It was nearing Christmas. And there were lights and people with fake Santa beards and pillow-stuffed bellies everywhere. Alec Spencer tapped his pen on the desk of his office as he wearily stared out through the window. He saw the shadow of his secretary pass by his frosted glass door, which had his name and occupation on it in long black letters. Alec Spencer, Private Investigator. He'd given her the rest of the day off to do her Christmas shopping before the masses trampled her. It was only two weeks away. And he'd hoped he could finish the damn case before then, so he too, could go home to his family and actually enjoy the holidays.
