian said.

“She also told me that her father had gathering men, and she was afraid towards Elena.” Ian added.

“Did she told you who did that to her?” Mr. Vaughn asked again.

Ian nod, “It was her father who did it to her, while was escaping to see Elena.” Ian replied.

Elena didn’t know what she will be going to react upon hearing her grandpa and Ian’s conversation. She  just felt her tears started flowing down on her cheeks.

She hurriedly closed the door where her grandpa and Ian was, and lean to the wall and wept with all of her heart’s content. A mixture of hatred, for Raffy began to succumb on her system and at the same time, sorry for Dana, and anger towards to herself.

“I-I’m sorry, I-I’m sorry.” She mumbled as she wept.

Dana died because of her, if she just be strong she must have depended herself and not dragged people lives who is so dear to her in danger.

All of what happened to her from the start had enter her mind, from killing her innocent classmates because of petty revenge, her suicide attempt because of her being a coward that leads her Aunt Elle slowly dragged into danger.

Dana being her secret protector at school and even now that also killed her, Dr. Monte who was just supposed to be her doctor but he was dragged as well and now Mr. Vaughn, her grandpa. She just only brought trouble to the people around her, but what is she doing? She was just keeping being a burden to them. Elena thought.

“Elena what happened? Why are you crying?” Dr. Monte’s voice made Elena’s thoughts of regret cut.

She forgot that Dr. Monte was in the living room and was probably saw her from the distance.

Elena calmed herself before she wiped her tears and shake her head before facing Dr. Monte and give him a fake smile.

“Its nothing Dr. Harris,” Elena said. “By the way, grandpa is still haven’t finished talking with Ian, can you still wait, I’ll just go to my room.”

Elena reasoned out to excuse herself, but the old doctor didn’t response and just look at her like he is saying that you don’t need to try lying in me, I’m your doctor, but Elena didn’t bulged in and decided to leave Dr. Monte,

“There you go again, trying to conceal what’s on your mind. I thought you already give me you trust.” Dr. Monte said that made her halt from leaving.

Elena can’t resist her emotions anymore and face Dr. Monte with her real emotions, and wept again, but this time more loudly. She is pouring all of her heart’s content in that weep. The doctor just let Elena weep for she needed that. He meant what he just said, to make Elena show what’s inside of her for if he will just let Elena being like what she did a while ago, she might be back to square one.

Some of his patients like Elena, had trying very hard to conceal and not voicing their problems, thoughts, sorrows  and regrets that leads them isolating themselves and ending up having a depressions and anxiety.

After sometime, Elena was able to collect herself again, and Dr. Monte took her to the garden where Elena would feel relax and calm as they go on, on their another counseling session.

Dr. Monte let Elena to be the first to open the conversation, and while waiting, he can hear Elena withdrawing deep breaths multiple times.

“I didn’t  mean to eavesdropped.” Elena said after a while.

Elena bowed her head as Mr. Vaughn and Ian’s conversation ringed in her ears.

“D-Dana,” She said gulping the lump on her throat, “she died because of me Dr. Harris.”

“I heard she was escaping to see me, and was hurt by doing t-that.” She stated, as a tear starting to fall to her eyes.

Dr. Monte stand more closer to Elena, and reach Elena’s shoulder and tap, “Its not your fault, don’t blame yourself.”

Elena shake her head as a decline to what Dr. Monte had said. “No, it is my fault. Everything was my fault!”

“If I was just strong to depend myself, I wouldn’t end up like this while endangering your lives.” Elena said in despair.

Dr. Monte didn’t say anything and let Elena spill what is she thinking, and from there he was able to know a lot more about Elena’s thoughts. The lad is still stuck in her regrets, and was still holding unto it that’s why it is still keep coming out, just like now.

He wanted to help Elena for this, but he can’t do anything, for just like her amnesia, forgiving and acceptance must all begin on Elena’s will and all he can do now it to listen and advice Elena to start with herself, but even he will keep on advising Elena, if Elena won’t accept it, it wouldn’t be done.

But, all of it. He was glad when Elena broke down a while ago, but what is he worrying now is the lad’s safety for it was too endanger and he is sure that what happened a while ago will still going to happen again.

