Brenda laughed gleefully as she watched Bridget cry pitifully. "Do you think that you would be able to monopolize my son forever? You can't have a child, and you still won't let him be with a woman who can have a child for him. I introduced Leila to him, and they are going to have a child soon. Zain is going to be a father," Brenda bragged. Bridget shook her head as the tears flowed freely; she took slow steps towards her husband, trying to hold his hand as she did so. "Please, Zain, please tell me that all of this is not true. Please...tell me you are playing some kind of joke. I can't take this at all. I would rather die than lose you, Zain, please," Bridget cried and begged at the same time. She reached out a hand to hold her husband, but he just pushed her roughly. "Then go ahead and die then. What does it have to do with me?" He asked cruelly. "Zain!" Bridget shouted his name. How could he be the person that she was married to for twelve years? He was just going to leave her like that? "It's all because of this woman and your mother. They seduced you, and they turned your heart against me. You are doing all of this because of them. You can't...you can't just leave me because of these people," Bridget blamed everyone in the room besides Zain, because she didn't want to believe that she had actually been living with a cold and cruel man. A slap landed across her face once again, and it was from Brenda. "Don't you dare talk about my daughter-in-law like that. She is already a hundred times better than you, so what makes you think you can compare to her?" Bridget did not mind about the slap; her eyes were focused fully on Zain as she tried to beg him once again. She really couldn't live without him. "Please, Zain, remember all the good times we shared together..." She begged. Zain just looked at Bridget like she was just some stranger who was begging for help. "You know, if you really want to stay with me, you can," Zain said, as he smiled cruelly. Bridget did not care that he was mocking her; she was just focused on his words. She nodded her head desperately, "Yes, yes, I don't want to leave you, Zain. I really don't want to..." She said, Zain reached into his pockets, and he brought out a dollar. He threw the one-dollar bill at Bridget, and her face paled. "Why don't you pick it up? That's your payment. You can accept that money and stay back as a co-wife. Of course, you understand that you are going to come second to Leila, as you are barren. When we have our kids, we are going to need someone to take care of our kids," Zain said. Zain, his mother, and Leila all laughed when they saw the hurt look on Bridget's face. Bridget finally realized that the man that she loved was long gone. The only person who remained in his place was someone who did not care about her and who just wanted to humiliate her. "Get out of my son's house! We never want to see your face again and await the divorce papers!" Brenda barked at her. ..... Bridget walked on the side of the road, unsure of what she was going to do. She had been married to Zain for twelve years, and yet he just threw her out like anything once he was tired of her. The person who kissed her and made love to her, the man who convinced her he loved her even though they had no kids—how could it be the same person who had humiliated her like this? How could this be? How can someone change so much in just a few years? Or was he always this kind of person, and she just did not realize it before this? How could she be so stupid? Bridget had no idea how long she had walked, but when she looked up, she realized that she was far away from the house she had shared with Zain. She realized just then that she had no idea what she was going to do with her life now. She barely had enough money on her as she bought his anniversary gift. Bridget screamed out in pain when she realized just how terrible her situation was currently. What was she going to do? How was she going to live her life from now on? Bridget felt a sharp pain in her stomach just then. It was just a small pain at first, but the pain actually got worse quickly. To the extent that she could not move at all. She was soon doubled over on the ground, crying in pain and hoping that someone would see her and come to help her. Thankfully, after about ten minutes of suffering in excruciating pain, someone finally tapped on her shoulder. "Are you okay?" A kind-looking passerby asked her. Bridget bit her lips and shook her head. "No... hospital... please take me to the hospital," she begged. Bridget truly felt like she was going to die from the pain. ... In the hospital, a doctor quickly attended to her. She was sent to get a scan, and as she waited on the bed, the pain attacked Bridget even more. She felt like she was going to go crazy from the insane pain. "What is going on, doctor? Why does my stomach hurt so much?" Bridget shouted as soon as she saw the doctor walk in. The doctor looked at Bridget strangely, and she knew that it could not be anything good. "Just tell me what is wrong with me, doctor. Am I going to die?" She asked fearfully. "Well, you are pregnant, miss, and you are about to give birth right now," the doctor said. Bridget was quiet, but then she burst out laughing. What kind of sick joke was this? "It's true, Miss, it's an ectopic pregnancy, and you are in labor!”
