Philip's POV
I woke up to water rushing on my face. How did I end up sleeping in the bathroom? I know I didn't get drunk because I don't drink. I opened my eyes and quickly got out of bed. Wait...bed? I looked around and saw my bed was under the shower head and some girl was standing beside the control buttons.
"Who the hell are you? And how did you get in here?" I asked, very alarmed at the intruder. I was pretty sure I had no sleepover with a girl, much less one in leather suit.
"Good, you're awake. The Mayor's waiting downstairs," the girl said in a bored time and left the bathroom. Soon after, I heard my room door close. What the hell? Who did she think she was barging into my room like that?!
I looked at the bed under the shower and just realized it was still running.
"Oh damn!!" I groaned and quickly turned it off. How the hell did she even get the bed in here?! What the hell is she? Suddenly, the bed moved back to its position in my room and tiny discs came out from under the bed, transformed into bugs and hovered in front of the door.
I wondered what they were and whether they were trying to leave. I slowly made my way to the door and opened it. They flew out and went down the stairs. Huh?! Could they be electronic gadgets from the leather girl? I shrugged it off and quickly got dressed for school.
I got downstairs dressed in black jeans, black jacket and white polo shirt, hanging my bag on one shoulder.
"What are you? A girl? Why would you take so long to get dressed?" I heard the minute I got downstairs. The hell? I thought she was gone!
"What are you still doing here? And where's my dad?" I asked frowning at her. She shrugged, lying on the sofa like she owned the place and pointed in the direction of the dining room. I looked in the direction and saw sad on a call. I sighed and walked towards the sofa. I stopped beside her and noticed a familiar cookie packet in her hands.
I quickly snatched it from her and slapped her outstretched hand which was about to take another cookie.
"What the hell dude?! Why would you do that? Where are your manners?" She exclaimed frowning at me, her green eyes sparkling which was weird. Who the hell had bright green eyes?
"My manners? You barged into my room and rudely woke me up and now you're eating my treats?!" I asked, getting angry fast. Just who was she?!
"Seriously, I didn't barge into your room. I was told to go in and wake you up. Who knew you slept like a log? And about your treats, don't you know the concept of sharing?" She explained, lying back down on the couch.
"Why would a nobody be sent to my room?" I asked curiously, eyeing her.
"She's not a nobody, she's your new bodyguard," my dad said, coming towards us.
"Dad! For the umpteenth time, I don't need a freaking bodyguard!" I yelled, feeling my blood boil. Why the hell would I need someone following me 24/7 and reporting all my deeds to my dad? And of all people, a girl? She's even gonna be a lot clingy than normal!
"You don't have a say in this, Philip. Your life is in danger and you know it. You may try to ignore it but it doesn't hide the fact that they're gonna keep coming for you. If I were you, I would be grateful for such opportunity to finally learn how to fight," my dad stated, settling in a sofa.
"I know how to fight dad," I muttered, feeling embarrassed.
"Not that YouTube crap. Anyway, Miss Ella Nyx will be your bodyguard from now on. Treat her nice," my dad concluded. Wait, Nyx? Like Queen of the Night aka The Bride? My guess is, she's from that freaking agency that dad talks to.
"But dad-" I started.
"No buts Philip. Get ready for school. I'm leaving for the office soon," Dad said, getting up. He walked towards Miss Crazy who was on her feet. When did she get up?
"Miss Ella, thank you for doing this. I know it's quite below your job description, so just think of it as a vacation. Mi casa su casa( my house is your house). Feel free to use any of our services," my dad said shaking her hand to which she just smiled politely.
"I think we should get going now," she said and bowed before walking towards the door.
"Do you even know where you're going?" I asked her with brows raised.
"I'm a freaking agent Cookie," she said smirking and then walked out. Dad just patted my shoulder.
"Dont forget, no one must know about you having a bodyguard," dad reminded before heading upstairs. I sighed and followed after her.
