Chapter 8

"Come on, guys! It's one week to nationals!" Mr. Schue says to us.

"Can you give us break, Mr. Schue? I'm tired." Mercedes says and almost fall.

"Whoa-oh dont fall here." I catch her body and hold her.

"Because you are the one who will fall afterwards." Puck chuckles.

I frown at him and chuckles. "I'm sorry but you dont have to catched me actually." Mercedes says to me.

"Alright everyone take five. I want to go to the teacher lounge and take my coffee but I want you guys back to be rehearsal when I'm back." Mr. Schuester says to us and walk off.

"I wanna die!" Finn sighs and lay his body on the stage.

I'm standing on the corner and looking at my feet because it seems getting better day by day and which mean by the nationals begin I can leave my bandage and plaster.

"Can you help me with that moves?" I ask Mike as he keep rehearsing.

"Sure. Follow me." Mike says and start dancing.

I'm standing behind Mike and follow the moves he made until he roll around with one feet and I try to follow him but I lost control and fall to the ground.

"You okay?" Mike asks me.

"Yeah I'm fine." I nodded. "Anything could happen." I giggle.

"Maddy, if you fall and your feet broke again, your dad will yell at me." Finn rolls his eyes.

I roll my eyes and stand up from my seat with a help from Mike. I look around and the others are look tired and have no passion.

Suddenly a sound of applause ringing. We turn our face and Mr. Schuester is applauding to us and smiling at us.

"This is what I'm talking about! Nice job! Now from the top!" Mr. Schuester says to us.

Mike plays the music tape again as the music start begin and we do oue choreography again for the nationals with one song.

Yeah Mr. Schuester already pick up the song and it's original song again that we wrote together. I just really cant wait for the nationals because it will be my first show.

"Finn, are you okay?" Mr. Schuester asks Finn.

I turn my face at Finn and frown. "I'm fine, I'm just tired." Finn nodded.

"Hey, what are you doing tomorrow night?" Puck smirks at me.

"My boyfriend asked me to help him to go out." I grin at Puck.

Puck just frown at me and walk little bit further than me. I know he is cute and kinda hot one but he is a player, I guess.

I'm laying flat on the carpet floor in my room and reading some girls magazine. My puppy is sitting down on the sofa and fall asleep.

"Maddy!" Dad shouts.

"Yes, dad?" I shout back.

"Can you come here for a while?"

"Coming!" I shout and walk out from my room.

I walk downstairs and turn my way find my dad. I enter the living room and dad pack something to a box.

"What's that?" I ask dad.

"Some stuff for charity. Can you bring this box to Finn's house and give it to Burt? This is not heavy. Only some clothes and little things." Dad says to me.

"Okay then." I simpy said and lift that box and went out from my house.

I open my fence and turn left to Finn's house. I see his car is parking outside but I dont see his parent's car or maybe they just go out.

"Finn?" I press the knob but it's unlocked.

I press the knob and open the door. This house seems empty. I look around then place my box on the table in living room.

Suddenly I heard a glass broke from the upstairs. I walk upstairs in hurry and Finn's room door is open. I take a baseball stick in case there is a robber or killer so I have a weapon. My dad taught me about this.

I saw Finn is trying to reach a glass but he cant. He really look so weak and I guess he is sick.

"Hey, you okay?" I throw that baseball stick away and help him.

"I'm thristy. I want drink." Finn says weakly.

I put my hand on Finn's forehead and he is burning up. "Stay here. I will get the drink for you." I said to Finn and walk downstairs.

I walk to his kitchen and take a glass of drink also a bowl with warm water and a face towel. Where are his parents?

"Here." I said to Finn and give the glass of water to him.

After that I place the glass on his side table and take those broken pieces of the glass. "Be careful, Maddy. Or it will hurt your finger." Finn says weakly.

"No, it's fine. You just take a rest." I said and clean those broken pieces then throw it to the trash.

