CHAPTER ONE FREDDY'S JOURNEY Freddy stepped out of the house wearing a sad face,his parents were waiting outside the two roomed house opposite a one flatted house to say goodbye to him.The four-seated car was parked at the exist of the compound ready to leave. "I suppose life gonna be different from what you used here,"Edah said in a low voice. "Most likely because everything is going to be different,"Joseph said. "It seems strange, but I will manage,"Freddy replied. After a long waste of time,it was time to leave.The door of the car swung open and he surged forward like a police officer to climb in.He sat behind where his brother sat silently playing with his phone. "Ok,"Freddy's voice wavered,"Let's pray that God will give us safety journey." "Work with zest and zeal,"Edah shouted,'I love you son." The two brothers settled in the car and it sped steadily out of the village. Freddy gave thought to the large picture of his relocation when his parents broke the news,he was dumbfounded.It was like a thunderbolt had stuck his midday blue sky.He recalled how his life got changed few years ago,he was born in a unified family where their was love and care, hope and courage, work and money,as good as he remembered, the family never lacked anything.Alth The change began its journey when he was ten years old,his father was retrenched from work and engaged in drug abuse.His mother had to care for children.That was the distressing news the family had never received stoically in their lives, but he always blamed the so people called Omulosi who had already created enemity with neighbours and some relatives.Now the captured pictures of the family members are floating in his mind.Freddy always believed that its his fate-the destiny that he can't change.Tears always rolled his cheeks when he thought about his past life, how enjoyable their lives were? ALL his happiness with friends began here,the school made him who he is.If its about life,it got changed in this background.He hd chosen to forgive but the most painful thing was to lose his friends-Joseph and Caleb.Even if he is going away from the county,it's this county that made him suffer.Its because of it,he had experienced life.But will revenge be the best option?Will the destiny change? "I think am going to miss my sisters and my parents,"Freddy's voice drew Martin back in his senses. "Yes,"He said in a lower voice."But sometimes we have to sacrifice for a better future.Everything we do has a purpose,it is BECAUSE OF SOMETHING." Freddy had to start a fresh,in anew world he going to be.He remembered the happy moments he shared with his four sisters.Khusuna Lukoye is the game they all loved.The funny game was a circle drawn with centre and four parts, each part represented his sister.Each part was indicated by a position of a politician. One part,was her little sister,she didn't like to work, everything seems to be hard on her,even if she tried,she could not manage. The other part represented a happy,jovial girl always in different moods, she didn't like hardship as she was a lovely daughter of Joseph,she looked upon herself because of her brownish color.A humble girl-Josi.He saw her as a senator of the state. The third part represented a very different girl,he always sat near her, listened to how she murmured while studying at the table and that made him mimicry to what she presented.The girl who used her left hand to do everything unlike others who used right hands.Most of the time they involved in fightings but they travelled together when visiting Mt.Elgon.Avi,the governor of the republic. The last part represented a very charming brown girl, which he always thought she was the queen of the universe, Freddy shared with her as she cared for him.She could not do anything alone,not only did they travelled together but also they played together.Whenever they were apart,her picture floated in his mind,he loved her.The only sister he could tell his problems and the he was the only brother she depended on and revealed her secrets.Genty,she was the queen of the world.His brother was the only brother he thinked at his childhood.But at the age of ten years, Freddy was amused ,was it a lie?That he had other siblings?That is when he learned that his father betrayed them,did he?No, their father never cheated, people laughed at them , but the most painful was to be called illigitimate children. "Easy,easy Freddy,"said Joseph teasingly. "But they are calling me illigitimate child and am not, they're harsh on me Joseph,"Freddy answered in a rising voice,tears rolling his cheeks.Joseph and Freddy were friends,the two had good memories captured and stored in their minds,but the world separated them.He was indeed a friend ineed. Now even if he thought of him,he don't want to recall what Happened to him after his friend had gone away. The car stopped at the petrol station which was twenty eight kilometers away from Kitale town.Freddy did not allow the past to hunt him like the one who possed demented spirit,but he let the present guide and show him the beauty of his country.Little did he know about Kenya 🇰🇪 was his county-Bungoma.Now he was experiencing an adventure for the first time.Although,it was getting dark,he could observe a little.As Freddy observed ,Martin thought there had never been any argument or rivalry between them and their neighbours.Simiyu's family was from Kobelo clan.The clan was at the centre surrounded by the Chemwile on the right,Kiabi on the west,Musomi on the north and Kayabi on the south side.Joseph was there when OMUSINDE to be performed.However,his brother was OMUKHEVI,he did it for clan benefits. The car roared and within a minute,they were rolling to Kitale town.Freddy strained his eyes in the evening darkness to see the town beauty which was to be his new home.Their arrival came sooner than what Freddy thought,the gates where his brother lives swung open.People looked at him with a little scary at their faces.Some surged forward to greet them.The children from neighbouring house opposite to the apartment down the yard looked at Freddy-the stranger.He was let by his brother to the house,they seated in the living room,they talked and talked.How was the journey? How was the family doing?How about the in-law who was far away in Nairobi? How was aunty who lived in Mombasa doing? Freddy's in-law had inquired while waiting for dinner.Martin and his wife went to buy some snacks, Freddy was left with his brother's child.He observed and interacted with him.After ahalf an hour,a knock on the door,he opened it.A little girl entered the house inquiring Bright about homework given by class teacher after she had greeted the visitor. The girl sat down and she was busy doing her homework wearing a white dress.Bright was busy changing the TV channels, watching this and that. "Uncle can you assist me do this homework now,"the girl asked in a low voice.As she stand,she was apparently five feet tall with long black hair resembling his mother's soft hair. "Yes,by the way what is your name?"he asked as he pulls the book closer to him. "I'm Cynthia,"she said while smiling. Freddy's mind reminded him about his mother.His mind flew back just early in the morning how his mother had advised him not to interact with bad company abusing others in any way how. Freddy was born in 2003 in Maeni area.He was the fourth child of Edah and the twelve child of Jose.Since he was born his family lost everything,they were welcomed by poverty.His father was a pastor and a famous farmer in the village.The word 'poor' described them while his father started drinking alcohol.The problems hunted Jose's family one by one, especially Freddy.He went through a lot of pain. After Freddy finished helping Cynthia with her homework, Bright was watching a wrestling tournament fight.In no minute,his brother and his wife arrived.All gathered,sat at the dining room.They seated around a table where everyone was served.A brighter electrical bulb lit in the apartment down the yard.For six years or so that Martin was away in Kitale,his younger brother acted as the head of the family.His father wa far away in Kericho for work purpose while his mother was in Webuye for Delia's burial-where his brother David refused that Edah would stay there for sometimes.They remained only five children.Genty was the elder one,she had joined in form one in Tulienge girls secondary.Avi, Freddy and Josi were in Kasiamo Primary while Becky had not yet started schooling.All had pounded Love between him and his sisters.The love created a strong bond.The clan showed love;Love pounded them together.Love kept the community,clan and families unifie. Love strengthened neighborhood,all depended on each other,but lies and pretence,hatred and selfish, witchcraft and idolatry destroyed love between families and clan,clan and communities.Love was destroyed in one day. As Freddy thought about his family,he also thought about new surrounding.He was determined to find LOVE in town.But he no nothing about loving.Will he find love?He took a book and a pen and wrote 'BECAUSE OF YOU' He closed his eyes and allow the cool air through his nostril. "Now let the story begin,let it be written,"he said as the lights were out off and the room where he slept was filled with darkness,it was time to rest after having a long journey.
