Emma POV
After getting back to the pack house, my uncle gave me a room that apparently he had been planning on giving to me once I became the new beta. I take my bags from shopping earlier and take them to the bed to get ready. I grab the dress and my makeup bag from my purse and head to the attached bathroom and change. I normally don’t wear too much makeup, but with uncle Adam wanting me to meet with the other Alphas and Betas, I figure I should probably make a good first impression. I like simple styles so I only add some natural eye shadow, a little black eyeliner and mascara, then finish with just a light pink lip gloss. As I am putting on my flats, I hear my door open; I turn to see who is coming in when I am tackled onto the bed by a blur. The next thing I know, I am laughing so hard because I am being tickled.
“Quit it,” I gasp between my laughs.
“Okay,” I hear my cousin Charlie laugh. “Only because you need to do something with your hair before everyone shows up,” he says, pointing to the messy bun I still have.
“I was about to work on that,” I mumble. “I just don’t know what I should do with it. You know this is my go to style. Do you have any suggestions for me?” I ask, hoping beyond hope that he has a good idea.
“Why not ask another girl?” Charlie chuckles.
“You know that I have no girl friends,” I roll my eyes as he walks out my door. In my defense, the other girls in the pack don’t like me because I don’t act all girly like them. I would much rather protect what is mine than go shopping, or partying. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I decide to just go with my go to hairstyle for rare special occasions. I braid my hair starting from the right side and bring it around to run down my left shoulder. As I finish my hair, I hear cars pulling up the drive and I rush down the stairs and out the door so I will be able to greet the pack’s Alphas before they meet our Alpha.
As I stand on the porch 9 cars pull up in our rounded driveway. I watch as 18 men come towards me, standing up straight I smile and greet them.
“Welcome to New Moon Pack,” I begin my greeting, stretching out my hand to the first Alpha to reach me. He just stared at my hand in disgust before he decided to say something that would ruin his first impression with me.
“Girl, you should not be greeting us, you should be inside where you belong. The Alpha or his Beta should greet us,” he sneers. I can’t help the anger I feel, and I stop the growl that Astrid wants me to let loose.
“I am sorry you feel that way, I will take you to the banquet hall where we have everything set up,” I inform him, letting that Alpha believe that I will not be joining them. I take the lead and escort them to the banquet hall and once we reach our destination, the same rude Alpha shoves past me.
“Go back to where you belong, girl,” he whispers to me. As soon as that alpha said that I hear two loud threatening growls towards him. All the Alphas and Betas look toward Alpha Adam and Charlie where the growls came from.
“Alpha Kota, you will not speak to anyone in my pack that way, no matter how you feel about young girls. What you did is totally unacceptable. This mere girl is my niece and the future Beta of this pack. You will treat her with respect or you will leave here,” Alpha Adam growls out, his eyes flickering between his normal warm brown eyes to his glowing yellow eyes. His wolf is so close to the surface, which I wasn’t entirely prepared for. I saw that most of the other Alphas and Betas kept looking between me and my uncle. His reaction, though I am used to him being that protective of me, is not that normal. Normally that amount of aggression shown on behalf of a female wolf would be saved for a mate or a daughter, not a niece.
“Join us up here Emma, that might help dad calm down,” Charlie said through our mind link. I walked over to my uncle and placed a hand on his arm, watching as he visibly relaxed, even if it was just slightly.
“Uncle, I am fine. I deal with this from people from our own pack. We need not cause a rift between the packs over little ole me,” I tell him. I wink before turning back to the Alphas and Betas, and I can feel the change in my uncle to his calm demeanor.
“Welcome to our pack, I hope that you and your packs will be ready for a grand party tonight,” my uncle calls out to everyone. “Emma and my son Charlie will show you each where you will be able to stay after the celebration is over tonight,” he says gesturing to us.
“Well, that was an interesting start to the day and we haven’t even been announced to our pack yet,” Astrid mumbles in my head.
