Hailey clutched her sheets as she shivered in her sleep. Nightmares that were actually suppressed memories flooded her mind.
“Take her, take her,” the woman ordered at the male who kept shaking his head. “She’s not one of ours,” he states. “A hybrid is not allowed. You either take the child and run. Or give her to the humans.”
Young Hailey cried as the woman took her, grief evident in her eyes. “You said I was your mate and give you a heir. This is how you treat me,” she says, her voice full of malice. “Fine, I reject you and your clan.”
Seeing the man clutch his chest, he doubled over falling to the ground. “You can’t do this,” he says. “I can and I will,” the woman says, dragging Hailey away.
Waking up in a cold sweat, Hailey flew out of the bed trembling. Her eyes looked to the clock reading three am. There was no way she was going back to bed.
She felt like she was hallucinating as she grabbed the door, staring at a talon. Letting out a shriek, she fell backwards into her butt. Part of her hurt thinking about how everyone kept their secrets and what not to themselves.Liam could help.

“Wake up,” Liam’s demon yelled at him. Forcing his eyes open, he heard a screech as well as a door opening. Half of the other warriors were peeking as well. No one looked to be in the hallway. ‘Investigate.’
To appease his demon, he walked down the hall down to Hailey’s room to see she had fallen over. His demon was roaring with laughter as he forced himself to remain frowning.
“Are you okay?” he asks and she blushes looking up at him. “Yes,” Hailey states then eyes the door. “And no.”
Her words stirred his curiosity as he c****d an eyebrow and extended his hand. Feeling her petite warm hand grab his he smiled. “Do you want to talk about it?” Liam says as she nods. Pulling her to a stand, he guides her down to his room. The other warriors waggled their eyebrows at him. They were definitely going to tease him in their next sparring session.
Hailey started speaking as soon as he shut his door. “I’ve been having more nightmares and they seem so real,” she states, clearly upset.
‘Ask if we can enter her mind,’ his demon asks. Agreeing with his demon he steps forward to close the space between them. He could feel his demon getting excited at the pounding of her heart.
“I want you to close your eyes,” Liam says, reaching behind her head, cradling her. “Think about your problems for a minute.” Sensing her discomfort, he rubs his fingers in a circular motion getting her to relax in his arms. Suddenly images gathered into his head and he could at least dispel one rumor. Hailey wasn’t completely human. What is she?
The woman suddenly sagged in his grip, unconscious. Liam blinked at her, wondering if it was too much. ‘Yes it was,’ his demon says. ‘But now I have questions.’ So did he, but the young lady wouldn’t be able to answer it herself.
Laying Hailey down and walking away was hard on him as he turned away. His body began to tingle and his demon nodded. The witch was summoning him now.
“I hope you slept well,” the woman says, thrusting a bag into his hands. “I need you to fulfill your promise. There’s a few things I need, a syringe of dragon’s blood, some demon powders, and some of your blood as well.”
Before he could answer the woman jabbed him with a needle. “What for?” He asks, holding his arm protectively.
“It’s for my protection,” she proudly states. “Besides your kind, dragons are second to rival yours.” Dragons?
“There’s none in the states,” Liam says, remembering his past experiences. They were all scattered about the UK and Scotland.
The woman tsks at him shaking her head. “You forget there is a veil protecting clans across the Great Lakes. The Iris clan is across the border in Canada,” she says, making a gesture.
Feeling the wind made Liam stagger back until he realized he was back in his room. Looking down, Hailey was peacefully sleeping . Confusion clouded his mind until his demon spoke. ‘Witches work in mysterious ways.’
Shaking away the uncomfortable thoughts, his eyes drifted to Hailey. It’d be best to leave her alone as he contemplated finishing the woman’s list tonight. Teleporting was clearly going to drain him, but he could only thing of one dragon clan to help him. The Malachian’s in Scotland were allies. Surely the clan leader could help him out.
Giving Alan Malach a ring, the man picked up.
“Who’s this?” He asked. “This is Liam McKullen, one of Alarkins,” Liam states and the dragons voice becomes cheery. “It’s been so long! When are you visiting?” He asks. “Now,” Liam says, concentrating on the location of the mans IP, only to materialize in front of him.
“You know I never get tired of that trick,” Alan says and laughs. Liam nods as well, only to be overwhelmed by a rush of dizziness forcing him to fall into a nearby chair.
“I need a favor,” Liam starts as the dragon man stared at him adamantly. “I’m going to need a vial of dragon blood to keep a witch quiet.”
“Sure.Sure,” Alan repeats. “But I don’t think you’ll be going anywhere.”
Liam already knew that as his body starts to clamp up and lose its color. “I know,” he says, almost to himself as black dots fill his vision. The ability to teleport had taken a lot out of him as Alan held his hand.
“Get a healer and an IV drip ready,” Alan barks, tilting Liam’s face upward. He was nearly unconscious as he stared into the dragon’s face. “Hold on.”