The moment I stepped into the garage door, I saw Crazy on my favourite bike driving out. I don't even take the bike out that much! This girl just keeps getting on my nerves. I glared at her receding form as I got into my car ready to race that crazy clown. Yeah, I'm into fast cars 'cause I'm a racer. I recently went to one after my accident and I have another coming up.
I followed after her and was right beside her in seconds.
"Get off my bike, Crazy Clown!" I yelled winding down my side window. Instead, she looked my direction and increased her speed leaving me to ear her dust. Last I checked, my bike didn't go that fast. What did she do to it?
I stepped on the gas, but no matthler how fast I went I still couldn't reach her. As we got clservto school, she diverted to the car wash beside the school. What was she planning, to cool it down or something?
I wasn't crazy enough to find out so I drove to school and parked in my usual spot. Seconds later, my trusted friend pulled up beside me. I smiled as I got out of my car.
"Sup dude, you were damn fast today. Were you chasing someone or something?" Dave asked after we bro-hugged.
"Nah, just felt like warming up the car. Still can't decide which to use in the upcoming race. You know this one is an inter-city competition," I replied. I wasn't planning to tell him I got a bodyguard and it wasn't because of what my dad said. He was my best friend, he knew everything about me. It was rather because he would make fun of me for all eternity 'cause I confidently told him that I wouldn't get one.
"I'm sure whichever you use won't be a problem. You're the lucky charm," he replied smiling as we headed into the school building. Some weirdo in sweater bumped into us on our way in, like right in-between us but mixed up with the crowd before we could figure out who. She had a familiar scent though.
Ella's POV
After parking the bike and making it invisible, I headed into the school building in my new wear which was particularly to not draw attention: a simple hoodied sweater with black top and vlblue jeans. I had my contacts in. I wore it after coming out of the Mayor's house. My mind must have been occupied with the mission that I forgot to wear it before leaving the base.
I saw Philip walking with his best friend David. Suddenly, I felt chills just by looking at him. I had this talent of spotting the odd in the midst of the even. I knew there was more to him that the paper said and the paper was very thorough even down to his favorite food.
I walked towards them and passed through their midst to get a better reading of David but all I smelled was wet ground after a rain. Did he live in the woods? I immediately mixed up with the crowd before they would sppt me and in the process, found my wat to the receptionist's office for my schedule and locker key.
Looking at the crowd after finding my locker, I could immediately tell the class of students they were: Rich kids which equaled spoilt brats which equaled problem if you got in their line of vision. I've never attended high school before but I know a little bit of everything about it through movies.
"Hey, did you see the news? It's all over social media. 'The Veiled Bride struck again'. This time she took down the leader of the Northern gang who was allegedly a partner of the deadly Death Angels," a female student said as she picked stuff from her locker few lockers down from mine.
"Yeah, I most definitely did. It's like she's a superhero taking down all those bad guys that threaten our safety. I heard he kidn*pped and trafficked young girls and was into weapon trafficking too. I'm pretty sure drugs were right in the middle," her friend replied, resting beside her locker.
"Yeah, my dad's brother used to work for him and they did nasty things. Good thing he's dead so my uncle will be free from him," the girl concurred.
"Your uncle got mixed up with the druglord? Like Uncle Buck? How?" He friend asked. The girl paused like she had said too much and shrugged.
"Let's head to class before the warning bells ring. I wanna sit at the front today. I heard the pretty teacher is now out permanent Art teacher," she quickly changed the subject and they headed to class.
I can't deny. I felt food when I heard their praises. Hearing things like this made me feel like I was actually doing some good in the world and not just killing people.
"Veiled Bride?" Someone scoffed,"Makes me feel like there are no more men to take charge. I wonder if she works for the government or is just a private wannabe superhero. She should just leave the men's job to the men and sit pretty," one guy said to his friends laughed, as they walked by me.
"Low brains," I muttered and walked away. Seconds later though, he tripped and landed face first. I smirked and spread my palm and my little fairies returned to me and I clipped them back on my bracelet.
