"Yanna, wait a second,” I called out, my voice slightly louder than intended as I hurried toward her desk. She looked up from the report in her hands, eyes wide but soft, and I felt my chest tighten in that familiar, possessive way. I couldn’t help it. Every small moment she existed in my proximity made my heart race, made the world shrink until it was just her.
