Amy's pov
I stopped in my tracks as I could no longer hear his footsteps, my constant panting and thudding heartbeat caused me to grow weak as I held onto the pillars for support.
"That was close," I confessed breathlessly as I leaned behind one of the pillars in the hallway. I knew I would certainly get into trouble the moment my wolf made me follow his scent and my discovery scared me.
"The Alpha's son?" I screamed inwardly, watching him from a distance with a dreamy smile on my face.
I started taking steps backward when I saw him sniffing the air. He had caught my scent and I suspected he would come after me, so I took off. I wasn't ready to face him, at least not now.
I was about to make my final escape when I heard footsteps. I knew it was him again, so I tried my very best not to get caught. I moved closer to the pillar like I was about to enter into it. My eyes were closed shut and I seized my breath as I kept my fingers crossed, one single sound could lead to me being caught.
The clock moved slower and slower as his step got nearer to where I was. I was scared, but after some minutes, I could no longer hear his footsteps. I turned back and saw no one, but surprisingly, when I turned around, my eyes caught sight of him, my mate.
I could feel my wolf pouncing around, wanting to welcome his mate, and the way he looked at me wasn't helping matters. For the first time, I was able to get a quick but accurate glance at my mate. He had brown hair, brown eyes which were switching to a wintish red colour, he was so tall, could probably be 6ft5, and he was breathtaking with those chest of his.
"Mate," I heard him call me before pulling me in for a hug, and although the unexpected hug was awkward, I was more concerned about his tightened grip and his eye colour, which was now totally red.
"Mine, mine!" I heard him growl even though there was no one else around there. The moment he let me go, I noticed how his eyes slowly turned back to their original colour.
I wasn't that scared, but I was really shy. I bowed my head, not wanting to look at the guy in front of me, my mind was on. The uttermost confusion: what does he think of me?
"Raise your head," he spoke calmly with his hand on my chin and my wolf, as if she was already spell bound by him, obeyed without even a growl. I couldn't believe it, I was finally gazing at my mate eye to eye.
His hand on my chin made shivers pass down my spine, it was like fireworks were lit inside of me.
"What is your name," I heard him ask, still looking into my green orbs as though he was trying to get lost in them.
"Amy," I replied nervously, tearing my gaze from him and placing it on the floor again,
"Amy,hmmm," he murmured lightly, I could feel his gaze all over me as he paused in his speech, causing me to peek at him.
“Why can’t you look at me, you know about the mate bond, so why are you shy now that you’re facing me?” He asked through gritted teeth.
His tone had changed, his countenance too, and not only did I feel uncomfortable, my wolf was uncomfortable too.
Why had he changed his tone? He seemed angry but I can’t seem to understand why.
“No.. it’s not—“ I stammered as everything I’d wanted to say got caught up in my throat.
My palms were sweaty and I’d wanted to chew my nails due to how nervous I was, but I tried to control myself.
“What’s the matter?” I asked. He looked like something was bothering him and my curiosity caused me to ask.
“You’re nothing like I ever imagined, you’re not the standard mate for someone of my calibre.” he’d tried to hide his pain but I could feel it, “my father would disapprove of you.” He finished as he dropped his hand from my face and took a few steps back.
“Wh—-at?” I let out, my vision was blurry now due to the tears I was holding back.
“I can’t have a weak mate, I’ve always wanted a mate almost as strong as I am and you don’t just meet my expectations. I can’t have a mate who’s constantly being trampled upon,” he added.
Every word stung, he was right. I was always bullied and I’d done nothing to stand up for myself,
I really am weak.
“It’s not like that—“ I wanted to explain myself, but the raise of his finger made me stop as he shunned me.
“Go away,” he muttered, and I blinked twice. I stood as though I didn’t hear what he’d said, “I SAID GO AWAY FROM ME!” He growled and I jumped.
The sound of his voice sent shivers down my spine as they echoed and kept ringing in my head.
He was rejecting me.
“I can change, I can stand up for myself, I can be your ideal mate, just please, please do not—“ I started begging profusely.
“Reject you?” He completed my sentence for me, causing me to lift my face and meet his gaze, “that’s exactly what I’m doing.” He finished with a cold expression.
He looked like the devil himself, his expression was cold and I could tell that he was filled with anger.
