Chapter 10

RAIDON I stayed at the coffee shop until Khi made my request. It pissed Sandra, obviously, but I told her that I just wanted to try a different kind of coffee today. Luckily, she believed me. Thank the heavens she believed me because if she didn't, Michie will kill me! It was already 5:30 p.m. and I was still hanging around the coffee shop. I noticed that Khi was just about to leave. I walked up to her before she could leave the shop and held her hand. They're so small and soft. "Yes?" She asked, taking back her hand immediately and raising a brow at me. "Oh. Uhm... do you... do you want a ride home?" I asked, rubbing the back of my neck sheepishly. She finally smiled at me, soft and cute, "Thank you, but my dad is picking me up." Fuck. I want to squeeze her chubby cheeks. She finally bid me goodbye and got out of the shop. She rode a gray Ford pickup and drove off. I watched her leave and I sighed. I walked back to my seat by the counter, slumping. "You alright, Rai?" Sandra asked. I forced a smile at her and nodded, "Yeah. Uhm... I'm good just... uh... tired, I guess." "You know, if... if it'll make you feel better, we can... we can go out tonight for dinner." She said, shy and coy. She batted her usual fake lashes at me. I swallowed thickly. "Yeah. I don't think I can do dinner, Sandra. I have some important papers to review so.... yeah. Maybe next time, though?" I laughed sheepishly and she nodded in excitement. "You promise, ok? Dinner next time!" Sandra happily trudged away. She rushed off to finish the orders and I breathed a sigh of relief. "Lowkey? I feel bad for you. I can tell you're eyeing KC, but Sandra's been f*****g attached to you since day one and you just can't shake her off." Michie chimed, wiping the counter. "Very funny, Mich." I scoffed and finished my coffee. I paid a $20 bill and didn't bother with the change. However, before I could leave the shop, Michie's words stopped me. "Look. If it helps to make you feel better, I'll give you KC's number." She said. I hesitated at first and glared at her. Then, I sighed and decided to take the bait. I walked back to the counter. "Alright. What's the catch?" I asked, resting my elbows on the counter. She smirked, "A $100 gift card on Sephora." That's it? That's all she wants? "That's all you want? A f*****g gift card on beauty supplies?" I asked in disbelief. I raised a brow at her and she just nodded happily. "Yes. That's all I want." She chirped, "And that's not just a stupid gift card, you know? Sephora is expensive and I'm trying to get you to donate your money to me." "Alright. Fine. I'll bring it here to you tomorrow when I grab my coffee." I sighed and she squealed happily. Seriously. Girls with their makeup obsession are the craziest. She then hurriedly fished out her phone and I did as well. She gave me her number and I made sure it was the right one. As I was writing Khi's name on my phone, Michie said something that surprised me. "Don't f**k with her, Raidon. I'm telling you. I'll kill you if I find out you're messing with her. She's too sweet and innocent and I just... really felt bad for you because you looked so gloomy." She looked away, embarrassed. I laughed, "Don't worry. I just wanted to be friends with her is all." "Yeah right. As if your horny ass can take that." She huffed. I thanked Michie and didn't say goodbye to Sandra. I got in my car and typed her a message. Me: Hey! Michie gave me your number and was hoping to see if she wasn't lying to me. I didn't wait for her to reply and drove my way home. I was smiling widely and was too excited that I stopped by Krispy Kreme to buy my family some sweet treats. As I recited my order, the girl in the cash register looked at me as if I was crazy when I asked her to give me 5 boxes. I smiled at her. "It's for my family." I reasoned. She just ignored it and went on her way to assemble my order. I should probably bring a box to the coffee shop tomorrow. Wait. What? Why the f**k am I doing? °°°°°°°°°° When I got home, mom was so excited about the doughnuts and immediately snatched the boxes from my hands. I blinked to make sure she really did grab them. "What made you buy doughnuts all of a sudden, hmm?" She asked, opening one box. "I just passed by and was craving some so I bought a couple. Also, save one box for me! I'm giving it to someone tomorrow." I said. I was actually too happy that I wanted to treat my family and maybe even give some to Khi. I was relieved when my mom didn't ask who I was giving it to. "By the way, where's Xavier?" I asked, dropping my bag on the kitchen island as well as my coat. "He's playing basketball in the backyard. Oh. You're dad's watching TV. Tell him dinners ready." Mom said with her mouth full of the doughnut. I chuckled. "Don't ruin your appetite for dinner, Mom!" I warned as I walked to the living room to see dad watching a game of basketball. "Dad. Dinner's ready." I said and he just hummed, too engrossed with the show. I walked to the backyard and watched Xavier play. I decided to intervene and snatched the ball from his hands. I ran towards the ring and dunked the ball. Xavier huffed, "Show off." "Just seeing if I still got the moves." I laughed and wrapped an arm around his shoulder, "Come on. Dinner's ready. Where's your mom and dad?" "They went on this 3 day vacation in California." Xavier said, catching his breath. "Oh. It's their anniversary, right?" "Yeah." We both arrived at the dining room and everything was set. I closed the box of doughnuts when I noticed mom was reaching for another one. "Raidon! Don't deprive your mother!" She yelled and I just laughed. "No way. Dinner first and then dessert." I said and my mom huffed, sitting beside my dad. We ate happily, yet occasionally, I glance at my phone, checking if I have a new message or anything from Khi. Minutes passed and we were done with dinner. I was eating a glazed doughnut when my phone chimed. I looked at it and jumped off of my seat. It was from Khi. I opened the message and was surprised by her reply. She knew it was me. Khi: Raidon? Why did Michie give you my number? Me: Yeah. It's me. She gave it to me because she said she felt bad and I looked gloomy when you left. :( My reply was immediate and I waited for her to respond back. One minute. Two minutes. She hasn't replied and I was starting to think that she didn't really want to talk to me. I sighed and just as I was walking up the stairs to my room, she responded. Khi: Oh. I see. Well, that's fine. Just don't spam text me, ok? I chuckled and replied, stopping in the middle of the stairs. Me: Alright. Noted. :) Khi: :> She was too adorable even when texting. I headed to my room with a huge smile on my face. I took a quick shower, got dressed and walked to my desk. My smile faded and I clicked my tongue. "Damn it. I still have a project budget to review." I mumbled to myself and started typing away on my laptop. Well that ruined my mood. f*****g hell.
