Alphas & Mates

1003 Words
Alarkin was upset as Liam spilled everything from the night before in his office. Dealing with a neighboring Alpha was not the plan so soon. They needed to work on their numbers and multiply. “I will call Silver Moon Pack and vouch for you, but the rest is on your own. The Alpha is your problem,” Alarkin says as he reaches for the phone. Seeing Liam pale, he shooes him away. It was time to extinguish some flames. - The situation couldn’t get any worse as Liam received an unknown call in the hallway. He nearly dropped the phone as Alpha Torrid’s voice came through. “Training is at 6am sharp tomorrow. I expect to see you there young alpha,” he says and hangs up. ‘Great,’ his demon says and rolls his eyes. ‘Woof, woof.’ ‘Remember this is your fault,’Liam warns. Then an idea goes through his head. Maybe the man could help him with his dilemma. As far as he could at least remember all shifters acted similar for a reason. The word ‘mate’ stuck to the top of his head as he thought of Hailey. Liam knew he didn’t want to be stuck procreating as the need to protect his kind was stronger. Hopefully the wolves wouldn’t suspect him to be too different. Concealing his demons scent was number on priority. Outside Liam pulled his hood over his head as he reached a witches speciality shop. The young lady smiled up at him with a smile. Sensing his aura, she then looked around before waving him into the storage room. Then the woman crossed her arms and poked her finger into his chest. “What are you doing here demon?” she asked. “I need a wolf scent,” Liam said, looking at her. “I crossed paths with an Alpha yesterday and am required to be in attendance.” Snickering at him, the woman suddenly laughed. “You know how hard it is to contact your kind. Why should I sell you wolf essence?” she inquires. Before Liam could hold him back his demon decided to grab her throat. “Because I can end you without a silly bullet or spell. Don’t you know I’m immortal?” His demon speaks. “Immortal?” She stutters with shock. “Yes,” his demon purrs. “I can let you live longer or more powerful if I wanted. But I need that and your silence. Understood?” The woman ran back to the front as he heard her rummaging through her shop. He approached her only to have a perfume put in his hand. “Here’s my card,” she says smoothing back her hair. “You have my word. But I will require a favor.” Nodding at her, Liam walked out the door to pull his hood. He already knew the woman could summon him if needed. Now it was time to get ready to meet an alpha. The alarm beeped at five am sharp as Liam forced himself up from the bed. His demon was quick to complain to him. Holding back a grumble, he made his way downstairs for coffee. The woman were already up beginning to prepare things for the day. Fragrant smells of cinnamon, vanilla, and coffee grounds filled his nose. He also noticed subtle hints of roses and pine causing his member to stir. Oh god, his body was betraying him. Before he could sneak away with his coffee Hailey tapped him on the shoulder. “You’re up early,” she states and he forced a smile. The scent was coming from her as his demon paced his mind. “I’ll be back later,” Liam says and winks. Then he links his demon. ‘We have an alpha to deal with.’ Seeing his silence as an agreement he trudged into pack territory. Waiting outside the pack house, Liam shoved his hands into his pockets. Ways of how to act kept dancing in his mind. Then Alpha Torrid showed up as he forced a smile. “Twenty minutes early. That’s dedication,” he says, giving Liam a slap in the back. “Well i have a few questions,” Liam asks honestly as the subject of mates climb his mind. “Sure. Sure,” the alpha repeats, forcing him to walk beside him. “What’s on your mind?” “My wolf has been acting up recently. Usually we can agree but whenever we see a certain someone he pushes me back. I mean, I haven’t done anything to the person but now I smell them and it’s intoxicating. Sometimes I can’t think,” he states and the alpha roars with laughter. “You’ve found your soulmate,” Torrid says. “Our beast can recognize our mate as soon as we see them.” Then the alpha gives him a stern gaze. “The human from yesterday?” Giving the man a brief nod, the alpha sighs. “It’s not uncommon, but I’d get closer to the woman. She will learn to accept you.” Interrupted by his second in command, Torrid gives a faint smile. “Ready to train?” After a grueling ten mile run, three hours of constant combat, and working out Liam pretended to be tired. He could clearly tell that the others were tuckered out and he didn’t want to impress anyone. “So about mates,” torrid states, walking up to him. “Since you told the human what you are you know she can’t go back, right? It is against our code, so you know. It’d be my honor to hold a mating ceremony whenever you see fit.” In the back of his mind, Liam was panicking. He didn’t want to do such things to Hailey, especially with his demon egging him on to find out what she is. “I’ll think about it,” Liam states, walking away. Things were definitely going to get difficult.
