Chapter 5: Become a servant for the boss

1134 Words
'The first time I saw such a handsome man, am I dead and in heaven?' Rose thought to herself as she tapped herself on the head several times. Due to the effect of the anesthetic being so strong that Rose still couldn't react as quickly as usual, she was a bit stunned when she looked at the man and then slowly turned away. She is lying on a vast bed, four walls are dark gray, in the distance, there is a long table, with a large sofa. The scene was so strange that Rose was bewildered, this place was both a bedroom and an office, but it was not like a prison or a paradise. Is she still alive? Rose was glad to think so. Before Rose had time to react, she heard someone's cough. Rose looked up to see a man standing beside the bed. His eyes seemed to be warning her of something. Rose looked at the man without blinking, seemingly familiar. Rose tried to rummage through her memory, then exclaimed in surprise. "Devlin, I know you." Devlin frowned at her, speechless. Rose's heart was pounding, almost wanting to get out of her chest. Devlin is one of close Vincent Kane's four people; could she be in Vincent's house? For one thing, Devlin was standing very reverently, and the man behind her was still sitting. Unconsciously, she felt a slight chill on her back when she guessed his identity. 'Stop joking, I just escaped death once, I haven't even experienced the happiness of being alive again. I don't want to go to hell again,' Rose thought. "Can avoid it?" Devlin is annoyed by Rose's slowness. Following Devlin's gaze, Rose found herself leaning on Vincent's injured arm, turning around to see his expressionless face next to her. Rose, startled by inertia, backed away and said wryly. "So sorry." Rose forced herself to stay calm despite her body constantly shaking. "You dare to steal my things?" Vincent looked coldly at Rose. "I…" Rose thought Vincent was referring to the black diamond. "I didn't take anything. I only heard important information so I came to verify." Devlin adjusted his tie. "News that female thief was caught when she dared to steal a black diamond?" Rose didn't answer, but her gaze was clear. "Is that a trap used to lure me in?" Rose asks if Devlin is right, she will rest assured that Belinda is safe. "The news wasn't wrong," Vincent said. Rose's heart jumped. "Where is she?" "Here. It's you." Vincent used his index finger to lift Rose's chin. "What I'm talking about is the queen ruby." Rose didn't know what to say for a moment. She had thought the quest to steal that ruby was much safer than the black diamond. But unexpectedly, it was still something owned by Black; if she had known about this in advance, she would certainly have considered it carefully before violating it. "We give you a chance at redemption, if this works we can spare your life," Devlin said. "What proof do you have that it's me?" Rose stiffened her mouth. "Without proof, you can't slander others." "It was Roma who provided the news," Devlin said calmly. "Roma?" Rose couldn't believe Roma had sold him out; could he have betrayed the organization? This means that this trap has been created for her from the beginning; even if she does not come here, it is unlikely that she will be able to escape Black's pursuit. "I don't like messing around, if you're no longer valuable I don't need you. Devlin…" Vincent lost his patience. Devlin still wanted to give her a chance, gently reminded. "There are no survivors from Black's theft, you are very lucky because coincidentally we need someone who can race. You should think again." Rose thought and answered. "I do." She knew she couldn't escape this time, preferring to cooperate voluntarily. 'What will my fate be next? Why am I involved in this mess?' Rose fretted. "In the future, you will become my servant," Vincent said, then turned to go out; although he was seriously injured, it did not seem to affect him. Looking at Rose's white face, Devlin kindly reminded her. "Don't talk too much in front of him, do your best in your assigned duties, I don't want to have to help you with your burial." Rose swallowed thoughtfully. Devlin had already followed Vincent out of the room when she looked up. In the large room with only Rose left, she wanted to run away but then sat still in the same place; she dismissed that thought. She knew she couldn't get out of here with the number of professionally trained assassins guarding the door. Suddenly the door opened again. Rose's eyes widened in surprise as she saw the girl she bought the news from yesterday slowly walking in. "Hello, little girl." She looked at Rose and smiled like the first time they met. "You're probably wondering why I'm here?" The girl pretended to think. "Let me introduce myself first. I'm Amber." Rose was dumbfounded for a moment; even though she had never met Amber, she had heard of it. She, like Devlin, is one of the four people Vincent respects the most. A high-class person like Amber appeared in the alley that day; it seems that Vincent takes a thief like her very seriously. "Unexpectedly, I met an illustrious character I didn't recognize a few days ago." Rose looked at Amber without blinking. Rose was surprised and admired; people must know how talented a woman can stand in the core ranks of Black. "I feel very guilty for deceiving a little girl like you." Amber laughs. "But that's an order." "I understand." Rose forced a smile. No one in front of Vincent dared to disobey his orders. "I'm surprised you're alive, and I'm glad that this bland place will have another beautiful shade of pink," Amber tells the truth; she is a rare woman in the organization. "This is what Mr. Kane asked me to give you." She explained that Rose looked at the jewel earrings lying in Amber's palm. "It is the identity of the people in the organization. Ours are earrings, theirs are watch." The people that Amber mentioned were men. Rose took the earrings and put them on; she felt a little itchy because she was not used to wearing jewelry like this often. "Does it have to be worn all the time?" "That's right, girl, you should get used to it." Amber glanced at the clock on the wall. "I have something to deal with, and I can't stay and talk to you. But next time we meet, just ask me if there's something you don't understand." Rose nodded. After Amber left, the room was quiet again.