Then, somrhing popped out to his mind. It was Eleanor, he remembered Eleanor mentioning to him about she will going to stay with Elena from now on, that made him even more scared.

Dr. Monte collected himself. He must talk to Mr. Vaughn as well, he thought.

After the session, Dr. Monte escorted Elena inside the mansion again, and that’s where Mr. Vaughn and Ian had just come outside.

“How is it?” Mr. Vaughn asked as they got closer to each other.

Mr. Vaughn signaled to Ian to take Elena to take a rest, who was just silent and was obviously came from crying because of her puffy eyes and reddish nose.

“What happened, was made Elena shocked that’s why she lost consciousness like what you had reported, the good thing is Lena didn’t came out that time, for we all know what kind of personality that Lena has.” Dr. Monte reported.

MR. Vaughn nod but was halted when he recall Elena’s face before Ian took her, that Dr. Monte saw and explain immediately.

“About Elena’s face a while ago, she told me that Dana died because of her and wept.” Dr. Monte explained that made Mr. Vaughn stilled.

Elena heard them, he thought and turn his gaze to Dr. Monte, “And?”

“Elena is still blaming herself from everything that is happening, and I was worried that if that blaming herself would be frequent, she might end up isolating herself again.” Dr. Monte confessed.

“For now, all we can do is to make Elena feel that everything what happened is not her fault, especially Dana’s death for that is triggering Elena.” He informed.

Mr. Vaughn, at what Dr. Monte said. Dr. Monte had also talked to him about something and ending up allowing him what he wanted to do.

The doctor left but, he told him, some more things that could help Elena before he finally left.

He went to where he told Ian to take Elena to rest, and saw her sleeping with her brows knotted. He chuckled at the sight for he was like staring at Selena, Elena’s mother.

Selena, his daughter is just like her daughter Elena, Elena is a mirrored face of Selena, and they also has a few similar traits, less Elena’s eyes for she had taken it from Sander.

Staring at Elena right now made Mr. Vaughn teary eyed for he misses his daughter, Selena too much. He is still hurting for Elena’s parents death that made Elena end up like this because of the trauma that she has, and now his granddaughter lives is in danger.

He would, do everything to protect the gem the his daughter, Selena left, to him, he will avenged what Raffy had do to his daughter’s family.

He didn’t able to succeed back then but, he will make sure that he will now, without letting his granddaughter to be hurt.

Elena felt someone is staring at her that made consciousness awake, and as she opened her eyes, she saw that it was her grandpa watching her, she also seen him secretly wipe his eyes as soon as he realize that she was staring at him.

“Sorry, Did I woke you up?” Mr. Vaughn said.

Elena shake her head and give Mr. Vaughn a smile indicating that he didn’t disturbed her.

“You know what, you really like your Mom when she was at your age.” Mr. Vaughn said suddenly as he stared at Elena that earn a smile from Elena.

Mr. Vaughn reach out his hand and put it at Elena’s shoulder.

“Everything that is happening isn’t your fault, always remember that,” Mr. Vaughn said. “You must not blame yourself.”

“And always remember that your grandpa will do everything for you to be unharmed.” Mr. Vaughn stated.

“You are my daughter Selena’s precious gem, and mine also, and I will do everything to protect our family’s precious gem.” Mr. Vaughn added as he look at his granddaughter dearly.

Elena, didn’t know what to say, she was still blaming herself, yet here is her grandpa ready to protect, and thinking that she will endanger someone who so dear to her made her feel more coward than what she was before.

Dana’s life is enough to wake her up from being a coward. Her Aunt Elle had almost taken from her and she can’t bare to have her grandpa endangered because of her too.

Yes, she understand that they care and love her that’s why their doing this, but it was her battle to begin with, Raffy had took her parents lives and made her life miserable, so she must fight him, even now that Lena is not appearing, she will go and protect her love once this time.

Elena stare at Mr. Vaughn and nod as she gave him a small gentle smile.

Mr. Vaughn tapped her shoulder again and gave her a contented smile before tucking her in.

“Rest now, and don’t think, I know your tired.” Mr. Vaughn saaid.

“I’ll be at my office, you can asked Ian outside if you need anything, for now think about resting first.” Mr. Vaughn added before he left.
