First thing Liam did was soon as he could get rid of the woman was introduce her to his boss. Alarkin took to her right away making her as busy as possible as Liam snuck away. The woman could not possibly watch him train because he didn’t want her blabbing her mouth to any kind of shifters of what he could do. Plus without her scent around he was able to get into the exercises as he smacked hands with the other warriors and blew them away with the energy building between his fingertips. It felt good to let his demons magic flow out of him without the woman around.
“Ready?” One of the warriors asked and Liam yielded. They managed to clash shoulders as they both tried to gain ground on each other. Forcing his body into a shift, Liam felt weightless as the mans shape drifted through him. As soon as he was through he became tangible again as he whipped his weapon gaining a direct hit on the other warriors back, making him fall onto the ground.
“What was that?” The man yelled and Liam shrugged. He used whatever he could to his advantage as he lifted his fists back up into a defensive stance.
“ I kind of shifted,” Liam admitted as he parried a few more blows to the warriors abdomen. He could tell he was getting tired as the warriors movement was starting to slow.
After a few rounds, Liam could feel sweat beginning to drench down his back as his muscles protested to move much more. He didn’t even notice when Alarkin walked into the room.
“You know you’ve been in here for 12 hours,” he stated and Liam met his gaze. His demon stirred in the back of his mind. ‘I wonder how Hailey is doing,’ he quips about.
“Okay,” Liam says as he forces himself to stand and follow Alarkin out the door. The smell lurking from the kitchen made his gut stir with excitement as he took a peek in the kitchen.
Hailey was standing there with a smile plastered on her face as she listened to the female to her left. Looking past her, he aimed to make sure she didn’t see him sneaking peeks at her. Something about her made him feel things he didn’t think were possible as he shook his head. He’d have to figure this out eventually and the best way to do that was to meet up with a few people he knew were fatefully mated. Maybe they could shed some light on the situation.
“Liam, Liam!” he could finally hear Alarkin shout directly into his ears. Liam didn’t even notice his stupor until his superior looked at him with worry.
“I expect a full report from training on my desk by morning. One of the warriors are bragging about a new ability you have discovered,” Alarkin said before walking away from him. Shrugging off the thought Liam went straight to the canteen near the kitchen for a bite to eat. The woman that was starting to plague his mind was nowhere in sight as he was grateful for that as he dug in. “No more distractions,” he muttered to himself as he listened in to the people around him. Maybe he could climb into another assignment to keep himself busy. Liam knew he couldn’t go to Alarkin for a while as he knew he had nothing important for him to inspect for a while.
Just a few conversations were about wolf packs and their little turf wars over land. Others were about finding a mate and settling down making him feel very disturbed. Disappointed with himself he got up only to find someone smacking into him for behind. The little shriek and the baked goods the person held were now strewn all over the place.
Liam could already knew who it was by the smell and the stirring of his beast. To appease him he turned around to see Hailey look at him with a wild look in her eye. “I’m so sorry,” she nearly stumbled on as he focused on her mouth.
God, his demon was sending naughty images to his mind as he continued to frown at her. What about this female was so interesting?
Before he could say anything the young lady dabbed at his shirt as he lifted a brow. He didn’t notice the streaks of food on him till he looked back at shirt.
“I can clean it for you,” she says and he shakes his head. “Your thanks is enough,” Liam manages to grumble out. Rooting him to the spot, his demon refused to let him move. The veins were bulging on his forehead as he tried to keep him reeled in.
Hailey touches him and he could see the concern in her eyes. “Why are your eyes black?” she asks. Suddenly his body didn’t feel so stiff as she started to caress him. Liam thought something was seriously wrong with him as he shook his head. This woman was definitely not ready for him to reveal everything to her yet. But his demon was pestering him about a thought that she wasn’t human and he personally thought it was absurd. She hadn’t shown any phenomenal abilities that all shifters show by the age she is now. Then an idea sparked in his head. He could just investigate this woman’s past to see if his demons intuition was true and if it was he definitely needed to know more about this mate business. The situation was becoming more confusing as the demon spoke for him.
“I would like to get to know you,” he says and Liam could feel a smile reaching his face. His demon wasn’t backing off as they both stared into her blushing face. What was this woman thinking right now?
