A mate for my soul

My name is Jacquelynn Baker, but my friends call me Jackie. Well the few friends I do have. I am a 5’6 and have brown hair and brown eyes. It my option I am average. Not the prettiest girl. I am starting my new job today and I am so excited. I have been trying so hard to get this job. I am Final got my dream job as a traveling photographer. I walk in the the big brown 3 story building with a new energy of excitement I haven’t felt for a long time. At since a got excepted in to the college for my photography on a scholarship. It was just the state colleg but I didn’t have money since my parents died leaving me to grow up in the system. As I walk in I walk up to the receptionist desk and the blonde petite lady with really beautiful green eyes said “Hi, Can I help you?” “ Hi, I am Jacquelynn Baker here to for my first day.” I said with a smile on my face “ Oh yes. I am Maggie. I have your packet right here for you. It has your badge in it. Put that on then report to the second floor to Mr. McCambridge’s office.” She said handed me a manila envelope with my name on it. I open it and pull out my badge with my picture on it then head to the elevator behind her desk and wait for it to arrive. When the door open a very gorgeous man walk out with dark brown shot hair, brown eyes, almost the color of rich chocolate. I have to say he is about 6 ft and built like a football player. He look up from his phone and looks at me and he smile is so handsome. “Hi” he said and begins to walk out and I am standing there like and a statute. As he was past and someone else walking in front of my I snap out of it “ H-hi” I stammer and then begin walking in to the elevator. I watch him as the doors start to close and he is still looking at me with a smile. Once the doors close I breathe. I hadn’t realized I wasn’t breathing until the doors close. The elevator started moving up once the floor opened up I walked out to see a receptionist. I walked up “ Hi, Where can I find Mr. McCambridge’s office?” I said and the slender man with glasses. He had dirty blonde hair and blue eyes looked up “ Hi, you must be Jacquelynn Baker! I am Daniel. I will take you there.” He stood up came from behind the desk and then started walking to his right. I notice he had black slacks and a button up blue shirt that fit him. We walk thought the door into an open space with cubicles down the middle. We walk along the right side as we past I seen some of the space had people other didn’t but had personal item. It was probably the people that worked in the field. I looked back in front of me just in time to see him stop in front of the last door off to the right side of the right room. He knocked and then waited. The you hear a deep man’s voice said come in. He open the door and Daniel said “ Miss baker is here to see you, Mr. McCambridge” he was seat at an red oak desk that was facing the left side of the room where there was a couch and two end table. “Ah, yes please come in” he said. “Please have a seat. Thank you Daniel” he finished saying then looked up from his computer. He stood then started to walk around his desk and said “Hi Miss Baker it is a pleasure to finally meet you!” He put out his hand. I reach up to shake and smiled. “Hi, nice to meet you to.” I said “Alright, did you get your packet?” He asked “ Yes, I did.” I said “Good, good. Alright in that packet is the employee handbook and you also find your first assignment. Make sure you read it. I will take you on a tour and show you where your desk is. Most are normally out on assignment so you we’ll need to come in when you have completed your assignment to turn in your work and fill out the paperwork” he stated then started walking towards the door. I followed. We walked down the left side of the main room. “ Here is the copy room” he pointed to the first room. No one was in there but is was fill with five machines and a cabinet of to the corner. “ Here is the break room” he pointed to the second room there was a table and a couch on one end of the room on the other there was a little kitchen area. “ While in the office you get two 15 min breaks and a 30 min lunch” he said and kept walk until we reached an empty desk “ this is your desk” then he look into the desk next to my and said “ Hey Miss Dunn can you help Miss Baker get set up” A red head girl popped up and said “ Sure thing Mr. McCambridge.” Then turn to me and said “ Hi, I am Chloe Dunn” she reach to shake and I took her hand. “ You can call me Chloe.” She smiled and I saw her beautiful bluish green eyes. “ Hi I am Jacquelynn Backer. You can call me Jackie” I smiled at her. Mr McCambridge walked back to his office. I didn’t even notice until I started to set me stuff down. When I sat down at my desk Chloe then show me what I need to do. For the rest of the day I got to know Chloe and we were fast becoming friends. She show me how to upload and log my reports and how to summit my receipt for my travel. Then she opened the cabinet off to the side and showed me the camera. I had to say I geeked out on it. It was a Cannon EOS R5. Not the lastest