Then I take vacuum cleaner and clean the carpet floor from another little pieces of that broken glass. I take a look at Finn and he just close his eyes.

I take that face towel and place it on his forehead. "Thank you, Maddy." Finn says weakly.

"It's okay. You want to eat something? I'll cook you food okay." I said to Finn and about to walk off.

"No, stay here." Finn catches my hand.

"Okay." I chuckle and take his chair and sit down next to his bed.

"Your hand is really warm." Finn says as he keep holding my hand.

"Shall I call Rachel for you? Maybe you could feel better if she is here." I said to Finn.

"No, you dont need to." Finn shakes his head.

"Why? You love her. She loves you. She is pretty, talented, smart, and a jew. Besides that..."

"Would you stop? You're beautiful." Finn half-smirk at me.

"Disgusting." I chuckle.

"If Puck ask you go out, please say no." Finn says to me.

"Why?" I raise my eyebrows.

"He is a player. He just want to get into your pants. Just dont do that. I dont want you to get hurt." Finn says.

"You're disgusting when you're sick. You better close your eyes and take a rest." I said to Finn.

"No, because if I close my eyes, you will go." Finn shakes his head.

"Okay since when you become a spoilt big baby like this huh?" I chuckle. "I'll stay. Dont worry."

"Maddy, I really meant what I said." Finn says to me.

"Ssshhh stop talking and sleep. I'm here." I said to Finn and pull the blanket to cover his body.

I compress his forehead with the face towel. Finn close his eyes and fall asleep with heavy breath. I know he got flu and combination with fever.

I look around and I got vaporub. I open his blanket a bit and move his hand from his belly and unbutton his flannel shirt a bit and rub his chest with his vaporub to make him feel better.

After that I button his flannel shirt again and pull the blanket to cover up his body. I never see Finn sick before. All I remember since we were little when I was sick, he suddenly become the emergency nurse for me who will bring everything I need in minute like a flash.

I'm standing from my seat and turn my face to his book rack. I'm looking for my comic books and I will bring it home back to my house.

I take one my comic book until suddenly a paper fall down from that book. I take that paper and open it then read it. It wrotes 'I like you'. The paper is cut paper from a drawing book and it wrotes with crayon.

This handwriting also looks like a child handwriting. But for whom Finn wrote this? Is it for me? Six years ago?

I can see there are another cut paper. I open it one by one and those are paper that Finn used to have conversation with me through the window also the picture that he made with words 'Finn and Madison forever'.

I close those paper and place it back to his book rack except for the first one that fell. I keep reading that paper but I really remember that Finn never say this to me.

All I remember is only the time when he kissed me and told me that he loved me. But it was six years ago. When we both eleventh. When we both loved playing along and didnt understand what is love.

"Finn? You there?" Rachel suddenly walks in.

The paper I hold suddenly fall down to the ground. "Oh-oh-hey." I smile nervously at Rachel and take that paper quickly then place it back to his book rack.

"You're here." Rachel raises her eyebrows at me.

"Yeah. Finn is sick, I was about to take these book and my dad send me here to give Burt about charity stuff actually. I didnt know you came." I giggle.

"The door unlocked so I just came." Rachel half-smiled at me.

"Well, since you already here. I better go. He cant stop calling your name." I said to Rachel and hold some comic books then walk out from Finn's room and close the door.

I start walk away from Finn's room but I stop my way and turn around because Finn needed me. But no, Maddy. It was just a stupid thing that a eleventh year old boy could do.

I let out a sigh and walk away from Finn's room and get to the downstairs and went out from his house. I dont know why I feel something different inside me right now.

Rachel's POV

I just frown as Madison went out from Finn's room in hurry and seems like she hide something but what is the thing she hide from me?

I remember about the paper she hold and she place it back to Finn's book rack. I walk to Finn's book rack and take that paper.

