Chapter 28 - Where Freedom Exist

1145 Words
From the start, it wasn’t what we want. We just wanted someone that would give us lead towards the Power of Glamour. But the thing is, we do not even know if that power still exist until now, or maybe it withered, too, together with the last one who owned it. I’m hoping not for the latter. In the end, we came face-to-face to the woman Rosie talked about. The first thing I’ve noticed was her brown wrinkled skin. She has a cane that guided her in the vast, her long black mixed with grey hair was styled in a lazy bits, her back was slightly curved because of old-age, and this woman live by all herself somewhere in the middle of the high mountain. She was alone but she have chosen to live away from the main city. The old woman withdraw herself from the crowd and perhaps doing that would make them feel at ease. Away from everything. After all, we all desire for silent and peaceful environment. “What is the Acresians doing here, your Highness?” Her full attention was only attended to Rosie. She looked at us once when we approached her, and by that, I knew she recognized us all and I just confirmed it now. After her one glances at each of us, she let us enter her home abode. It was a tiny house good for her, a fireplace not far from us, so I could really feel the warmth inside this four walls. From my position, I can see her bed and across it was the table — where we all settled — and after, was her small kitchen. I wonder what was people’s reason why they’ve choose to live far from everyone. Aside from peace and silence, there could be any reasons. Sighing, I poke myself from thinking too much. Due to it, I barely put my thoughts to my main goal. Rani Letisha, you should really focus to your goal and not to anything else. I’m here for that, not to be curious as to why older people choose to live all by theirselves now that they aged. “We’re here to ask a few things about the Achlys,” I answered her politely. “Rosie told us that you might know something about them. And I would like to ask, especially the late queen of the Achlys.” “Were you here because of the Power of Glamour?” I froze. We all froze. Blinking my eyes, I tried to not show my bewilderedness. Is this woman has the ability to read mind? Well, if so... Then, she probably know what we really came here for and yes, she does know. “Yes,” I confirmed without hesitation. “I was told that the late queen was the last person who has the Power of Illusion, and I need a lead.” She stared at me for a second. Her gloomy eyes pierced right through me and I felt like it was digging deep into my soul. It was dark, deep like the ocean, and just nothing. Gulping, I averted my gaze from her eyes to the dots on her face just to escape from her sharp kins. “You are the leader of the Faye region, am I right?” she query. Again, I nodded. “Then, you should know the answer to your question already. Among us here, you are the ones who mostly have the power to know the secrets of our world.” With that, my attention went to her. My forehead knotted. “What are you talking about?” “You are the leader of the strongest region among your kingdom, and your realm is the most feared place among Godlic. Between us here, you are the one who has the power to unravel the truth behind lies.” Shaking my head, I stood up from the stool. I think this woman was not in the right mind. How can we seek help from someone who spouts nonsense? “I think we need to go,” I gathered myself. I felt the little Fairies poke me from the inside of my pockets but I never bothered to give them my attention. Like what the f uck was this old man talked about? I knew I’m the Rani Letisha. But I also know my limits. I ain’t that powerful, I admit. M power is only limited and me — having the ability to know the deep secrets of cities here in Godlic — was just too impossible. The last time I checked, it was the Sylphs who holds that record. Not me. Not the Faye region. The leader of the Sylphs, Alistair, was the one who kept that record. There were a lot of secrets and only the air catches it. Ever breath, every word of the ones who has secrets, it forms in the air and Alistair has the control over it. The air and cloud was his place. “Rani Letisha...” Terran and Deniz stood up to stop me but I never budge. “How can we believe someone who’s not in the right mind, huh?” Without thinking, I said those. “Let’s go, Terran and Deniz. We don’t want to waste our time to nonsense, do you?” My eyes went to the woman. Rosie, on the other hand, stayed silent. I guess we can’t get anything from the Chalice. Even just a piece of information, they surely don’t have it. We were just wasting our time here. Only if we have unlimited one, I would definitely stay and listen to the woman’s story just to entertain ourselves. But no... Maybe for some time, I would. For now, I have to think of my purpose. I need to find a lead towards the Power of Glamour. I need to get the power secure my rank. One last glance, I turned my back from them and was about to make my exit when the old woman talked again. “The Power of Glamour,” she paused. “The owner of the Power of Glamour was an old person, Rani Letisha. I don’t know if it’s a woman or a man, and that’s all I say.” With that, my head snapped in her direction. Staring deep into her eyes, I can see the sincerity on it. Then, if it was true... “Where can we find that person?” She open her mouth to talk, but closes it again. We waited and waited until she began to talk. “In a place where there is freedom...” she replied.