be still a great camera. It had and bag with all the lenses you would every need. “ Omg it is so beautiful” I smile and Chloe just giggled. I took it out and looked at it. I can tell it was used but it was beautiful. While I was admiring it Chloe said something. “ Sorry, what did you say?” I said looking up to her and she laughed the said “ I was asking if you looked at your first assignment.” Oh yea I forgot about that. “ Um, no I haven’t” i go to the packet that is sitting on my desk and begin pulling out the stuff. Then employee handbook the a file. I look at the file to see it say I need to go take pictures of a event in town. It is an opening of a new children’s hospital. I was hired as a photographer but my specialty is nature. Only problem was all those posts were full. That is okay I am just going to work myself into the spot. The company is a photography company for anything and everything that people what pictures for. From advertising to news and even magazines. Sometimes even family photos. My first assignment wasn’t until tomorrow and it was around the corner from where I live. Next morning I got up and got ready to head over to the event celebrating the new children’s hospital. I am not much of a morning person, but you got to what needs to be done right. I got dress in jean and a nice blue blouse with of the shoulder sleeves that have a little bit of a wave to it. I washed my face and brushed my teeth then went to the get and got my stuff to make my smoothie. I decided on a triple berry. After making my smoothie. I got my badge and key. The heading to the door and grabbed my work camera and bag. I locked my door then headed to the event. I parked once I got the and looked for a great spot to take pictures. Once I pick the perfect spot I got my equipment out and set up it up. Once that was done I snapped a few photos and then waited for the main event to start. People started coming in and sitting in the rows of chairs that were sat in front of a stage. And behind the stage there is normally a backing but they didn’t put it up because they used the new hospital for it. The hospital was large it look to be at least 10 stories and was rounded rather then the normal square shape most buildings take after. It was a rainbow of different color but still morden looking. It make the place seam bright a cheery. I guest that is a good thing since it is a children’s hospital. Once all the child where filled with everyone a speaker walked one the stage I started snapping photos. Of the older man looked to be in his 40 maybe 50 and he had chocolate skin and short black hair. He look like a doctor. Turns out he was is was the new director for the hospital. “ Welcome lady’s and gentlemen. I would like to welcome to the new children’s hospital of Ryeville” he said “ we will cut the ribbon then head inside for a tour before come out here to enjoy the festivities that have been set up in honor of the grand opening” a lady brought him a pair of scissors and he cut the ribbon. I continued snapping photos. Everyone clapped after the ribbon was cut. “ Let us all head inside.” He said then began to lead everyone in. As we walk through the hospital I took pictures of everything. Cause you never know for sure what the best ones are until you see it on the computer screen. Once we were done we went back outside and I took a bunch of photos of the festival and then when I felt I took enough I headed back to the office to start going though everything and find the best ones I would choose for the report. That I needed to have in by the end of the day today. This is my chance to so them what I am made of. After finishing my assignment, which I am feeling pretty good about I notice it is 5 pm. So I hit submit and then shut down. I gather my stuff and head out. On my way out I walk to the elevator and I run in to the guy from the other day . He came up right next to me and pushed the button as I pushed it and our hand touched and I feel the sparks and I gasped. I instantly pull my hand away. I have no clue what that was I look at him he was looked down with his eyes closed. I don’t understand. Then the bell rings for the elevator and I walk in and he is still standing there. “Are you coming” I ask. he runs back the other way and the doors closed. Strange why is he acting so weird oh well. I hit the button for the first floor the head out the building to begin walking home since I live around the corner from here. As I walk in the direction of home I feel eyes on me and I turn and look at the building and it seem as if someone is watching me from the second floor. But I don’t see anyone and I begin walk home. Once I get home I eat dinner then I shower and get ready for bed. I don’t know what it is but that night I don’t sleep at all. I fill like something is missing. I have always felt like that but I could never place what is I feel is missing. It feel like it is more noticeable now. I shake my head. I just need to get some sleep. So I put on my rain sound and focus on that. Try to take my mind off anything and everything it is thinking about.
