CHAPTER THREE
Aiden Campbell
The loud shrill of Aiden's phone woke him up from his deep sleep, he groaned as he opened his eyes one after the other and rubbed them, Aiden picked up his phone and stared blankly at it.
"Not again," he murmured at the sight of a private number, he knew what the call was all about, but he hasn't gotten to know who the call was from and why he keeps getting the call every morning.
He cleared his throat and held the phone to his ear, "Tell the world who you really are. Tell the world who you really are, the clock is ticking," and there, the threat came again, the same threat he has been getting consecutively for weeks.
"Who are you?," he shouted with frustrated, but another beep came from his phone, notifying him that the call has ended, "Who the hell are you?," Aiden shouted and hung his head, he wrapped his hands around his head as he tried to find an explanation to the call.
He has been getting the same call for weeks and it was looking more like a threat, he didn't know who the person was and why he keeps calling him. Maybe it was even a lady, maybe it was someone close to him, maybe the person used a voice changer, Aiden couldn't find the a way through his thoughts.
He stepped down from his bed and walked to the table in his spacious room.
He picked up a cup and brewed himself a coffee. A glass wall stood at the right side of his room, the glass was covered with lace curtains, Aiden walked back to the window and pulled the curtain.
A set of relaxation chair and table stood close to the glass wall, he pulled the chair to himself and sat as he watched people resuming to their daily activities.
He sipped his coffee as different thoughts swept through his head, he felt like he had to find who was behind those calls he had been getting, he has to find the person real quick.
The call keeps sounding like a threat to him, and it seemed more dangerous as the day goes on. Who was behind those calls? and why does he keep getting the call were questions he would love to find answers to as soon as possible.
Aiden heard his phone beep again, he dropped his coffee on the table and walked to his bed, he picked up his phone and glanced through it, it was the reminder about the family breakfast he was going that morning.
He sighed and dropped the phone, he dragged his feet reluctantly to the closet, he picked up his bathrobe and leaned on the table, going to the family dinner has always been a tough thing for him as it was difficult to keep up with his step brothers.
Aiden, being the quiet person who loves to keep himself finds it difficult to keep up with his brothers who were the opposite of him. It wasn't just that, he always felt like his brothers don't love him and he was nothing to them, they never considered him as their brother.
He sighed again as going deep into thought would only bring grieve to his heart, the only thing he gets excited about during the family breakfasts and dinners was seeing his younger sister who seemed more likeable than his brothers.
Aiden chuckled and walked into the bathroom, he stepped under the shower and the cold water slid down his body.
"Tell the world who you really are, the clock is ticking," that word swept through his head again and he felt a sudden cold, he turned off the shower and leaned on the wall, the water from his hair slid down his body, he couldn't bring himself to forget those words.
"Who the hell are you?," Aiden shouted and hit the wall, he was getting frustrated as he couldn't tell who the person was and why he was being threatened.
He turned on the shower again and took his bath. Minutes later, he stepped back into the closet and dried his hair, he then sat down to reshape it.
Aiden has always been a very sensible guy, he tends to care much about what he wears and how he appears to people, he would never forget the saying that the way one dresses is the way they would be addressed, he kept on to that and tries as much as possible to dress in a good way.
Aiden wore a white shirt, and a black pair of suit, his black shoes were shining and one could see his reflection in them if he looks closely.
He picked up his phone and walked to his reading table, Aiden closed up his laptop and stepped out of the room.
The whole house was quiet and one would hear the sound of a pin falling, Aiden's privacy has been one of the things he fancy the most in years, he hates to be disturbed and he tends to do his things on his own.
Aiden hates asking for help, although he considers that as a bad behavior, but he wasn't willing to change it, he was okay with being alone and by himself.
He once tried to relate with people, but they all broke his trust, the ones he loved the most showed him that they hate him, the ones he trusted the most betrayed his trust.
If his brothers could do that to him, then he believed that no one was worthy of his trust and love.
He stepped down the stairs with his phone and laptop carefully placed in his arms, he heard some sounds coming from the kitchen, he knew it would be no one but his maid.
Aiden walked to the kitchen, and the maid turned to him, "Good morning sir," she greeted and bowed, "I've been waiting for you, I just finished making your breakfast," she added.
"Uhmm.. Good morning," Aiden responded with a faint smile, "I'm sorry but I won't take anything this morning," he added and glanced at his wristwatch before continuing, "I have a breakfast meeting with my family today," he announced, "You can take the food with you," he mumbled and his maid nodded, she understood what he was trying to tell her, and that was telling her to leave.
Aiden walked back to the main room and sat down, waiting for the maid to pack the food and leave before he takes his leave. He has never left his maid all alone in his house, she comes early in the morning and makes his breakfast, and he eats outside for dinner, he never let her go into another place in the house other than the kitchen.
Sometimes, the maid feels like Aiden has something he his hiding from her and everyone.
The maid walked to Aiden with a box in her hand, "Have a nice day sir, and thanks for the meal," she said and walked out of the house.
Aiden also stepped out of the house, he walked to the garage and got into his car, "I hope it goes well," he said, hoping the breakfast meeting will end well and not like the one he has been attending.
He drove out of the house and headed for his dad's house. Aiden's mom died when he was just seven and he was taken to his dad's house, but that was the beginning of torture for him as his stepbrothers found it difficult to accept him as their brother.
They made fun of him and tortured him, the hate grew as the day went by, he had no one to talk to, hence he started keeping to himself.
Aiden drove into the garage of his dad's mansion. His dad, Kirk Campbell was a billionaire, he was awarded the business man of the year for three consecutive years, his fame and fortune was what anyone would wish for.
Aiden stepped out of the car and walked into the house, the maids received him with a smile on their faces, Aiden was calm but likeable.
He saw his stepbrothers at the dining table, he stopped and stared at them, he hoped for a peaceful conversation, although they've never had one. He sighed and moved closer to them.
"And here he comes," the first son of the family, Clive said and clapped, "The illegitimate son of the Campbell's family," he added and laughed.
