Confusing Times

ignoring the pounding in her head, Hailey groaned as she forced herself upwards in the bed. The room clearly looked different as her mind flickered back events from the early morning. Where did Liam go? Walking towards the door she could see some curious men peeking in on her as she peered up at one. She merely mouthed 'What happened?' "I guess Liam helped you with your nightmares. You know, he's the type to keep to himself and train all the time," the man stated as a lazy smile stretched across his face. Before she could speak a word, he had already begun to walk away. "But I do have to say, you are an interesting human. You have this aura around you." Following the man, Hailey started to go after him until he seemed to vanish into thin air. She immediately pursed her lips as frustration set in. Why do shifters speak in riddles? Feeling defeated, Hailey went straight downstairs to start her tasks for the day. Based odd the light pouring in she was definitely late. Hopefully Alarkin won't be too mad at her. - Slamming down the files on his desk, Alarkin let out a yell as he made the whole desk shake. Hearing subtle movement from outside his door, he used his senses to see that his assistant was finally in. 'That's good news isn't it?' his demon interludes his thoughts with, making him roll his eyes. 'Shut up,' Alarkin barked, only to be left with laughter. "I'm sorry I'm late," Hailey stated and he raised his hand. His warriors had already informed him of what Liam did earlier. "It's fine. We all have bad days," Alarkin said. "Just means that you'll make up for it." Pushing a stack of tax files toward her she began to nod. The young lady came forward and walked away with them. Looking at the computer one last time, Alarkin sighed at the email he received from the dragon clans. Alan was looking after his best warrior since he depleted his powers to get answers. 'i***t,' his demon mused and he agreed. McKesson was never one to rush into things and now problems were springing up all over the place. Ever since he brought the woman back. The only thing that made sense now was to wait for him to recover. His demon had an idea, but he shut it down quickly. Wouldn't his best friend, his warrior, tell him if she was his mate? If that's the case, he was definitely going to kick his butt and stick him as a combat instructor ONLY, no matter the cost. The council was already on them about their low numbers. But it seemed like he had nearly forgot about Hailey in the room as she held both her hands tightly in a white lipped grip. "I'm sorry," Alarkin stated as he moved some files about. "Liam is not here and I do not have much of tasks for you at the moment. But I do need to collect some history on you and make sure you have a safe background. I'm sure you'll understand." Hailey could only nod as she swiftly moved out of the room. She would go get breakfast and wait until this man or Liam came to get her. There was this weird feeling that they knew more than she did about herself. Later on a nurse came by and Hailey looked up at her. The amount of paperwork and empty vials meant for her hand were full of unused needles. "Sorry for coming by so late," the woman said, setting everything down on Hailey's bed before touching her arm. "May I? With a nod, the woman started tapping away for a vein and she had to close her eyes. She was fine with the feeling of it, but hated watching the blood leave her body. Then a comment made her eyes open. "Your bloods got a bit of a spark doesn't it?" Her gaze went straight to her arm and she saw the ruby like color and some rather cool sparks collecting along the arm. "Here, hold this." Holding the gauze against her arm, the woman began to speak again. "I'm hundred percent positively sure that you are not 100% human. Either a dragon or demon shifter. But we'll find out soon enough." Lifting the vial of shiny blood the woman gave a smile. "You'll fit in just fine."
