The Demons Mistake

812 Words
After being told she was done for the day Hailey headed to the dining area to drop off some last minute snacks. A bunch of questions floated in her head as she overhead multiple conversations talking about shifter business so casually. It definitely felt awkward being the only human there. Fazed and confused, she turned around only to smack into a back of muscle. Slowly the male turned around and her heart thundered at the sight. It was Liam! Her ears didn’t register a thing until he spoke again. “I would like to get to know you,” he drawled, his eyes flashing back and forth. She could only imagine the conversation going on in his mind. Sure. I have some time now,” Hailey stated as the mans face broke out into a smile. The look suited him as she avoided looking into his eyes. “Deal,” he said suddenly, pulling her by the hand. Hailey followed him as fast as he was dragging her out the door to his car. His touch was shooting sparks down her spine. Staring up at him, his eyes were smoldering black with a grin. For some reason she wasn’t afraid, she was looking forward to whatever he had planned. -Liam- He could only stare as he lost the war with his beast as soon as she agreed. Smacking himself internally, his demon spoke. ‘I don’t plan on doing anything stupid. Just watch,’ his demon stated. Watching before his eyes, his demon had brought her to the Underground. It was a space that was famous for letting humans mingle with shifters. If he wasn’t careful his kinds secret would be out as he warned his demon to be careful. Hailey’s laughs brought warmth to his heart. His demon was showing her how to play beer pong. Her features lit up as soon as she finished a few drinks. The skin on her face was flushed red as his demon laid a kiss on her neck. Liam could feel his fangs elongate and forced his demon to stop. He had to stop this madness before things got worse. Giving himself a pinch, Liam let out a sigh as he was relieved that his beast relinquished control. Then he heard her voice talking to him excitedly. “ I was really just a student and promoter for an agency in college. My flat mate had some kind of relationship with a shifter,” Hailey said and shrugged. “Oh,” Liam said to himself. So this woman’s friend was responsible for the mess she got into. A part of him was sympathizing with her recalling all the times he’s been stabbed in the back. It was almost the same. Hailey shrugged her shoulders as she slugged down a shot. “The only thing I can do now is move forward,” she says and Liam finds himself nodding. This female was beginning to intrigue him as his demon chanted “I told you so.” The smirk on his face seemed to unnerve her as she switched the subject. “So you are a shifter too?” Slowly he nodded his head, taking in all the suspicious looks around him. The whispers all talked about him being new and the fact that they couldn’t scent him. He was going to be in trouble if he didn’t word this right. “I’m just a visiting Alpha,” Liam replied with a shrug. “ My wolf is pretty big.” Technically it wasn’t a lie, but he didn’t want others to know what he truly was. Before he could walk out with Hailey a hand clamped on his arm forcing him to turn. s**t. The alpha in town must have overheard him. He could feel his demon bristle in his mind. “I’m Alpha Torrid,” he states and smiles. “I didn’t hear anyone state that an alpha was passing through.” “My apologies. I’m supposed to take over my pack in Silver Moon soon,” Liam quickly lied, using his boss’s alliance’s pack name. “I’m here training with my uncle until I’m ready to return. I hope I didn’t disturb you.” The alpha then turned to Hailey with a smirk as he took her in. Liam could feel his body warm up and shake, becoming quite angry. What the hell is wrong demon? “Don’t worry. I won’t go peeking at your mate,” he says as he shows his hands. “ I would like to show you the pack house sometime. Maybe you can learn a thing or two.” Alpha Torrid then winks and a growl rips through my throat, scaring Hailey. “We’ll see,” Liam says pulling Hailey with him. He was definitely in deep trouble now, and Alarkin was the only one that could help fix this.
