Bridget woke up next to her husband, a smile on her face. Today was their anniversary, and just like that, they had been together for twelve years! Bridget could hardly believe it. At first, she thought that Zain would get tired of her, especially since his mother did not seem to approve of her. She had lived at first with her heart in her stomach, fearing that her relationship would come to an end before she knew what was going on. But Zain stuck by her side no matter what, he told his mother that he loved her and that he was going to be with her no matter what. And even when the issue of children came up, Zain was still by her side, telling her that it didn't matter that they didn't have kids. All he needed was her. How could Bridget not love this man? She sat up on the bed as she stared at his face, and in that moment, she felt like her life was perfect. There was nothing else that she could ask for, and she just wanted to dedicate the rest of her life to making sure that she was a good wife for her husband. Zain was still asleep, and Bridget got up from the bed slowly, making sure not to wake him in the process. She went to the kitchen and started making breakfast for him. They usually had breakfast together before he had to go to work, but since it was their anniversary today, she wanted to do something special for him. Bridget was still making breakfast when a middle-aged woman walked into the kitchen. She forced a smile on her face when she saw her mother-in-law, in Bridget's perfect world, the only dent was her mother-in-law, Brenda. "What is this? It's so early in the morning, and you are already preparing to eat. Is this how a wife should behave? I have never seen anyone who acts like you before," the woman chastised her. Bridget kept a smile on her face; this was her mother-in-law, after all. "I was just trying to make breakfast in bed for my husband," she said. "If you have the time to do this, why don't you give me a grandchild? That's the only thing I ask for, a grandchild!" Brenda complained. "Mom, I have told you time without time again that we are going to have a child when the time is right. Can you please stop harassing Bridget like this?" A smile lit up Bridget's face when she saw Zain approaching her. He walked over to her and kissed her lovingly on the cheeks. "Why did you get up? Since it's our anniversary, I was trying to make breakfast in bed for you," she said. Zain pulled her closer to himself, "There's an important client I need to meet in the company, and so I have to leave early. I really want to have breakfast with you before I leave," Zain complained. Bridget could see how sad he was, but she didn't want to hold him back from his work, and so she smiled. "Don't worry about it, work is more important, you should get going, don't worry, I am going to make a nice dinner for you tonight, to celebrate our anniversary," Bridget promised him. Zain kissed her lovingly when he heard this, "This is why I love you, Bridget. You are always considering me and making sure that I am fine no matter what," he told her. "Don't worry, today's anniversary will definitely be a memorable one for us," he assured her. Zain turned to his mother before he left, "Mom, I've told you that Bridget is my wife, and so you have to treat her well. You can't make things hard on her all the time," he warned his mother before he left. Long after her husband was gone, Bridget still had a silly smile on her face. So what if her mother-in-law was harsh? At least she still had her husband, who loved her no matter what! ....... "You all are trash! You can't do your job! Get out, all of you!" Bridget had just gotten to work when she heard her boss, the top actress Jenna, yelling at her manager. Bridget, who had dreams of becoming an actress, had not gotten an opportunity yet. Although she had roles as an extra, it was nothing, and so she had to settle for working as the assistant of the top actress, Jenna. However, Jenna had a bad temper, and whenever she was angry, Bridget had to suffer the consequences of her anger. Lily, Jenna's manager, grabbed Bridget's hand, directly dragging her out before Jenna could lash out at her. "What is wrong with her?" Bridget asked as soon as they were out. Lily shrugged, a tired look on her face; she was the one who had it the hardest amongst both women. "I don't know, just don't disturb her for today," Lily warned. "About that...." The silly smile was back on her face. Not even a boss like Jenna could dampen her mood for today. It was the happiest day of her life after all. "Are you okay, Bridget?" Lily asked in concern. "Well, can I please leave work early today? It's my wedding anniversary, and I want to go back home to spend it with my husband, " she informed Lily. Lily smiled, obviously happy for the other woman. But then, thinking of something, she frowned again. "I don't think it's a good idea, Bridget. You've seen how angry Jenna is today," Lily said, smiling sadly. It was t*****e to work for Jenna. Bridget pulled on Lily's hand playfully. "Please, Lily, just this once, I just need to spend today with him. Please make up something for me, I promise I will make it up to you some other time," she begged. Lily could not resist her, and she smiled in the end. "Fine, you can leave today, but know that this is not something you can do every day," she warned playfully. "Of course! I promise!" Bridget was seconds away from jumping up in happiness. ...... She had gotten some foodstuffs on her way back. Bridget's husband, Zain, always told her that he liked her food, and she was prepared to give him a nice surprise today. She even dipped into her savings and bought him a suit he always wanted, and Bridget was looking for how he would surprise her today. She was indeed surprised when she walked into her house, but it wasn't a good surprise. As soon as Bridget entered the house, the first person she saw was a woman she didn't know sitting on her couch, with her husband kneeling in front of her. "Zain..." She flaked out, but her voice was barely audible, as the scene was too much of a shock for her. "Leila, we've known each other for a few months now, but I know you are the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. Will you please marry me?" "Say yes! Say yes!" An older woman chanted from the side. It was only then that Bridget realised her mother-in-law was also around. "Zain!" She screamed, unable to take this unsightly scene anymore.
