Liza’s POV
Weeks Later
It has been a while since I have been in Arthur's kingdom and he treated me with nothing but care. He made sure I have been comfortable since my arrival and he also let me out at will as long as I keep to curfew. I haven't been bothered about the curfew because I know that it is all to keep me safe and trust me, I want to stay safe with my identity hidden.
Though one part aches my heart, Ryder has not come to see me despite his promises. I mean, it is already overdue for a visit but with Asher by my side, living everyday was easier than I thought.
I had thought I would be depressed and alone but somehow, the moon goddess sent me a companion.
I spent almost all my time with Asher and when I am not with him, I am at home with my friend Scarlett.
I requested the girl Arthur appoint my maid to be relieved of that and be a commoner as it made me feel uncomfortable.
Arthur obliged but he told me that he can only let her strain the palace but he would not make an announcement to avoid an uproar in the kingdom over making her a commoner overnight.
I didn't fuss about that as long as he agreed to free her. We soon became friends and she lived in the palace. During one of our discussions, she begged me to let her do some chores as she was already used to it and not doing it will only make her uncomfortable plus the fact that she has no friends and I was the only friend she has.
Doing chores would keep her mind occupied while I am out with Archie and that u understood perfectly well.
We both sat in the grass in the garden talking about a lot of things when we raised our heads up upon hearing footsteps.
"Dinner is ready young ladies." An older woman in charge of the activities in the house notified us.
Both smiled, thanked her and got up to go to the dinning hall. "Not with these dirty hands and sweaty bodies," she said to us.
It is kind of a tradition to not take dirty bodies to the dinning and also a tradition to be present for dinner. We could miss our meals but dinner is a way Arthur used to know if we are fine. Whether or not we are hungry, we must be present for dinner.
We both went into the house to prepare as we anticipated the food. To think that we were actually really hungry but we both had to wait until food was ready.
As I got into my room, I noticed how the setting sun casted a golden hue on some reachable part of the room.
I had a quick bath as I knew that it wouldn't take long for the table to be set and I would not want to keep Arthur waiting.
In less than ten minutes, I was done bathing and dressing and I made my way down to the dinning hall.
As I walked down the stairs, I used my hands to feel the intricate carvings on the wall and it actually felt good to see the wall adorned with tapestries depicting the tale of history.
I spoke got to the dinning hall which has a long table crafted from a polished oak tree. It is the rarest of wood and it is obvious Arthur kept it to preserve it as it is one of the most valuable things to be owned.
I pulled out a chair to sit as I looked at the dining table which is adorned with unique silver wares and goblets.
I sat down looking at the food as we waited for Arthur's arrival. Truth be told, my stomach grumbled from complaining of hunger. It felt like torture perceiving the aroma of the food and the spiced roasted meat.
While I sat there resisting the temptation of digging into the food, Arthur arrived and I let out a relieved sigh.
"Good evening." I greeted with a smile.
"Evening Liza '' Arthur responded with a tied tone. He actually looks tired, it must have been a stressful day for him.
"Stressful day huh " I asked him hoping I wasn't being disrespectful. Though he gave me room to be expressive towards him but I don't want to overstep my boundary.
"Oh, yes dear. Stressful day indeed." Arthur responded by digging into his food. "I'm famished." He said out loud noticing how I stared at him as he ate.
I wish he knew what the state was about. This is literally me having been waiting for him to arrive and then he finally arrived and started eating. I don't know why I felt some type of way about that but I felt somehow regardless.
I reminded myself of my place and started eating my food. The night grew darker as we are and in a few minutes, we finished dinner.
I had this plan to go out with Asher tomorrow and I wouldn't be returning home. The plan is for I, Asher and his friends to spend the night in Asher's house but I had doubts that Arthur will agree to it.
I unconsciously started clunking my plate with the fork in my hand as I thought about how to tell Arthur about it.
"Any problem Liza?" I heard Arthur ask me.
"Err, yes and no." I responded nervously.
"Okay?" He said in a questionable way waiting for me to say something but my words got stuck in my throat.
"Spit it out Liza." Arthur said, sending my unease.
"I want to go out tomorrow."
"Has that ever been a problem?" He asked me with furrowed brows.
"Erm, no." I answered, wavering.
"So?" He asked.
"I would love to spend the night." I finally let out and I could see how Arthur's eyes widened from hearing what I said.
"I would love to know where and why." Arthur responded, trying to be reasonable with me.
"Me and my friends would be hanging out doing a lot and we would not be done until late hours which is unsafe for me to return. I think spending the night with them would be safer." I explained with so much doubt that he would agree to it.