It's not only one. But there are too much cut paper and seems like a conversation paper. Is it the conversation between Finn and Madison when they were little?

I keep reading that paper until I got the one about a picture between a boy and a girl and there is a line under it wrotes 'Finn and Madison forever'. What is this? Did Finn made this one?

I open that paper again and I found a paper and it wrotes 'I like you'. Did Finn really wrote this again? But I know it's kid handwriting even it wrotes by a crayon.

Did Finn already say this to Madison? Did he really meant it? I dont know but it was when they were little and it must be stupid thing that children could do. Just forget it, Rachel.

I place those paper back to Finn's book rack and forget it. All I know that Finn loves me and I love him. That's it. It was the past and I'm facing the present and future.

I take Finn's hand and hold it. Yeah Finn loves me. They're just bestfriend since little.

"Maddy..." Finn open his eyes slowly.

"Finn? You awake?" I smile at Finn.

"Yeah it's me." I smile at Finn and change the compress from his forehead.

Finn's POV

I feel like someone hold my hand but this hand isnt warm like it used to be. What's wrong with Madison's hand?

"Maddy..." I open my eyes slowly and Rachel is sitting down on a seat next to my bed.

"Finn? You awake?" Rachel smiles at me.

"R-rachel?" I frown at her.

"Yeah it's me." Rachel grins at me and change the compress from my forehead.

"But last time I fell asleep it was Madison." I said to Rachel.

"Yeah she went home and took her comic books away and I'm here now." Rachel smiles at me.

Why is she going? I told her to stay here with me but why she left me? Does she forget that I usually become her personal nurse when she was sick? But why she didnt want do the same?

"She told me that you cant stop calling my name. That's really sweet." Rachel smiles at me and hold my hand.

"I'm sorry if I make you difficult." I half-smiled at Rachel.

"No, not at all." Rachel giggles. "You hungry right? I will cook the dinner for you." Rachel says to me and stand up from her seat.

The sun already goes down. Rachel stand up from her seat and close the curtain of my window. I wanna stop her but I can. That's my only way to check out is Madison in her house or not. Rachel just smiles at me and walk out from my room.

I just let out a sigh and sit up on my bed. I turn my face at my book rack and Madison took all of her comic book with her! Damn it! I'm forget I hide something there. I hope that she wouldnt find it. At least until the right time. God, help me.

Madison's POV

I'm sitting down on the sofa near my window and looking at Finn's window. Why I feel really worried about him? I know I shouldnt left him but I did.

It feels different since I read that paper and the way he said that I'm beautiful. But I know he got fever and he must be dreaming or something but that paper keep stuck in my mind.

I keep looking at the window until someone close Finn's curtain and turn on the lamp inside his room. I just let out a sigh and looking straight in front of me.

I take my comic book from the mini table in front of me and about to read it.

"Honey, dinner is ready!" Dad shouts.

I let out a sigh and place that book back to my book rack and went out from my room. I walk downstairs to get to the dining room.

I'm just sitting down on the dining table and being quiet. I dont know something os wrong with me. Like really really wrong.

"Hey, you alright?" Dad asks me and sit down in front of me.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I nodded.

"Why? You seems being quiet since you went back from Finn's house." Dad says to me.

"Finn is sick. He got fever and flu." I said to dad and eating my food.

"Then?" Dad raises his eyebrows at me.

"Done. I just give him a glass of water and took all my comic books he borrowed then went home." I said to dad.

"Why you didnt stay? You know that when you were sick, he usually be your personal nurse. I trust that boy." Dad chuckles.

"For what? His girlfriend was there so I dont wanna disturb them and I better go home and having dinner with the best man in this earth." I giggle.

"I got it. I got it." Dad chuckles then eat his food.

"Dad..." I roll my eyes and go back eating my food.

Yeah that's my reason. When we grow up there are less words we say to each other and we also have to know our line. I cant do anything or say anything I want to Finn. There must be rules.
