Liam Mckullen had lived his life hidden since his demon bloodline made him different from shifters and vampires alike. Forced to move into more crowded spaces he makes effort to keep his kind secret from mankind. But as his eyes fall on a certain human, or so he thought, the word of the immortal shifters get out.

Hailey Adams is just human, at least that's what she knows. That is until she comes home one night to find out one of her roommates had made a deal with a shifter and it had gone dark. One man swears to protect her on one condition, that she must work for him. But as time moves on she realizes she's falling for him even though he keeps her at an arm's length. The woman is his mate, and Liam doesn't want the young lady to know. Budding attraction between them worsens as his kind take blows from the other shifters in the area. Can they make this work?

Chapter 1
"Mr. Alarkin," a man yelled, running towards the car. He heard his boss start the engine as he attempted to get closer. "We have an important matter to discuss. It's an emergency!" Clearly the urgency did not affect Alarkin as he peeled out of the driveway and drove off. The young warrior sat there, panting. He needed to tell him what was going on. Liam Mckullem sat back as he watched the mixture of vampires and shifters flock about. Keeping his head down, he kept moving to collect intel. His boss gave him the task of finding a place where they could settle peacefully. The shifters knew nothing of his kind : demon shifters. Demon shifters were nothing like the others. Most of them could take form of any shifter that they wanted, but at a cost. They had fangs that would protrude when they got angered or aroused, which gave them a bad wrap. But the worst thing that could happen was that if any of them were captures, not even a stake or silver to the heart would kill them. The immortal bloodline was strong in their veins, and a very well kept secret. Wolves gathered at a bar nearby and Liam couldn't help himself but to slip through the door. His eyes scanned the room as he forced himself to walk to the bar. Being the suspicious person was not ranked highly on his mind. “I heard the bloodsuckers are coming this way,” one of them growled. “Yeah, we need to keep them out of our territory. They do not belong here,” another said. Clearly they thought the demon shifters were vampires and Liam rolled his eyes. They were talking about ways to kill and the fact that they only come out a night. He let out a huff at the thought of being compared to them. Swishing his scotch drink slowly he found the rest of the banter useless. He had enough information to report back and it was important to do it in a timely fashion.
