Walking out the secret room I could see the small shades of purple and orange through the red and gold curtains that normally were wide open portraying a wonderful view of the island. As the sun was setting I couldn't turn my eyes away from the wonderful sight, so when I managed to twist the hand that was about to touch my shoulder I was a bit stunned.
"You can let go know," the guard said, his voice high-pitched.
"I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed quickly letting go of his hand, "are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine," he spoke going back to a deep tone, "quite the grip you have there princess."
"Thanks, I guess," I responded awkwardly.
"The names Gerald by the way," he smirked. Is he flirting with me?
"Good to know," I said walking off, but I could hear his footsteps trailing behind me, "is there something you need?"
"Maybe a date," he stated cockily.
"Don't you have a job to do?" I asked irritated turning away from him.
"I can do you," he said which made me instantly turn around and punch him in his face. I heard the satisfying crunch of his nose breaking which caused my lips to quirk upwards.
"What's going on here?" I heard pretty eyes ask.
"She attacked me!" Gerald shouted holding his know bleeding nose.
"He was saying some things that I didn't like," I said turning around to face pretty eyes. His jaw was clenched and so were his fist and his eyes locked on Gerald.
"Like what?" his voice going deeper with anger, but his eyes was still glued to the whining guard.
"He was flirting with me, kinda uncomfortable," I spoke, but once I saw him clenching his jaw harder I placed my hand on his bicep, "but as you can see I handled it."
"Jaluron wants to talk to you," he said ignoring my comment.
"Don't do anything stupid," I spoke walking away from the two and as soon as the throne room door closed behind me I could hear a sickening scream from Gerald which made me pause my steps. I was tempted to go look what happened but I decided against it and went on my way looking for J.
I found J and Aaroxx standing at the end of the hallway with the king, when I was closer to them I noticed Aaroxx looking around frantically so I hastened my footsteps.
"What's wrong with Aaroxx?" I questioned after reaching closer to them.
"Being away from their owner can cause them to agitated," the king explained so I walked pass him to rub Aaroxx's jaw. When he didn't lean his head in my hand as usual I knew something was off, but decided to bring it up now.
"I'll leave you two know," the king spoke before walking away with a small wave which I returned.
"Something’s wrong," I spoke biting lip, which was something I did when I was worried or feeling anxious.
"What do you mean? Are you okay?" J asked looking at me worriedly.
"No something’s wrong with Aaroxx," I spoke looking at the dragon.
"Probably he wants to spend time with you by himself," J thought out loud, "it helps with the connection between the two."
"Yeah, maybe you're right," I said trying to calm myself down.
"Don't worry okay, go take some time off," J spoke his voice soothing, "from you arrived here you have been given no time to comprehend what is happening. So I think its fair you take a little time for yourself and take Aaroxx with you so you two can have a moment to yourselves because when this war starts it is not going to stop."
I gave him a nod signifying I understand what he was saying; I mounted unto Aaroxx giving him a signal to fly. I looked back down on J to see him still staring at me, he then gave me a salute which I returned making him turn around and walk back in the castle. Aaroxx soared through the sky and even though I had no idea where he was going I decided to enjoy the ride.
A few minutes later Aaroxx landed near a deserted lake that was surrounded by flowers and trees, it was beautiful scenery. I lowered myself to the ground and used the purple dress; I had received from Alia, to protect me from the prickly feeling of the grass. The hot air blown on the side of my face made me look back at Aaroxx who was now lying beside me reminding me what we were here for.
"I don't know how this communication thing is gonna work. I mean it's not like you can talk back," I spoke to him while picking flowers that were around me.
"I can actually," I heard a voice speak in my head causing me to let out a shout of surprise.
"Was that you?" I asked the scaly beast beside me, panting slightly.
"Yes it was little one," I heard the deep voice speak again.
"This is weird," I whispered to myself, "J didn't tell me you could talk."
"These people don't know much about our kind, we are very rare," he explained.
"Why did you choose me?" I asked after a moment of silence.
"My kind is known for helping each chosen one," he spoke.
"There are more like me?" I asked.
"There were people like you, but it was many generations before you," he said.
"What happened?" I asked looking around the pond to notice it was night.
"You know the saying 'history repeats itself'," he didn't wait for an answer before continuing, "that's what is happening know and I just hope we win this time."
"You guys didn't win the last war? But J said you did and that's why Chilton wanted revenge,” I spoke confused.
"The war I'm explaining to you is really a long time ago and in a different realm, but if we can win this one it will be a lot better for the others."
"That's a lot of pressure," I mumbled.
"Don't worry you'll do fine and besides the only reason we didn't win was because the chosen one did something that didn't sit well with the gods," he explained.
"What did they do?" I questioned.
"That's a story for another time little one, let's head back you have a big day ahead of you."
Not wasting any time I quickly stood up, brushing of the specks of dirt that latched on to the dress. I took my hair smoky brunette hair out of the tight bun; I had put it in while talking over the plan, to a loose ponytail because I could feel the slight headache coming on. I rode Aaroxx back to my temporary place and left in the large garden out front; as I climbed into my bed I couldn't help but dread what was coming tomorrow.
