Rose hate for Alex and Alice

At the eatery Alex ordered fried rice and chicken for Rose, since he already knew her favorite, and ordered Jellof rice for himself. They both sat down to eat quietly with Alex breaking the silence hovering around them like a cloak as they sat at the table to eat.

“You are my friend” He said, “if there is anything bothering you, please let me know, or did I offend you in any way.”

He asked.

“Yes you did” Rose replied, you did not only offend me, but you broke my heart into tiny pieces. You made me a laughing stock by going out with my sister, knowing fully well I am in love with you.”

Alex fork fell from his hand at hearing what she said.

“Did you say going out with your sister!” He asked, being surprised at what she said.

“Yes Alex! my sister.”

“How do you mean” Alex asked with a surprise tone.

“The girl you sat with during my birthday celebration, his my sister, and as a matter of fact a friend told me both of you are dating. ”

Alex rubbed his hand over his face, while trying to recall the event that took place over a week ago. “Did you mean Alice?” he asked.

“Yes Alice! She is my elder sister.”

Alex was shocked at her reply.

“ How could I have known she is your sister, you have never introduced her to me, neither have I ever seen her with you,” He said with a little quilt in his tone.

“I had wanted to introduce her to you, the night of my birthday, only for me to find out you were seeing her beside my back.”

Rose replied angrily, making other customers at the eatery to turn their attention towards the direction they sat.

“Calm down! Please, did you just say at your back? You talk about me breaking your heart, what was that statement all about, are you in love with me Rose?”

Alex asked, sarcastically staring at her in the eyes.

Rose covered her head in shame, while placing her hands over her head, and for a moment she didn’t belief she said all the things she said, yes! She was angry, but she would have controlled her self, she thought. She regretted the things she said, and she regretted more about letting Alex know the way she felt about him.

Rose had wanted to meet Alex, and told him how she felt about him, but she never knew she will end up loosing the man she had ever loved. She was hurt, more hurt by his words, that he wasn’t in love with her, she had loved Alex the first day she set her eyes on him at the admission office, and was hoping he will love her back same way, but little did she know, that in his eyes she was just a friend.

“Ah! Alice,” she said to herself, you are such a fool!”

Never in her life had she felt such embarrassment, she cried all night, and woke up with a swollen eyes. In her pain she swore to have her revenge on Alex and Alice.

Rose started thinking of all the things she will do to them in her head, she watched them, cling towards each other in school, with Alice taking the front sit of his car, as they drove around campus like love birds, while she bow her head low in shame. Alex was now more regular in school, she learnt he employed a capable hand to take care of his business, while she was thrown like a coin to the floor, with their friendship thrown into thin air.

After a few days Alice decided to visit her sister Rose in her hostel, Alex had told her everything that transpired between them, and she was sorry over what happened, she knew her sister was angry with her, but what happened was not her fault she had thought.

On meeting with her sister, she watched her stares at her with so much hate, and she wondered if her sister now hates her for something she was innocent of.

Rose stares at Alice on seeing her, and all she could see was a pretentious face. “I hate you” she said to herself, she saw her sister as a pretender and someone who always plays the innocent card, someone people looked at as a saint, she was never wrong in anyone eyes, before the whole incident she had never liked her, her parents always see’s her as inferior to her, Alice was the loved child why she was always seen and treated like an outsider.

Alice walked close to her and tried to hold her but Rose walked passed her into her apartment, with Alice walking behind her.

Alice was a very beautiful young lady, she was admired by all who see’s her, she was tall and comely.

“I never knew”

Alice said, as she enters her room and sat on the bed beside Rose.

“ I never knew Alex was your friend, the day I met him, he told me he was single and that he had no girlfriend, and I had believed him, but even at that he told me you were just his friend, and he never knew you had feelings for him, and not withstanding even though I might decide to leave him considering how you felt about him, he might never love you in return, you are my kid sister, and I will never do anything to hurt you, please forget about Alex and concentrate on your studies, you are only but in your first semester year one, entangling your self with a man at this time of your educational level is not going to do you any good.”

Rose watched as her sister say all the things she said, and the part she said Alex refers to her as just a friend hurts her more. She might just be eighteen but what she felt for Alex was real, more real than she could ever thought or imagined.

She decided to fake up a pretentious smile and hug her sister.

“it is okay”

she said, “am sorry big sister, am sorry for being foolish, I should be facing my studies as you said.”

Alice had always known her sister Rose to act and behave in a way above her age, they were not best of sisters, growing up, although she was two years older than her, but Rose always act towards her in ways people wondered if she was actually the eldest. But Alice wasn’t always bothered she was the quiet type while Rose on the other hand was loud.

A week after her confrontation with Alex, Rose decided to meet with him again, and to talk to him about what she said to him the previous week and also to apologized to him concerning her behavior of allowing her emotions say what she shouldn’t have said to him, and also to give her blessing concerning him going out with her sister.

After meeting with Alex, he was so excited about her coming to meet him and also realizing herself, Alex thanked her for her understanding, but little did he knew she was faking everything. Rose only acted being cool with the idea of Alex going out with her elder sister, but deep down her heart, was a pot boiling with hate.

Rose watched as Alex married her sister Alice after her graduation, she was Alice maid of honour, and that day was the worst day of her life, watching the man she loves got married to another woman.

After there marriage Rose went to a witch doctor with Alice picture, and asked him to tie Alice womb so that she will not be able to have a child. Her plan was to make Alex throw her out his house, but to her dismay, Alex continue loving Alice and believing God for a child, Rose made sure she renew her sacrifice to the witch doctor every month so that Alice will never get pregnant

But after several years of childlessness, Rose was shocked when Alice told her she was pregnant, she doubted her, because she knew with all the sacrifices she has been doing for her not to get pregnant, there was no way she could have gotten pregnant.

When Rose find out Alice was pregnant, she was shocked about the possibility of Alice being pregnant, so she decided to rush to the witch doctor to inform him of the news, the witch doctor was shocked at what she said, and told her he didn’t believe her that it was not possible for Alice to be pregnant, he even brought out the charm he did. A little doll which had a red robe tied around its womb.

“You must have done something wrong,”

The witch doctor told Rose.

“No Baba I didn’t , I did everything you told me religiously, and I didn’t fail at any part.” Rose replied.

“Then you must prepare another charm,” said the Witch Doctor.

“This time, you must use every means possible to sleep with her husband, then after sleeping with him, bring out the sperm he poured into you, and come with it to the shrine, for another sacrifice. After that, the moment he makes love to his wife, she will have a miscarriage and loose the baby. Now leave, and do what I told you, leave,” the witch doctor ordered.
