THE BULKY FIGURE
Four days later, on a Friday evening, Bella sat on Jamie’s couch beside Martha, who was shaking as she drew a hand through her strawberry-blonde curls, her green eyes darkening.
Jamie had called her earlier that day to request Bella’s help after Martha had received disturbing news. Bella agreed to help Martha, given she was still struggling with the separation from her husband.
Jamie had given them privacy and disappeared into her bedroom.
