Chapter 15

Ava

I was feeling a turmoil of emotions. Too many things happening to me within a short period of time. I was in shock. I was obviously not expecting this but somehow, I wasn’t upset. I have this feeling coming from within me and keeping me at peace. I can feel Luke tense next to me, without doubt waiting for my reaction. I can only imagine what he felt when he found out. I looked at him, I was trying to gather my thoughts so I could say something. The doctor confirmed my doubts, I was pregnant, I had so many questions I didn’t know where to start.

“Is the baby ok?” I asked. They both looked surprised. Dr Scarlett was the first to talk.

“Everything is going great. You are about one month in, four more to go.”

I didn’t need her to tell me when it happened, it was perfectly clear in my head. Luke kept caressing my hand. It made me remember those hands all over my body. I shifted in the bed so I could control my feelings, Luke looked up at me and gave me a shy smile that made me blush. My god, he was even hotter than before. I concentrated back to the doctor. She kept talking.

“You both are ok to go now, I will be signing your release papers so you can travel back to your pack. Just take it easy with, training” - she said slowly as if she didn’t mean it. Gosh, she was talking about s*x.

“She will take it easy Doctor; I will make sure of that” – Luke interfered.

“Good, at least for a couple days. I will get the paperwork started. Come find me if you need me” she said and left the room.

Luke and I kept looking at each other. No one wanted to the be the first and break the silence.

“Please tell me how everybody else is” – I finally asked. I know that’s not the subject we needed to discuss but I felt like we both needed to process all this information before talking about it.

“We didn’t lose anyone from our pack, you were the only one severely wounded, on the other hand Point Black pack lost some of his warriors, Alpha Raphael included.”

“Please don’t tell me that” – I said covering my mouth, my eyes now filled with tears. Alpha Raphael was always so nice to me. He didn’t deserve to die, especially not on the hands of hunters.

“I’m sorry Ava, everyone was very saddened by it. He was a great Alpha, and he will be honored and remember as such. They are getting everything ready for his final goodbye today, after that we are going back to Moon Light” – He was looking at me as if he was trying to smooth the hard truth of the present. My heart was starting to beat faster, I felt sad but comforted by his presence. He was getting closer to me; his hand touched the side of my face and I leaned to it. He was giving me a sense of safety. I felt like he was here to protect me, but my job was to protect him. He gave me a quick kiss on my lips, it wasn’t s****l, but it felt soft and sweet.

“I’m just so glad you are ok Ava. You came back to me and I’m never letting you go.” – He kept himself closed to me, touching my forehead with his, this felt intimate in a different way. Yes, we’ve slept together more than once but controlled by desired, now we were enjoying each other’s company by pure choice. There is no where else I would like to be, well maybe a couple places but with him. A nocked on the door made us separate from each other, I was missing his touch instantly. Since when was I so needy?

“Hey beautiful, may I come in?” – I heard Carter said while opening the door.

“Not like you needed permission since you are already inside the room” – Luke replied to him. Oh man, so rude. I gave him a pleading look so he could be nice.

“Sure. Come on in. Thank you for stopping by” I said quickly to him.

“You are welcomed. You had me so worry, I stopped by a couple times, but your Alpha takes his job way too seriously” – Carter said. It melted my heart; Luke was next to me all this time. I gave Luke a quick look, he didn’t look pleased.

“It wouldn’t have made a difference, I was unconscious anyways, but I appreciate the concern. I’m deeply sorry about your uncle”.

“Thank you. This was not the way I was planning on taking over the pack, but we must do what needs to be done to keep the pack safe”.

“And I’m pretty sure you will”. – I said to him, trying to be comforting. Luke looked more upset.

“Well, I will see you when you get out of here. It seems like your Alpha still needs to talk to you”. – He winked at me while walking away, I know he was trying to provoke Luke and I didn’t like it but I couldn’t do anything about it right now, so I just nodded.

“He likes you” – Luke said without looking at me but at the door Carter closed behind him. “Do you like him?” – He added. He had a pained expression.

“He is just a friend” – I reassured him. For some reason I could feel his discomfort, this pregnancy has my hormones going crazy. I felt so different.

“It doesn’t seem like he is aware of that” – He replied to me. Jealous much? I liked it; I couldn’t help but to give him a quick smile.

The next two hours we spend getting check out of the pack hospital and me taking a must needed shower and getting some normal clothes. They had assigned a couple of rooms for us, but I was in Luke’s bedroom, but it doesn’t seem like he has slept in here. He probably spent all the time at the hospital with me. He went to grab some food because I was starving. I also found my bag of clothes next to the bed and went for some jeans with a shirt and braided my hair back. I felt like my normal self again.

I heard a nocked on the door and went to open it without looking as I was expecting Luke with my food. As I was about to open the door Mila yelled.

“Babe! Are you in there?”

I felt lightheaded, with everything going on I forgot that Luke had a girlfriend. I forgot about Mila. I decided to open the door. She didn’t look as surprise as I expected her to be.

“Why are you here?” – She asked me.

“What does it look like I was doing?” – I replied.

“Well, I’m just glad you are out of the hospital Ava. My boyfriend hasn’t rest properly since the attack so you can leave, and I will take care of him now”.

I didn’t like the sound of that. I wasn’t leaving her here. I kept looking at her and she said.

“Are you listening to me beta? Or do you need Luke to remind you of your position and mine?”

A low growl escaped my lips, my anger was rising. I couldn’t control what was happening to me.

“Get the f**k out of here” – I screamed at her, then I saw Luke with his eyes as big as pool balls with the tray of food in hand.
