Celestine's POV
"Hey Celestine!"
Luna calls me, my friend since childhood.
"I'm not in the mood right now, Luna!"
I said irritably.
"Your dad's speech isn't over yet, why are you leaving?" pagtataka ni Luna dahil nagdadabog akong lumabas ng hall.
"Pwede ba Luna, shut up!" pagtaas ng boses ko because of anger.
"Why does your face seems like naiirita at galit na galit sa mundo ha? Hmmmm let me guess, you've been embarrassed once more, haven't you? Your dad paired you up again in the middle of his speech at Anderson Hall, am I right?" Luna said while laughing as if teasing me.
"What's funny, Luna? You're just annoying me even more!" pagtataray ko sa kanya.
"Wala! you're being snarky every day. So ano nga, what happened to you ba ha." patuloy pa rin akong iniinis ni Luna.
"Ugh! I just encountered the most annoying guy earlier! Can you believe it? Daddy embarrassed me in the middle of his speech and this guy butted in and judged me! And what's even more irritating, he's the same guy I bumped into the other day who spilled coffee on my clothes. My blood boils!" I said while almost wanting to kill that guy in my mind.
"You're really a problematic woman! A hothead, I'll guess again. You fought back, right? You said hurtful words or maybe you even slapped or hit him." Luna said while just shaking her head.
Inirapan ko na lamang si Luna sabay taas ng kilay.
Sa kalagitnaan ng pag-uusap namin ni Luna, my dad emerged, and it looked like his speech was over.
"Opss, speaking of your dad." pang-aasar ni Luna sa akin.
"Hey Celestine! What drama did you pull this time, huh? You left in the middle of my speech! What's your problem?" saad sa akin ni Daddy.
"Opss, I think i have to go, bye Tito, bye Celestine!" Luna said as she left, knowing I was about to get another sermon from my dad.
"You've been rebellious since you were a kid! I can't understand you anymore! Let's go home, get in the car, and we'll settle this at home." nagagalit na wika ni Daddy.
"Whatever." I replied to my dad while being defiant and even rolling my eyes.
"Celestine, get in the car, bilisan mo!" pagsigaw ni daddy sa akin dahil sa kupad kong kumilos.
"Okay fine, dad! Calm down!" pang-aasar ko kay daddy.
"I didn't play around with you, okay? We'll settle this at home!" wika ni Daddy habang nanlilisik ang mga mata.
As I got into the car and we were about to leave, I saw from the car window the guy who annoyed me in the hall earlier, and by chance, we locked eyes from afar. I glared at him to intimidate him.
Habang kami ay bumabyahe, my dad and I are having an argument again about on my degree na kukuhain ko. He wants na mag law ako even ayaw ko.
"You're getting older, Celestine. You're not a child anymore. By now, you should know what you want in life. Go to law school and stop your foolishness about becoming a doctor!" pamimilit sakin ni Daddy.
They're trying to pressure me into following my Daddy's footsteps and continuing our law firm business. Pero ayaw ko, may katigasan ang ulo ko
"Oh god! Damn it! Here we go again."
pabalang na sagot ko kay Daddy while I making some funny noise so he couldn't be heard.
"Daddy, ever since I was a child, I've wanted to be a doctor. Why do you keep insisting ba na maging abogado ako? Dad, I'm not interested in that law stuff! Can't you see!" pagtaas ng boses ko.
"Don't raise your voice at me, Celestine. I'm still your father! I know what's best for you, that's why I'm pushing you towards this!" napasigaw si Daddy habang pilit akong dinidiktahan na sundin ang gusto nila at hindi ang gusto ko.
"You know what's best for me, Dad? Really? How is dictating something I don't even want good for me? I'm worse than a prisoner, you're blocking what I want, I can't even do the things I want just because of that damn 'I know what's best for you' that you always say." I said accusingly as tears slowly fell.
"You don't understand, Celestine! I'm doing this for your own good!" pangangatwiran sakin ni Daddy.
"My welfare? Or the welfare of the prestigious reputation you're safeguarding as a famous and exemplary lawyer. Come on, Dad! Let's not fool ourselves here." I replied to dad, suddenly Daddy fell silent and was taken aback by what I said.
"Don't use and try to convince me that what you're doing is for my own good, Dad! I know you're just protecting your name in the world of law, you just want to be remembered as 'Great Atty. Luis Miguel Anderson." dagdag ko pa.
"You know that's not true, Celestine.Take back what you said! I'm willing to do everything for your own good, I've been a good father, but why are you being so stubborn?"
"Fighting for what I want, Dad, doesn't make me a stubborn child. I just don't want to regret things later on. Please try to understand me, even just this once!" saad ko habang unti unti nang tumutulo ang luha.
"Since I was a child, Dad, you've been controlling me, but I understood that. I followed what you wanted even though I felt miserable because of what you were doing. I'm suffocating, Dad! I'm older now, I know right from wrong. I hope you'll understand me and support what I want, even just this once, please!" My pleading words to Daddy.
"I'm sorry, Celestine. But no matter what you do, I won't agree to what you want. Whether you like it or not, you'll go to law school." pagmamatigas ni Daddy sa gusto kong mangyari.
Daddy's mind is really made up, he's firm and I can't convince him to agree with what I want. Mas lalo lang lalayo ang loob ko sa kanya.
A while later, we arrived home, and I grumpily got out of the car. I entered the house and slammed the door loudly.
